  • Button was behind the wheel when the car began to have problems with the drive line. They ran as high as 27th overall in the 62-car field, and were achieving all of the goals they established for themselves. In fact, they were ahead of the entire GTE field 20 hours into the race. They completed 285 laps and finished the race, which was their ultimate goal.

It was allowed full power and full specs which is why it did so well. If it was class limited it would be a different story. • @mostlyjoe

Exactly. This thing was an experiment, they were seeing if they could take what they already had and make it work in LeMans. And it almost did. They stress test the hell out of the same before it went to the main race and it did two 24-hour tests with no problem. The fact that the gearbox broke after 19 hours in was more of a fluke. I'll let you watch that they'll go back in with another experimental class next time and we may see better performance.

@@katrinapaton5283 well this prove that the Build quality isn’t what it should be in terms of its ability to stand 24 hours continuous hammer essentially they put a gun to this Cars head and beat the living hell out of it in this race. From a data point of view it must be an absolute gold mine and definitely worth going over there because they can see what is actually going to stand the hammer for 24 hours use and won’t. Essentially, it was a torture test on the vehicle and its components. The gearbox obviously didn’t pass muster in terms of surviving, but I wonder how the rest of the car stood up to it got in the race..
There will be a hell of a lot of lessons they will have learned from this race both for competing in this event in future but all certain terms of what they can do better in NASCAR in terms of Build quality and what they will accept in terms of quality of parts. If they have a consider trying to use this vehicle in a rally configuration, they’ll have a rough idea what is likely to stand certain amount of hammer and won’t from this event. As a basic starting point. Either way, I think it’s great to see how NASCAR vehicles stand up in a different discipline and handle the, racing surface and configuration and the hammer of the event.
I watched an episode of undercover Boss where the Boss went undercover in his NASCAR team and the car came into the pit on fire with the drivers suits on fire because it was flame retardant. They’re able to put him out and he was absolutely fine. Those lessons learned across motorsport which save lives may be different but I’m willing to bet they’ll be standards in the rule but regarding Driver safety which everyone has to follow in NASCAR and at this event

It was awesome to have it there and the sound was amazing. And as you say, the team would have gone away with SOOO much data they couldnt have gotten anywhere else.
However the constant "It beat Ferrari and Porsche!" from people who can't be bothered clarifying that it beat the Ferrari and Porsche GTEs...and lets not forget it also beat the Corvette GTEs too...just annoys the hell out of me. And of course it did, it's got more power and is designed for speed, and LeMans is nothing if not a power circuit designed for speed. @@katrinapaton5283 fair play. It is a time trial. Just the data in terms of the goldmine of how much they will get out of it in terms of literally putting the pedal to the metal and seeing what bit of the car go bang and what bits stay in one piece at the end of it. For the manufacturer as well as the race team it’s a gold opportunity and definitely worth doing not just for the racing team, but also for the team designing the next street car version of this model. they’ll be things which they learn from that experience which they’ll realise yeah that was not a good idea. We needed to fix that on the next model of car or arrange an upgrade for the parts design for the new model both on the track and in the sales room. Also, it’s healthy competition it’s a case of we’ve put up who else is going to put there model of car up against the best and 24 hour cars there are about on their own home turf. It’s a case that the car was handled by Wong the best drivers around so they knew they weren’t gonna have somebody who never driven that type of course before and run it into a bank on their first try feedback Jensen and the other drivers will be invaluable as well as the Hallett coat on such a twisty course given American cars design for highways ones of the Japanese ones are designed for a lot of the twisty Rhodes we have both here and in Asia. It will be interesting if they took their next challenge to take it to some of the rallies and see how the vehicle Cope their.
For me, it’s a amusing because I was image of these moonshiners driving the vehicles stupidly fast speeds through these narrow twisty country lanes and back roads in the end of nowhere trying to avoid the local police and in many ways for them it’s going back to the roots by driving in very very tight twisty courses And seeing how descendants cope with it.
Maybe they should have one race a year instead of racing at a bulk stand of NASCAR track they get a Formula One course or similar. It would probably be an absolute carnage equally would be very interesting to see how those drivers coped on a very different surface and circuit compared to what they used to at home.

Reminds me of the Video Meme of America, France, and the NASCAR Fan trying to "reserve RV parking" for the 2024 Le Mans race!

Bro the fact that the driver outlasted the car is insane! Props to him!!!!

The reason it performed so well is because they changed basically everything on the car for GT-spec components. The only parts they didn't change was the engine and chassi. So it wasn't a NACAR-car, it was a GT-car with a NASCAR engine and a proper effing driver

It's because of Jenson Button being an incredible driver.

by the way, since this was only a once in a lifetime opportunity, le mans did not give them any regulations except that it must have lights, so they could build the car however they liked.

More than just Jenson Button. Mike Rockenfeller too, who was on the Audi LMP2 team prior and won Le Mans.

That car was not just adapted, it was a totally different car than a regular NASCAR and build from the ground up for this race
