    I have to have one of these... I'm obsessed with them, I just have to have one.
    I'm planning to order a CAV GT+, having most of it assembled at the factory and then finished at Renner Auto in Melbourne Australia. I've got some skills, but not on this guy's level. I also really want something very much on the restomod side of things, with all up to date running gear/suspension/brakes, a well insulated and trimmed cabin and (crucially) the doors need to open vertically; because I plan to use it all the time. Plus, those guys are just so good at it now, it's worth the expense for the quality and ease of registration.
    Fingers crossed I'll be looking at mine within the next 18 months or so. There's a GT40 shaped hole in my life that need to be filled.

      @@thatguy83ful Hi Thanks for your interest . I used a Porsche G50 gearbox and bell housing running inverted which is capable of taking the power of the 302 V8 ( around 400 BHP with upgraded heads and fuel injection.) I sourced the complete flywheel and adapter plate from Kennedy Engineering in the USA , and fitted a geared starter motor . The system has proved very successful over many " launch control " starts , continental journeys , sprints and hill climbs .

    • @thatguy83ful
      @thatguy83ful 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the quick reply. Thats exactly what i needed to know. Is your father on gt40s.com website? If not you should set him up an account. He has a wealth of knowledge. I was tryn to decide to go with kennedys kit or fabricate the same way your dad did for the v6 engine. Except i would have to weld the porsche flywheel mounting holes shut and redrill etc.. so i was going to buy a wheel and clutch and plate of alloy. I now will just source from kennedy also. Thank you for the help.

    Great video - to take on this type of project you certainly need some skills! How were you able to get a C (1966) registration plate? Also, the original GT40's had the cabin roof made of steel, doesn't this fibreglass part of your's compromise the car's integral strength or even the safety in the event of an accident? I would have thought an internal roll bar would be necessary, even to pass a safety inspection?

    • @alistaircowan7314
      @alistaircowan7314  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "dave glover - regarding the reg... you can buy any registration as long as it is not a later one than the year the car was made. Regarding the roll bar - it has a main roll over hoop over the drivers head, and a diagonal will be added to satisfy the MSA blue book regulations. Very few GT40's have been fitted with front roll bars as there is not room to fit them in - there have been two serious accidents with cars with front roll bars fitted. Front roll bars may acceptable for race cars with full harnesses and head restraint systems and to be driven wearing a full crash helmet, but for road cars, the single hoop with a diagonal is probably the safest option" Ian C.

    •  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alistair Cowan Okay. I like your replica of the GT40.

  • @d-one-and-only
    @d-one-and-only 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why did the car have to go through the IVA with the V6 and not with the V8?

    • @dmdivers
      @dmdivers 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the UK a replica/kit car will most likely have to go through an IVA, but there are lots of different categories of how you can put a car through the IVA test. I'm going to guess this (Alistair Cowan do confirm!) GT40 replica went through a Basic IVA as a 'vehicle manufactured using parts of a registered vehicle'. I think a Ford Granada was the donor and it would have a had a cologne V6 engine in it - so to comply with the whole IVA process you have to IVA it with the original engine. Once you've passed the IVA you can put in a different engine and also just buy an age-related number plate. It's all just how the system works and having to jump through the hoops.

Son de calidad, pero el de mejor calidad dicen ser el de superfornance y el precio minimo es de 125.000 dolares, y un precio maximo de 160-170.000

    Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
    from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
    Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
    on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas
    station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel
    pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in
    the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems,
    turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and
    New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be
    done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of
    crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :_(
