Iceland has the type of curious geography where a small country can have vast and desolate distances. Also, being fully exposed to the northern parts of the Atlantic ocean, weather can change dramatically in an instant. And because of its geography and topography, the Icelandic society is incredibly dependent on timely road transports, often to ensure that they match ferry timetables. When roads are closed or trucks break down, stores simply won’t have fresh food to sell. Sigrid is one of very few female truck drivers in Iceland. In fact, the only female Scania driver. She has herself lived a life with serious personal challenges, and driving a truck is at the same time an escape from that, and a challenge in itself.
