I work at McD's and I wanna go over the improvement we've made that added up to this burger. 1. Hot off the grill. This is the big one, obviously. That quarter pounder was made to order. We use fresh beef for the quarters now, too. This resulted in the grill position becoming a lot more intense. Don't be cracking jokes about flipping burgers at McD's anymore. We don't flip them anyhow, they're cooked on a clam grill that cooks both sides at once. 2. We use roma tomatoes now. They've got more flavor than typical fast food tomatoes, and the three smaller slices are less messy while eating. 3. Improved cheese. The new cheese has more flavor, but can't be left out at room temperature for as long, so we have to portion out the amount of cheese we have ready to be put on sandwiches. 4. Bacon is now cooked on a rack set into a baking sheet in a high-end convection oven. It stays flat and all the grease just falls through the rack into the baking sheet. Just so you know, you can order the Smoky BLT sauce on anything. Nuggets, Crispy Chicken, go hog wild!
Just like the Burger King Ghost Pepper Whopper, the heat is in the condiment sauce. I tried the Smoky BLT recently and liked it; however, there was too much sauce on it and the last few bites were a mess. If that was the normal amount of sauce that comes on it, it really should come in a paper wrapper because the experience of it falling apart at the end is enough to keep me from ordering it again.

At my McDonalds I usually have to take apart and rebuild my sandwiches, half of the cheese is usually sticking to the box with the sauce running out the other side. I just don't get how people don't care to make it right, when I worked at a pizza shop in the mid 80's making $3 an hour I made damn sure everything was perfect and even got a few tips because my pizza was perfectly constructed.

Of all fast food joints, McDonalds is the most consistent. I’ve gone through other fast food drive throughs and even at the same place quality will vary from day to day, but it seems that no matter what McDonalds you visit, the food is always exactly the same, no matter the time or day.
A 9/10. Wow, either they nailed this, or we have landed in the Sandalwood Multiverse where just a spritzing of this CoLogne is all you need to add exotic flavor to any burger. Love the reviews :)

I know what you mean with fast food lately. I have refused to leave my hoe to go get fast food for at least a year now. I was on the road last week and the only place open at eight at night in Clayton Ga was McDonalds. I ordered this burger and it was the best burger I’ve had from a fast food restaurant in some time.
The Back to the Future movie poster should let people realize that the accusations of him being a time traveler is 100% true. Reviewbrah was born in 1903 and discovered time travel in his young teens. He has chosen this period to remain in most of the time which also means he knows in the not so distant future there must be a catastrophe.
I ate one of these while watching the video. Is it worth the price? That's hard to say. It's difficult to price a burger nowadays because some are quite cheap while others can be quite expensive. But was it a pleasant burger? Absolutely. The tomatoes or flavorful but not messy and sloppy, the lettuce was crisp without being dry and wasn't used excessively like in some sandwiches (*ahem* Big Mac), The bacon had a presents without being too fatty, crunchy, or again over abundant, and the sauce really added a nice smoky flavor. What stuck out to me most was the cheese. I don't know if it is only used for this menu item but it is a welcome change from What has been their standard cheese in recent years. What normally tastes very synthetic and artificial tasted... well, like cheese. Plain old cheese. It even had a slightly cheddar-y feel and taste to it, which really elevated the sandwich to taste more like a handcrafted sandwich and not an assembly line fast food item. Very impressed.

This sandwich does look good, and the box, In it’s glory, does look like Jupiter, boasting it’s fabulous gassy rings for all to enjoy. If you wanted to try this, I’d recommend using the app. They have a $6 quarter pounder with cheese, medium fry, and drink deal (Which I’ve had available everyday). The app allows you to choose the smoky blt quarter pounder instead of the regular. Considering the regular price is $8, def worth considering
It reminds me of the "Big Tasty Bacon" McD introduced a few years ago in Germany. It switched from the Special to the regular Menu and seems to be really popular.

I admire McDonald’s for one thing: consistent products. Taco Bell, etc, it feels like a different recipe each time I go. And random rancid oil doesn’t help either. Also I discovered I can get the most expensive breakfast sandwich on McDonald’s breakfast menu everyday for $1 on their app. $2.70 savings. Everyday. Didn’t expect that
Consistency is also the reason why places like Starbucks are so popular. Starbucks has a good rewards program as well. I figure there's a reason why we as consumers value things like that.

