- A brand new challenge and not a bad way to start this quest. I decided to do a Water type mono challenge last year and I’ve finally started it with this Shiny Mudkip. I haven’t found a shiny female starter in a long time too so it was nice to get one. She shined just under odds after only one Poochyena.
I did hunt a Mudkip a few years ago but I wanted to fully evolve this one as I kept the original one as a Marshtomp.
I hope you’re excited to see this quest unfold. I’m really looking forward to hunting a lot of these targets like Corphish and Relicanth which are extremely rare in Gen 3 or at least not hunted very much.
If you’ve never done a monotype challenge, I’d really recommend it. It’s a fun way to play through any game.

Yo Sonikks, congrats on the shiny female mudkip, a few weeks ago I got a shiny dialga(2582sr) in platinum and a shiny cresselia in us(5656sr), now in diamond I'm going to use the void glitch to shiny hunt the mythicals, good luck on your next hunt.

He has PTSD now, he can't go outside ever again.
Birch should give the shiny sooner if he knows what's good for him.
I once did a playthrough of one game of every region with just grass types and it was so much fun. Monotype runs are underrated.
I did something slightly similar where I randomized red through white 2 and only used Farfetch’d aside from HM mons

Congrats man! I just found my shiny Torchic last night after 5 months and around 10000 resets! So rewarding!! I watched this yesterday, and i was kinda mad at how fast you got it. Low and behold, I got my shiny for my shiny badge quest yesterday too!
Congrats on the shiny. I love how the shiny mudkip line in gen 3 goes from super cute with mudkip, to super derpy with Marshtomp, to creepy with Swampert. I really enjoyed evolving mine recenty.

Was hunting mudkip/double hunting rowlet and checked this video out. As you got your pooch, I took a glance before I did my mudkip soft reset and saw blue eyes. The uncatchable poochyena strikes.

I have been rewatching your hoenn dtq videos while hunting for mudkip to start my own sapphire dtq! I finished your ruby and sapphire dtq videos and moved onto this and got my mudkip as soon as your first shiny pooch came on screen.

I reset for Mudkip in Alpha Sapphire years ago but accidently forgot to move him (and all my other shinies) to Bank before resetting. Today I've started my hunt in Ruby to reclaim Bubblegum the Mudkip.
Oh I can't wait for barboach. Hands down the best shiny for me gens 3-5. The 3D model lost its charm, but man that BW sprite is just the best

Have you tried the Pomeg portal glitch in Emerald to warp to Birth Island? You can use it to warp to Far Away Island and Naval Rock too. It's a lot easier than other pomeg glitches and you could do RA's for shiny hunting those legendaries without a cheat device.

I decided to hunt Suicune in Crystal on the 3DS. Not joke I got it in 75 encounters. Needless to say my girlfriend was very worried when I was freaking out at 7 this morning.
