  • This is about the six awards you can win at Boot Camp. I also talk about the 3 academic tests and types of questions on them. Holiday Routine (Every Sunday except first 2). Talk about things you learn; weapons training, tying knots, etc...

    I can't express how grateful i am that you made this "series". Im trying to learn whats going on in boot camp as my partner is currently in week 5 and i dont want to be in the dark about anything. You are the first youtuber ive seen that is talking humorously rather than super seriously, which put me off of learning in the past. Thanks soooo much!!!

    Hey I just found your channel and you are a huge motivation for me to join! I'm taking my asvab next Thursday so hopefully you get back to me soon, what should I study for the asvab? Any websites or books? Thank you!

    • @GingerSailor
      @GingerSailor  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Roy Foley military.com has a good series of practice asvab tests and portions that would give you an in depth look into what you need to study. Math, (mostly algebra and basic), reading comprehension, verbal (vocab stuff), mechanical appliances, electrical equipment, shop class stuff (types of sanders and saws and stuff) and automotive knowledge for some reason lol. those are most if not all of the portions. and thank you for the ego boost lol

    What are you doing like is there just like infantry like boots on the ground or search and rescue

    • @GingerSailor
      @GingerSailor  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Richard McFarland I'm still in training to be a submariner. There is search and rescue but as far as the specifics of each job, the navy website and a recruiter have far more answers for you than I do

    I have a question. I have really long think curly hair, ( im a ginger too lol) I was thinking I could cut all my hair off just to make things easier and quicker while I'm boot camp.. It would be one less thing to worry about or get yelled at for. My question is do girls with buzz cuts get looked at as weird or anything? And would I be able to grow it back out?

    • @GingerSailor
      @GingerSailor  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Emma Proctor its not that weird at all. It would definitely make things easier to manage. About 10 ladies in my division ( i was in an integrated division) went that route. a bit less than half at least had theirs cut shorter than normal. And you would be able to grow it back out. You can keep it long while you're in boot camp but you have to keep in up in a bun or at least woven tightly so its not flopping around

    Hey ginger sailor is this all you have to do when your trying to became a aviation rescue swimmer

    • @GingerSailor
      @GingerSailor  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Richard McFarland If you sign up as an aviation rescue swimmer I think you will be in a special division (800 diviision) that actual does a more extreme fitness regime than the one I highlightet in my videos. The majority of boot campers (over 90%) will experience roughly what I've highlighted in my videos but an special operations (this may include rescue divers/swimmers) will have a different experience. My advice would be to find someone that has been in an 800 division and ask them. Also talk to your recruiter about it and he/she may be able to give you more enlightening information

    hi I have a question! my husband has joined the navy and is in boot camp right now, been in almost 3 weeks. so far I have gotten 3 phone calls the first being when he got to basics. he told me he would call me in two weeks. but he called me not even a week later just to talk. is this good? I assume it is. then I got that second week phone call. any ways my question is how often will he be able to call me?

    • @GingerSailor
      @GingerSailor  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Peyton Gregory usually once a week. Some RDCs are a bit more lenient that others and let people call a week earlier than usual. Since you two are married, I'm sure they made a few exceptions

    Hi! You mentioned you got a 95 on the ASVAB and that you are in submarine school right now. I got a 93 and I am going through the Nuclear Program plus submarine volunteer. I was curious if you were doing another job along with the submarine and am curious on how that works. I am trying my best to make sure I can get on a sub during my Navy career because they just recently allowed women to go aboard subs. Also, these videos have been very helpful and I know what to prepare for now.

    • @GingerSailor
      @GingerSailor  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Rachael LeVaughn I'm a sonar tech, but as for extra jobs on a sub, you don't have to worry about that until the end of 1st or beginning of the 2nd yr. you can pick up extra duties to make you look good (there are plenty) but as long as you make it through the nuke pipeline you will have a head start on most others. Nukes have a hardish job and a large amount is expected of them regardless of extra duties. I have no extra duties and still have to worry about getting qualified on submarines first (an initiation process really). As far as I know, the female enlisted are all going to GNs(lucky devils). I trained alongside the first 4 females they alowed on subs straight out of boot camp and they all got GNs.

      +GingerSailor Okay thank you...maybe I'll consider it after my nuclear training and after my first deployment.

      Azna7 As of right now my thoughts about the Nuke Program are very positive. I graduate A School in March as an EM and so far I'm doing very well. The Nuke Program is hard although it can all depend on the person and how much time you put into your studying. Some people have different study techniques and some don't need to study at all. For me, I definitely have to put in my time but it is well worth it to see myself improve.
      Before entering, I heard a lot of negative thoughts about the Nuke Program and that i shouldn't join but I honestly felt that coming into the program with a positive attitude has helped a lot. They look more for people who work hard than people who do minimum, no matter their score.
      If you have more questions, I'd be glad to answer...I really do like the nuke program and encourage more to join because it opens you up to many opportunities, both in the Navy and the Civilian world.

      Azna7 That's awesome! I'm glad! ET was definitely my top choice too and MM was my second but hey put me as EM but I honestly love it. I'm glad I'm an EM. And going to school here will definitely further your education in Nuclear power so it's a good choice!

    • @rachaellevaughn2738
      @rachaellevaughn2738 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it's totally fine, and yes you are right, ET and EM are very similar, they are actually, in the future, supposed to be combined into one rate. The thing is going into bootcamp I honestly didn't get the difference between ET and EM so I put EM to the side because I didn't understand what it was. If you are looking for ET I would put EM as your second choice.
      And in a way I did want MM because it would be something different than what i've done before. But I will say I am happy with getting EM.

    Hey ginger does the Navy look at you're ASVAB score even if your in college? and have college credits?

    • @GingerSailor
      @GingerSailor  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Datsun Nissan yes they do. All enlisted jobs use the ASVAB to see if you meet the minimum requirements for that job