Maybe your tastes have just changed, but I worked at McDonald's in 2011 and a few years after, and just recently went back to working there a few months ago. I have to say the improvements to making sure quality is high on each item has been significant since I last worked there. Improved technology and policy on holding times to ensure that any meat that isn't fresh is thrown out, including new procedures that change the amount of food cooked dynamically based on how busy the store is (Amount of product cooked is listed numerically on a display that changes). Quarter pounder meat is now cooked fresh instead of from frozen. Onions are now placed directly on the meat while it is still on the grill after it finishes cooking which gives them a grilled onion feel (This may just be my location YMMV). Plus a lot more that has improved. So you may have had a bad experience when you went, but as someone who worked around both the dates you listed I can say that it has objectively improved.

I had a very good experience with this burger. Usually when I go to McDonald’s, I am not craving a burger per se, but instead, I’d crave the taste of McDonald’s. The day I ordered it I wanted a burger, but my wife instead decided to go to McDonald’s . I ordered this and it satisfied my cravings for a genuine, good quality burger. I don’t know what they’re doing differently with this one item but they’re doing it right.
I had one of these today and the mad lads stuck three double stacks of tomato slices and five pieces of bacon on it. It was sauced up too. Obviously the tomatoes were mediocre at best but the whole package together was pretty good.
A couple years ago, McD’s in Canada said they improved the quarter pounder recipe to make them juicier. I tried it twice, and it was terrible, so dry! Haven’t tried a McDs burger since, but that looks good!

We just tried this yesterday and I have to agree....the burger surprised me and my husband. It's delicious. My husband says it's the best McDonald's burger and that they should keep it on the menu and not have it for just a limited time.
This might sound weird but you have a perfect face for makeup. I feel like your face would be an incredible canvas and I wish I could paint it. That's all. The cheekbones, clear skin, eyes and eyelid space, like you have exactly the type of look that models have.
Just yesterday I was fortunate to find, here in Portugal, the Burger King's King Chicken (ChKing over there) still on sale. On your latest BK Chicken sandwich, a lot of your viewers were lamenting this one being discontinued so I had to try it out here. It was pretty good let me tell you, and I would've never given it a chance if not for this amazing channel, so thank you! I will see if they're selling this video's burger over here too, it's really fun to go to these chains for a particular item.

Had it tonight. Pretty good. My bacon was crispy, tomatoes cut through like butter, good beef. But the smoky sauce had a bit too much of that liquid smoke flavor for my taste (which, yeah I kind of anticipated). Would probably just get a QP with lettuce, tomato and bacon next time.
@@kathleennorton7913 yeah! so the original commenter said he would rather just get a quarter pounder with lettuce, tomato, and bacon. a deluxe bacon quarter pounder at mcd's comes with bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and mayo. it's also $2 cheaper than the smokey blt quarter pounder. ordering the deluxe is also cheaper than ordering a regular quarter pounder, add lettuce, tomatoes, and bacon. so what i was saying is that if he wants a quarter pounder with lettuce, bacon, tomatoes, and cheese, it would be best to order it as a deluxe bacon quarter pounder. bcuz that will be the cheapest and it's already exactly wat he wants.
Having tried this item myself, I've enjoyed it. I actually like it better than the regular QPC. Quality-wise, I prefer McDonald's over Burger King...20 years ago, the reverse was true.
I splurged and got the double quarter pounder version of this, and loved everything about it...except the actual meat itself! Don't know why, it just tasted dried out and bland to me in a way I don't remember it being the last time I ordered a QPC a decade or so ago. Is it just me?
Whatever they use to fry their food in, just makes it worse. Their fried chicken sandwiches and fries taste like dog crap, not that I have ever tried dog crap. But I can only imagine with the help of Burger King!

