New 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix (Hycross) - Strong Hybrid Family MPV

- Toyota unveiled the 2023 Toyota Innova during its World Premiere in Indonesia today, November 21st. The seventh generation of the venerable family MPV has adopted an SUV look and stance and is now confirmed to have a hybrid powertrain option.
More popularly known as the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix in Indonesia, it will be produced at the PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia factory in Karawang, West Java. It will be exported to various countries as well. The 2023 Toyota Innova uses the TNGA-C platform, the same used by the Toyota Corolla, Corolla Cross, C-HR, current-generation Prius and Lexus UX.
The new Innova has a more masculine and SUV-like design than its predecessors. Finished in contrast black with chrome surrounds, the car’s front facia shows off a large trapezoidal grille. An attractive cheatline runs down the centre of its wide front bumper, which cleverly morphs into triangular units at each corner. LED daytime running lights are also positioned horizontally on the cheatline.
In the profile, the two character lines run the length of the MPV, neatly merging with the wraparound LED taillights. This is similar to the styling on the Avanza Veloz MPV sold overseas.
Speaking of the underpinnings, a lighter, more sophisticated front-wheel-drive TNGA modular architecture replaces the rear-wheel-drive IMV platform in the new Toyota Innova, making it lighter and roomier than its predecessor.
The new Innova measures 4755mm in length, 1850mm in width and 1795mm in height with a wheelbase of 2850mm. While its longer and have 100mm longer wheelbase than its predecessor, the ground clearance remains unchanged.
Inside, the new Innova Zenix takes ques from the latest Toyota offerings and is notable different from the Innova Crysta. The layered dashboard features a clean layout with a waterfall style centre section that houses the infotainment screen, AC controls and gear selector. The screen itself is a 10-inch, freestanding unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The Innova Zenix also comes with a new multi-function steering wheel and a 7-inch part-digital instrument cluster.
Other features on offer will include panoramic sunroof, roof-mounted rear AC vents (which are moved to the side of the roof to accommodate the large sunroof), ambient lighting, a wireless charger, USB Type C connectivity, 360-degree cameras and two 10-inch rear screens (part of the rear seat entertainment package). The higher trims also get the option of a dual-tone brown and black interior colour scheme instead of the all-black scheme in the rest of the models.
Under the hood, the new Innova Zenix comes with a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle petrol motor that puts out 154PS and 190 Nm that pairs with a 113PS and 206 Nm electric motor with an e-CVT in the mix. The Innova zenix will be a petrol-only offering for the first time now and lower-spec models could get a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 170PS and 202 Nm, again paired with a CVT.The price of the car ranges from 26,600-38,200 USD, depending on the version.
