Dutch Way Restaurant in Gap - Another great eatery in Amish Country

- I got to visit for the first time in the beginning of September 2024. Very cozy and pleasant restaurant, serving homemade & fresh food with many PA Dutch recipes.
This is one of their 4 locations in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. Gap, Schaefferstown and Myerstown all have a market/grocery store and a full-sized restaurant. Their Ephrata location, opened in Spring of 2022, has a market and a cafe.
Another great option to eat wonderful food in Lancaster County!

Looks like we will be adding one more restaurant to our growing list of favorites. How far is it from Katie's? This could be a good alternative if the lines at Katie's are to long. Need to go clean up the yard and get ready for a fall trip. God Bless and safe travels.😀😃

This grocery store has been recommended to us but I had no idea there was a restaurant inside. This restaurant is so much bigger than I first thought. The salad bar did look fresh. Thanks for sharing a new place with us. Another great review!

I'm a traditionalist. My daughter loved Mac and Cheese on pizza. I had to send her to Confession as an Italian just to ask for forgiveness. LOL

One of my favorite stops when in Lancaster! I get my Country Sausage in the grocery store.

I agree with the Yoders vibe. When you first showed the place and said if you walk down there you would go to the Market. I was like YODERS!

This used to be the buffet that my wife and I used to go to all the time from my hometown of Kennett Square. Which is about 30 mins away. The old hot bar had some "henny" chicken that was light and crispy and oh so good. Unfortunately COVID killed the hot bar at the Gap location. I did not know that Myerstown still has a buffet. I still stop at the grocery store when I travel between SE PA and Harrisburg. The grocery store sells most of the things that are on the Soup/Salad bar. They also sell the ham balls in a pre-packed either two or four pack in the refrigerated section near the deli. Another thing that Dutch-Way does in the summer are chicken bbqs at each location. I made it to every chicken bbq this past summer except the one in Gap for some reason. It's priced reasonable at $6.50 (2024 price) for a 1/4 chicken, roll, bag of chips and a soda. I usually add an extra piece of chicken and a baked potato for just under 10 bucks. Prices for the Summer of 2024 did increase 50 cents from 2023. Dutch-Way has a great Christmas sale a few days before Christmas. Boxes of 40 chicken legs for $40, $5 bags of shrimp, etc... Last year the sale was honored at Ephrata and Schafferstown. I went to the one in Ephrata and the place was so crowded the check out line went up and down 3-4 aisles before you were assigned a register to check out. It was held the Friday before Christmas so with Christmas on Wednesday in 2024 I image they'll do it on the Friday before again. Join their e-mail list and they'll send a digital weekly add and any specials at the restaurant right to your e-mail. I do not work for them. I'm just a long time customer that enjoys the place. Great video as usual and I look forward to seeing where you explore next. PS) I hear that Hershey Farms has reopened and has a rebuilt buffet.

I would LOVE to see the stores that Friday before Christmas 🎄! Unfortunately we are done traveling after our October trip to PA. But maybe next year!! I love Beets and Hard boiled eggs but the last time I was down I tried one of those Red eggs and I am sorry I have not acquired that taste yet. LOL

@ElleLiving they were one of the 1st TH-cam people I started following and if you go to there videos go back about 2 years now they did a TH-cam video at the duchway also they do a lot in Tennessee and this year they added in ocean city Maryland

The Soup and Salad bar at Dutch-Way was once part of the larger buffet they used to run. They've been running it as a solo thing for about 4 1/2 years so they must be doing pretty well with it. From the video it looks as if they just removed the hot bar area and rotated the salad bar 45 degrees from where it originally sat. As Elle pointed out most of the soup/salad bar sales are as the add on to the main menu. The price for the desert bar at $2.00 extra is well worth it. All of the salads, soups and deserts are made and sold inside the grocery store so they make most of what's on the bar in fairly large batches.