They really did a great job making your sandwich, regardless of the high price. Your burger looked as close as possible to the ads that I've ever seen, which is amazing. I'm honestly considering hitting up my local McDonalds to see if they can do it as well as yours. However, I have a feeling that you got quite lucky. 🙂
I randomly stopped at McDonald's last week and tried one of these - I got the "Double" Smoky BLT. I was pretty impressed with the burger. Bacon was thicc and had some crunch, not sloppy like I expected. Veggies were fresh. And apparently QP's at McD's are cooked to order, so the burger patties themselves were also quite nice. I'd give it an 8/10, about as high as I'm willing to go on any sort of fast-food burger. Would highly recommend if you feel like eating some junk.
I just had it tonight and its good. You can really taste that smokiness coming out which I believe is mostly due to the sauce. It reminded me of like a big mac, but without the additional layer of meat, bun, cheese and thousand island. I would order it again, but not from my closest mcdonalds. Sadly my closest location yet again served me cold food and I'm not even that far from my house where it gets cold. I couldn't finish the burger because of it being on the colder side.
My local McDonald’s (new hope, pa) has really stepped up their game this last year. I’ve been pleased with all of my orders and I’m there about once a week. Every sandwich is assembled perfectly- cheese centered, nice distribution of sauces… 👍🏼
Decided to go ahead and try this after watching the video this morning. Was in a rush and ordered curbside, and when I got to my place of work and ready to eat it, I discovered that the double blt that I ordered only had 1 patty 😡. My fault there as I didn't check it at the time they brought it to me. With regards to the taste experience, it wasn't bad but definitely felt it wasn't worth the price they were charging for it. It's pretty much just a regular QPC sandwich with added strips of bacon to it.
I went to McDonalds a few days ago and was going to get something different but I saw the ad for it on the window and decided to give it a try. When I got home and opened it up, my first thought was, "wow, this actually looks like the picture, and looks like a good burger." And yeah, and it's pretty good, easily my favorite thing on the menu right now. I think somehow they are making these burgers with a little more care, because mine looked like yours, and our local McDonalds doesn't have a great reputation for making "presentable" food items.

Wow, your local prices are always so high. Near me, this sandwich is available for $6.59. In a larger nearby city in a popular area, I see it for $7.59 through the McDonalds app. Strangely enough at both McDonalds the Smoky BLT double quarter pounder is about $8.50.

I admire McDonald’s for one thing: consistent products. Taco Bell, etc, it feels like a different recipe each time I go. And random rancid oil doesn’t help either. Also I discovered I can get the most expensive breakfast sandwich on McDonald’s breakfast menu everyday for $1 on their app. $2.70 savings. Everyday. Didn’t expect that

Consistency is also the reason why places like Starbucks are so popular. Starbucks has a good rewards program as well. I figure there's a reason why we as consumers value things like that.
@@NigelMelanisticSmith Starbucks coffee is hit or miss for me. Some days it won't even wake me up. Other days it makes me jittery.

Maybe your tastes have just changed, but I worked at McDonald's in 2011 and a few years after, and just recently went back to working there a few months ago. I have to say the improvements to making sure quality is high on each item has been significant since I last worked there.
Improved technology and policy on holding times to ensure that any meat that isn't fresh is thrown out, including new procedures that change the amount of food cooked dynamically based on how busy the store is (Amount of product cooked is listed numerically on a display that changes). Quarter pounder meat is now cooked fresh instead of from frozen. Onions are now placed directly on the meat while it is still on the grill after it finishes cooking which gives them a grilled onion feel (This may just be my location YMMV). Plus a lot more that has improved.
So you may have had a bad experience when you went, but as someone who worked around both the dates you listed I can say that it has objectively improved.

that burger looks great! btw the gf brought me home a McRib, a surprise. my second ever. it was very good- covered in onions, pickles, and sauce. seems its all about the construction with this sandwich
I had a very good experience with this burger. Usually when I go to McDonald’s, I am not craving a burger per se, but instead, I’d crave the taste of McDonald’s.
The day I ordered it I wanted a burger, but my wife instead decided to go to McDonald’s . I ordered this and it satisfied my cravings for a genuine, good quality burger.
I don’t know what they’re doing differently with this one item but they’re doing it right.
I had one of these today and the mad lads stuck three double stacks of tomato slices and five pieces of bacon on it. It was sauced up too. Obviously the tomatoes were mediocre at best but the whole package together was pretty good.
A couple years ago, McD’s in Canada said they improved the quarter pounder recipe to make them juicier. I tried it twice, and it was terrible, so dry! Haven’t tried a McDs burger since, but that looks good!
I ain't paying 8 bucks for a burger from McDonalds. Who do they think they are. I'll just order a regular Quarter Pounder with a side of smokey sauce.

We just tried this yesterday and I have to agree....the burger surprised me and my husband. It's delicious. My husband says it's the best McDonald's burger and that they should keep it on the menu and not have it for just a limited time.
This might sound weird but you have a perfect face for makeup. I feel like your face would be an incredible canvas and I wish I could paint it. That's all. The cheekbones, clear skin, eyes and eyelid space, like you have exactly the type of look that models have.

