The second year I came to terms with giving up my dreams
Mind was severed from the means that helped me write these rhyme schemes
Brain was inflamed. the fatigue was crushing
Hard to remain sane with your brain combusting
And the third year was murder, living in a purga-
Tory full of worry, wouldn't live to be thirty
Lifestyle hurt me, always in my bed tomb
Re-arrange the alphabet and all the letters spell "doom"
Light hurt my eyes, popping pills to survive
When you're twenty-three and mentally you steadily decline
Twenty-four I was poor, disability benefits
What's the benefit of disability? It's irrelevant
Twenty-five and the scars that were etched, they cracked
Elastic bands only stretch so far and then snap
Deep in psychosis, hallucinations, troubled vision
Visits from the underworld were conjuring my superstition
Twenty-five, living back at home with my mum
But not because I'm a bum, alone and physically done
So thin, so frail, so weak I'd become
And my skin so pale, never kissed by the Sun
One time I carved a whole in my chest, just to feel
I wish that was a metaphor, the struggle was real
When you're living in a holocaust you buckle and kneel
There's relief in the teeth of the kiss of cold steel
Facts, twenty-six I'm highly medicated and the pain sophisticated
While I'm laying broke and naked on my back
I brought my microphone into my coffin, started droppin'
Raw thoughts with the grim reaper knocking on the track

I heard an angel beckon on this treacherous road
Was a stem cell doctor with a generous glow
And a cell transplant brought me out of the cold
And my skin got younger and my body got stronger
And my stomach felt hunger for a door that was closed

This music I give you, pain that I live through
Everything I've been through is yours to hold
Vera Hall “Troubles So Hard” from the 1930’s. Ren paid her estate to use her original version because he resonated with the lyrics and also because he did a busking session with Sam Tompkins when he first got back into the world of the living and the video went viral and gave Ren the belief that maybe he still had a shot at possibly doing something with his music.
Also, Ren said this track was the final chapter to Sick Boi. We’re going to be seeing some completely different music from Ren. He’s said that he admires David Bowie for his ability to mix things up. Ren said that we’re all only here for a short time, why not take on different persona’s?

❤️🔥Ren’s treatments in Canada were supposed to last 4-6 months. It will have ended up taking over 1.5 years this July. He’s moving to LA in August. LA is a good place for him to be located. It’s just a two hour flight to his doctor in Calgary. It’s central for the music industry here in the states. Plus, he has aspirations in the film industry. Many of his friends/team are moving along with him. It makes sense. Ren understands his health will never be 💯. It’s our responsibility to not be too demanding. We need to understand touring isn’t realistically possible. We need to appreciate how hard he works to get his art from his brain to our ears. 😉❤️🔥✌️
💯 can’t wait for Hollywood to me the one and only Ren. He deserves all the success that he is destined to obtain.
I believe he's also signed up to Andrew Lloyd Webber's sons management agency in LA who are apparently really free spirited and not controlling like many others so he should still have overall control over his music and creativity
@@portiadavenport9866 That’s Amazing! No one should get in the way of his creativity. He is absolutely brilliant and all of us here are really excited to see him do what Ren does best in Hollywood. Wow! How far he has come. Love it!
Actually moving to LA around September-October, he is going back to Brighton for couple of months after treatment. There are whispers (maybe even SHOUTS) that there will be a couple of Big Push reunion shows while in the UK.

Ren created his “Chapters” for a reason. He’s trying to bring attention to the various illnesses that cause people like myself that go “MISSING” from society. You guys should consider doing his “Chapters”. Help bring attention to Ren’s cause. 😉❤️✌️

Love you guys. 💕Great discussion. The way he produced this backtrack is amazing. In the 7-8 yrs. Ren never gave up hope and was always researching and trying everything. It was Ren who figured out that what he had was bacterial which led him to a specialist in Brussels who finally tested him for Lyme at the end of 2015. He still has a lot of symptoms and is allergic to almost everything.
Thank you 🙏 Not only a Brilliant Musician but a Warrior as well an absolute inspiration to the World. We Love Ren.

You would really relate to the 8 Chapters. He goes in great detail. It's hard and beautiful and very shocking.
If you notice he's wearing the Bulls jacket when he's talking about age 23.. Ren is always thinking.
That final phrase - everything I’ve been through is yours to hold - I read like a final release of bitterness. Very powerful and profound. Tests for Lyme disease were not routinely available in his area at the time and knowledge among the medical profession was very limited. Still, someone should have realised this was something to be referred to a specialist much earlier. Music saved him, plus the horror of his friend’s suicide, making him hold on not to put his family through the same thing.
Ren new album will be him play guitar and Piano him singing its going to be called Slaughterhouse

After having listened to Ren's Chapter Series Intently and multiple times, this track just encapsulates his story so well and serves as musical accompaniment for The Chapters. Ren's experiences are very familiar to me to say the least, as is often the case with many of his supporters. Ren's success is so deserved and I do truly hope it continues. Ren is the medicine many of us need. So raw and vibrant in color, combined with his naturally emotive performance! Indeed Ren....Your Limo has finally arrived!! The Beat as others stated was Vera Hall's Acapella vocal from the 30's. Aside from the vocals, everything else you hear is Ren's own production, as he had purchased the license to the original Vera Hall recording.
100% deserves all the inevitable success he has and will continue having. Smart man for buying the copyright of the sample. Ren is a true Living Legend.

He's in calgary where he's getting treatment
Ren purchased the rights to use the exact sample that Moby used on his Natural Blues Album from 1999, it was Vera Hall, Trouble So Hard 1937 (Not from the 60's NoDrink but nice guess😜). Ren personally mixed this track on his own from top to bottom adding the guitar licks, percussion and strings as well as all the synths with the distortions created by altering the vocals in the sample itself.
The actual sample by Vera Hall has no instrumental whatsoever. You can pull it up the original sample by Vera Hall on TH-cam and take a listen for yourself. Ren has a short on his channel that shows him producing parts of this track and what methods he used to get certain sounds.🔥🔥
You definitely need to watch the chapters 1-8 - on Rens other channel RenMakesStuff, those and this song are what Ren has made for Missing Millions awareness - shining a light on all the people suffering with an "invisible" illness and have dropped out of life. re the "what's the benefit of disability" line - he's talking about the fact that disabled people get something called from the Government called Disability Benefits - ie you get paid money because you are disabled, but he's questioning why it's called a benefit? What is the benefit of being disabled is what he is saying. Which is how those of us getting that benefit feel, obviously we would much rather be taking part in life, and able to do the things other people can do, instead of being excluded from parts of life, and getting paid instead.
As a grandma with young grandsons, I really appreciate how Ren’s music has young men like yourselves talking about topics that men of my era never would have mentioned. So appreciate your reactions. Take care of yourselves.
