Nice video and welcome to TH-cam :) I backed this idea as I always find it great when people invent something out of the ordinary. Direct by design, I wished they would make it possible to attach the phone the other way around to, when I film myself. And I guess it will only work with manual lenses, which will put many people off. but the idea is great un you presented it very sweet
Yes, looking at all the samples, it looks like it's manual focus only. But there's an "autofocus" stretch goal, which they've apparently exceeded. But I'd like a little more clarity.
@@Centauri27 yeah, I read that later too. Let's hope for the best. So much potential yet not used. Arca Swiss bottom, swivel phone mount for self filming, but its a start
Please make a video where you show the phone and how you install the camera step-by-step if possible. I'm curious to know how it iconnects to the phone (I assume the USB C port). Also how you trigger the shots besides touching the screen. Sounds really interesting as I already have a few MF3 lenses. How much is the camera and when will it be available? Keep us posted please!!
Nice video, but short. Hoping to see more. may i post some tecnical doubts ? 1. does it have mechanical shutter ? 2. Can it take pictures using flash ? I did not see a hot shoe 3. does it work with any existing M43 lenses, no problems when focus is by wire, and electronical aperture ? 4. the offered lenses would work also for the M43 sensor without crop ? 5. When receiving the device with the M43 sensor option is it swappable to the 1 inch sensor or is it fixed built in ? 6. does it have a "search my device" function when connected to a phone - or some "inhibitor" when using with the phone of a "stranger" ? 7 Does the app have some multishot modes like interval timer, time lapse video, HDR/ND filter/lightpainting ?.
You've put more thought into this than the designers... Its a POS device technically and just looking at the PCB pics on their kickstarter page I can tell you that: 1. it doesn't have a mechanical shutter. You are going to get rolling shutter in your photos. 2. it doesn't have a flash or hotshoe 3. Its manual focus only so focus by wire lenses won't work - which rules out a lot of first party Olympus and Panasonic lenses (they claim "all" m43 lenses will work but without the connection points that's a blatant lie) 4. their lenses look exactly like Meike and TTartisan lenses with the branding removed/edited out so (assuming the pictures are real and they won't do a bait and switch) will work on real m43 cameras 5. their PCB doesn't show a hotswappble sensor. They give no details but you will probably have to swap the PCB out. No clue how their app will work but not expecting great. Having used focus peaking on Sony, Canon and Nikon cameras, I don't think their example of focus peaking working is real and is just a mock up- I suspect they haven't developed the app yet so did a "demo" video of how it could work instead of how it is working.
Although using a MF3 lens, the sensor is not really MF3 size and the crop factor is 2.7x. I doubt there is any mechanical shutter or any ability to trigger any flash
The version I got my hands on has the 1” sensor, but there's also an MFT version too. I'm chatting with the team to see if I can give that one a whirl too.
is it compatible with android ? is it possible to use any app with this or is it nessesary to use always the official app? and is it possible to use Speedbosters adapters and multipliers? I want to use canon lenses with an adapter and lumix lenses becouse in the future I want to buy a lumix g9ii micro4/3 and conserv my canon and lumix lenses.
Would love to see some comparison shots from the different lenses. Debating backing the kickstarter at either the 3 or 6 lens level, but more examples of the lenses would help inform that.
thanks for reviewing! could you also review the video performance for video lag and if you can take stills while shooting video (like on phones)? Also, since there are 2 sensor options, what is the effective view of the lenses? m43 sensor is bigger than 1" sony
Do you own any M43 lenses? If not, could you rent some from Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma, or others to compare to the ones Sneaky Designs include as add-on purchases.
From the information I gathered on Kickstarter, MagSafe for iOS phone and Android phones is a $10 addon to add to the pledge, and the choice of the case is made after the campaign is over
It snaps on with a magnetic ring, kinda like magsafe! The one I'm trying out doesn't have autofocus, but they tell me it's gonna be in the final version.
@@CharmaineNgywcould you contact Sneaky Designs to find the max combined weight (body + lens) for the Magsafe connection. It looked like in your setup the iPhone didn't have a case on it? This gave the whole system a very clean and seamless look. If you didn't have a case on the iPhone could you use one and show pictures as well as comment on how adding a case compared to using the system without a case.
Nice, but I bet the app isn't licensed in a way that I'm allowed to fix bugs on my own and I doubt it will run on my android phone without Googles Play Services or Google Account login.
Seen ads and reviewed the Kickstarter info. This Kickstarter will not be on time and at least two functions will not be complete. IMO, the sneaki design group probably has great ideals but lack the execution chops to make a cell phone / camera add-on at the price they are at. Good luck to them but no money from me.
Uummhh, why not just make camera phone with this sensor, The 4/3 Sony Imx 472 is apparently really good, but that information I required from googling around. Nice idea but reality and functionality probably another thing. Add a conversion lens of high quality to your phone and I think you would be fine.
Great concept, terrible, terrible execution. Best you can say is at least its cheap but its just a bad product IMHO. I have many more issues with this thing but the top three "dealbreaker" level problems with this thing are: 1) The mount makes no sense given the sensor size they have chosen. M43 mount on a 1" sensor is a massive own goal... This kills the device. 1" has a 2.7X crop factor, which means that you have to hunt for insanely wide, fisheye lenses to get even basic wide angle. All of your "normal" m43 wide angle lenses will be telephoto and your extra wide lenses will only be medium focal lengths. 2) Its a manual focus system for a mount standard designed for mirrorless cameras. M43 is a digital only standard, many - though not all - of the First Party (Panasonic and Olympus) m43 lenses are "focus by wire" which require the electronic connections and won't work on this setup. Some m43 lenses will have mechanical focus and will work but this forces users to do a lot of research figuring out what works and what doesn't work. Their kickstarter actually claims " you can use all your existing M43 compatible lenses" which you cannot! That's just deceptive marketing at best or an intentional lie at worst. 3) 1" is not "pro sized" and they are using dated tech... Many smartphone cameras are reaching 1" nowadays and flagship smartphone sensors (at least those that are made by Sony) are now double stacked - which this sensor isn't. The dynamic range on this thing is objectively inferior to many "large sensor" flagship smartphone cameras at or close to the 1" size. Now, with a m43 sensor in their "addon" it gets a bit more interesting as that could be a viable product even without autofocus. However, that's not what's being sold here. Nothing in the design suggests that they have a hotswappble sensor on this thing - in fact the design pictures and PCB they show off proves that it isn't. So really what's being sold here is a 1" sensor device with the promise of releasing a m43 version at a later date.
Very interesting review, Charmaine! I will definitely buy the complete set for myself and one for my sister I think as she as your profile and got a son recently, the photo activity is at its peak 😀. This looks amazing, and the fact that you can push 4K limits to 120fps with IMX 472 is incredible. Even the iPhone 15 stops at 60fps, which is already impressive. I see nothing but improvements over what a smartphone alone offers, and it's not excessively expensive to get the complete set. I'll follow you to see your next additions. I see you're on Instagram too!
Have you been in touch with the company? They are not responding or giving any updates
Dude it's all just a scam

