    As you say Harri, Eric Clapton and his band are tighter than the skin on a wiener! How he played so well when he was drunk and stoned so much of the time is beyond me. This is more of a tribute, again, by Clapton to JJ Cale--a Tulsa, Oklahoma native! Clapton has stated there is only one other guitarist he would want to be, and that was JJ Cale! This style of blues is called "Tulsa Blues" in tribute to JJ Cale. Clapton's love of this blues style spurred him to state "I can play it til the cows come home!" Ha, ha! 🎸💘😎👌😉

    Several of his bandmates...Carl Radle, Jamie Oldaker, Dick Sims and also JJ Cale were from Oklahoma. That is why he did this song. Eric is a Don Williams fan. Don did it country style, and Eric did it rock style. Both versions are good. Of course, Eric's passion is blues songs, where his talent shines.

      LOLOL. I'm still trying to figure out what inspired poor Billy Ray...
      That was probably the piano player or production. Maybe he produced that album. It wasn't a terrible album though. I actually thought the songs were pretty good. He became a heart throb too fast. Once he wasn't shaking his ass, women stopped listening, men disliked him, and who is left to buy concert tickets??

    Honky-tonk music? Sure, why not? Labels for genres of music are completely made-up and arbitrary. Nowadays it seems fashionable to call this “Americana” or maybe “roots”. Years ago, it could have been called country-rock. To me, honky-tonk is a piano style (which this record has). But I could be off by miles there, too.

    • @sandracooke7286
      @sandracooke7286 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude...he was guessing at Honky Tonk, was he not? He didn't say that's anhonkyntonknsong. Be quiet and LISTEN

    • @sandracooke7286
      @sandracooke7286 ปีที่แล้ว

      Americana or Roots? Go educate yourself a little bit. It's pretty much Southern rock. But yes...all genres are mixed up so who cares about the appropriate label... Oh wait. There are a lot of people upset about a beer can label these days....damn 😮

    • @fan123casual8
      @fan123casual8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe I wasn’t clear in my post, or perhaps it comes across in the written word differently than I intended. I did say “sure, why not” and “I could be miles off”. Just trying to contribute to the conversation. The Americana thing comes from this: this past year, Jackson Browne’s latest album was nominated for a Grammy in the category that they called “Americana.” Which I found odd because it’s just the same singer-songwriter, folk, folk-rock that he’s been playing since 1967. But in the 80’s they started calling it light rock, and now they’re calling it something else. It just goes to show that the labels for genres of music are made up and are not particularly useful. But that’s all trivial. I just enjoy the music, and this channel in particular. Happy YouTubing and best of luck. 😊👍

    This has a little too much rock in it to be true honky-tonk like when I was younger, it might be considered so now because country isn't country anymore. It is more of a mix of pop/rap/hip hop depending where the artist grew up. Because most country artists don't come from the country and have never listened to old school country and they don't know what real country sounds like.

    • @sandracooke7286

    I find it a boring, formulaic boogie-type song - the sort of thing done by countless others over the years. Don't care who wrote it, or did it first. This could have been written by Leon Russell who churned out a lot of this stuff. I don't know why Clapton likes this song so much, because some of his own songs are a lot better than this.
