  • Connor McDavid is widely regarded as the most highly-evolved player in the history of the game and he was a unanimous choice as the best NHL player heading into the 2024-25 season. Is the gap closing between McDavid and the rest of the league? How important will it be for his legacy to win a Stanley Cup? Gino Reda is joined by Mike Johnson and Kevin Weekes to discuss.

he is still by far the best in the league. He just went on a historic run in the playoffs and the only reason he didn’t lead the league last year is due to his poor start due to injury. He hasn’t had a roster close to tampa’s peak or colorodo’s. He creates more scoring chances and converts on them more than anyone in the league. I think if he is fully healthy this year he will eclipse 160+. This is edmonton’s best roster they have had with mcdavid and he is going to have his best season of his career

I think the only person who's really narrowing the gap is MacKinnon, he's nearly as fast and almost as good as McDavid with his skates and with his stick, but he's also more physical. I don't think his gamesense/hockey IQ is as good as McDavid's, but it'll definitely improve as he becomes more of a veteran