I head something about Alice which is a competitor to this.?

Can This device record audio....with wireless mic?
I want to ask same question.
这个众筹项目我参与了,但是已经很久没更新了,2000多人已经在骂娘了,也不知道这个博主哪里搞来的实物,目前看发起众筹的人已经卷钱跑路了😂

ive been looking for something like this for a long time... does it work with Android phones too??
No news from the company in Kickstarter 😢. Is it still living?
Hi Charmaine, I’ve noticed their videos are a bit jittery. Is this something you experienced in your trial of the camera?
Been keeping a pretty close eye on this. Seems like it'd be great for travel.
What's the price? Where can we buy it? Could you make a comparative between photos taken with iphone 15 and this new gadget?
Nice review I just found you from the KS campaign! Great to have you on YT.
In the part of the video where you are discussing focus peaking, are you controlling focus in-app or manually from the lens?
How does it attach to the phone? Does it have autofocus and are the lenses that come with it autofocus lenses?

I wonder about image stabilization. An excellent sensor with no stabilization is often worse than a mediocre sensor with stabilization.
Does it work with Samsung S24 Ultra phone?
Headphone jack?
Y la segunda parte?
Can you test the autofocus feature?
Is there in-body image stabilization?
Are you able to control the aperture of the lens from the app?
I’m sorry to disappoint you. The version I had tested didn't include any of those features.
You mean like the QX series Sony had around 10 years ago?
🎉
Awesome stuff!
May I suggest adding chapters to your video timeline?
Thank you so much! I’ll give that a try!
thank you for share~

hi from cuba, nice video
Nice. I actually backed the Excope DT1. Can’t wait to get it. Maybe you can review that one too and see what you think.
That's a fantastic idea! I'll drop them a message and see if I can get a unit for review. Thanks a bunch!
In My country we Say : mira ese potencial .

A 4/3 sensor is 1.33 inches across. How big do you think the sensor in a typical phone is? And why do you think that is? Use your brain. Jesus.

Wow, thank you so much! It's absolutely wonderful to hear that you enjoyed my review.
The Sony sensor is capable of 4K 120fps, but I believe as of right now, the recording is capped at 4K 60FPS
But will this cap remain indefinitely or will it be lifted upon release?
