    Awwww! Little fireman all tuckered out! 🥰 I'm not "quite" in the market right now for a bed camper, but doing my research. (I have a 5.5 bed on a V6 F-150....so a little limited). I have been looking at a ton of "Lance" models, but I have to admit that this is the first Northstar I've looked at. I love it! Happy travels!

    • @sdsadventurer
      @sdsadventurer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s very well made and we love it. But definitely needs a one ton truck to accommodate the weight plus gear within payload. Have you looked at the Capri campers for smaller trucks? And the Liberty from Northstar is a great model too for smaller trucks although I think it needs a 6ft bed- not sure.

    Perfect setup!!! I wish the RV Industry would come on board with 12 volt Compressor Frigs and Cassette Toilets. So much simpler without having the issues with a Black Tank!

    • @sdsadventurer
      @sdsadventurer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed. We are certainly happy with it. And for the Laredo SS extra height, not having a black tank basement is huge!

    • @Steve-yo4ld
      @Steve-yo4ld 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@sdsadventurerI settled on NorthStar for those 2 reasons plus no basement gives you a lower center of gravity.
      Best of luck to you and yours and many safe travels!👍

    I like my A.F. 811 with the one slide. So roomy. If I were to go non slide I like this a lot. Either Northstar or northern lite. Just having a truck camper is a big deal. I go anywhere I want. My wife and I and our dog Ziggy. Perfect set up. I can live in it for long periods of time comfortably.

      Dry baths are nice. Unfortunately they are usually only found in larger, heavier campers than what we wanted. That’s why there are so many models and options. It’s important to know what’s important to you so you get something you will be happy with.

    I did not know the difference between SC and SS, but our 3/4-ton truck with 3508# of cargo capacity would like this very much. I was looking at the Lance 850 but didn't have enough capacity left over to pull a small cargo trailer. We had a Lance 1181 grand daddy truck camper for 6 years that we full-time in, a complement to our two fifth-wheels & two travel trailers in our 16 years traveling. Although our RV needs evolved over the years, now in semi-retirement I am ready to be more hobby oriented as we use our son as a home base & the Laredo for extended excursions. I have seen so many folks build our cargo vans, cargo trailers, bread trucks, & even old ambulances into RVs, but to me nothing beats the ready finishes of a truck camper. I've had 35' FW's & like better working on the truck campers, you have similar appliances, just much simpler configurations, less places to leak, & much easier to park. Although we workamped in all our RVs, if you spend most of your time outside you could park the truck camper nearly anywhere. Doing Parks On The Air with my Ham Radio or Gold Planning at my favorite Lost Dutchman property is a lot less stressful parking for a few days when truck & trailer are not 51 feet long. Yes being stuck inside in a rainy day sucks, but I like to configure my cargo trailer to contain a small crossover motor cycle, additional storage shelves, a ham radio work bench, & a solar power station that doubles as backup power to the truck camper. I've had 16 years of full-time RVing & many years as an Assistant Scoutmaster to figure out what we like and what we can do without. After being together 24/7 since we lived off-grid in Colorado in 2005, the question is can we tolerate being apart some of the time as we take turns sharing grand children across the US, lol. Thanks, Davey & Sheila

We replaced the batteries with 2- Battleborn 100 Ah 12 V LiFePO4. The unit is set up for lithium, but comes standard with AGM. Compare to the Asian and European rv and camper manufacturers, we North American manufacturers are still stuck in the 90's.
    Don't get me wrong, I love the layout but all the sharp angles, square lines and materials used just makes it look dated.

      I like the sleek modern lines & curves in some others too, especially the European ones. But I’ll take function over fashion and for what we can get in the States, this is a solid and well made camper with exactly what we wanted and without stuff we didn’t want. To each their own. That tray sized table bolted to that press board will shake loose in the first month. And the shitter holding tank will to be dumped every day! Could it be any smaller? All in all. It’s a fail!!!!

      Different strokes for different folks. We love it and it’s perfect for us. And the lagoon table is not press board but real wood and still doing fine. The cassette toilet went 5 days before needing emptied and it’s quite simple to do.

    Nice press glad and fake wood that will bow, bend and break. Extended height , equals more wind resistance and clearance concerns.

      That’s why you match up your preferences and priorities before you buy. Plenty of other options. This suits us fine.

      Definitely not professional. But it’s the first time I’ve ever done a video like this. It is what it is.