Just yesterday I was fortunate to find, here in Portugal, the Burger King's King Chicken (ChKing over there) still on sale. On your latest BK Chicken sandwich, a lot of your viewers were lamenting this one being discontinued so I had to try it out here.
It was pretty good let me tell you, and I would've never given it a chance if not for this amazing channel, so thank you! I will see if they're selling this video's burger over here too, it's really fun to go to these chains for a particular item.

Had it tonight. Pretty good. My bacon was crispy, tomatoes cut through like butter, good beef. But the smoky sauce had a bit too much of that liquid smoke flavor for my taste (which, yeah I kind of anticipated). Would probably just get a QP with lettuce, tomato and bacon next time.

@@kathleennorton7913 yeah! so the original commenter said he would rather just get a quarter pounder with lettuce, tomato, and bacon. a deluxe bacon quarter pounder at mcd's comes with bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and mayo. it's also $2 cheaper than the smokey blt quarter pounder. ordering the deluxe is also cheaper than ordering a regular quarter pounder, add lettuce, tomatoes, and bacon. so what i was saying is that if he wants a quarter pounder with lettuce, bacon, tomatoes, and cheese, it would be best to order it as a deluxe bacon quarter pounder. bcuz that will be the cheapest and it's already exactly wat he wants.

Having tried this item myself, I've enjoyed it. I actually like it better than the regular QPC. Quality-wise, I prefer McDonald's over Burger King...20 years ago, the reverse was true.
I do enjoy that flame broiled taste and the toppings of Burger King more than McDonald’s. But overall, I agree

Whatever they use to fry their food in, just makes it worse. Their fried chicken sandwiches and fries taste like dog crap, not that I have ever tried dog crap. But I can only imagine with the help of Burger King!

Honestly this is the first time I’ve ever seen a real-life fast food burger that looked as good as a photo in their ads.
They really did a great job making your sandwich, regardless of the high price.
Your burger looked as close as possible to the ads that I've ever seen, which is amazing. I'm honestly considering hitting up my local McDonalds to see if they can do it as well as yours.

I randomly stopped at McDonald's last week and tried one of these - I got the "Double" Smoky BLT. I was pretty impressed with the burger. Bacon was thicc and had some crunch, not sloppy like I expected. Veggies were fresh. And apparently QP's at McD's are cooked to order, so the burger patties themselves were also quite nice. I'd give it an 8/10, about as high as I'm willing to go on any sort of fast-food burger. Would highly recommend if you feel like eating some junk.
I just had it tonight and its good. You can really taste that smokiness coming out which I believe is mostly due to the sauce. It reminded me of like a big mac, but without the additional layer of meat, bun, cheese and thousand island. I would order it again, but not from my closest mcdonalds. Sadly my closest location yet again served me cold food and I'm not even that far from my house where it gets cold. I couldn't finish the burger because of it being on the colder side.
I haven't eaten meat in a few years and don't eat a lot of fast food anymore, but I still enjoy your reviews. So much fun.
My local McDonald’s (new hope, pa) has really stepped up their game this last year. I’ve been pleased with all of my orders and I’m there about once a week. Every sandwich is assembled perfectly- cheese centered, nice distribution of sauces… 👍🏼

Decided to go ahead and try this after watching the video this morning. Was in a rush and ordered curbside, and when I got to my place of work and ready to eat it, I discovered that the double blt that I ordered only had 1 patty 😡. My fault there as I didn't check it at the time they brought it to me. With regards to the taste experience, it wasn't bad but definitely felt it wasn't worth the price they were charging for it. It's pretty much just a regular QPC sandwich with added strips of bacon to it.

I went to McDonalds a few days ago and was going to get something different but I saw the ad for it on the window and decided to give it a try. When I got home and opened it up, my first thought was, "wow, this actually looks like the picture, and looks like a good burger." And yeah, and it's pretty good, easily my favorite thing on the menu right now. I think somehow they are making these burgers with a little more care, because mine looked like yours, and our local McDonalds doesn't have a great reputation for making "presentable" food items.
I make sure to smash the "like" button before watching the video because I'm guaranteed the review will be entertaining!

Wow, your local prices are always so high. Near me, this sandwich is available for $6.59. In a larger nearby city in a popular area, I see it for $7.59 through the McDonalds app. Strangely enough at both McDonalds the Smoky BLT double quarter pounder is about $8.50.
Your prices are the same as where I live. No tax here.
