You can rebake polymer clay many times as long as you don't exceed the recommended temp. That way, if you make something you don't like, you can cover it with more clay and bake again. Saves wasting clay.

No, if you are looking at making a cane. However, if you work with air dry clay, you can make little balls, let them dry, and paint the eyes on them.
