Are the most-liked levels really that good? That is the question.
They are, well designed as well as fun and challenging
To me they're all kinda the same. I also think music levels are overrated.

The first level is pretty well designed, it fits the cave theme, and has fun challenging gameplay. Sometimes people just boo a level because it’s hard
Maybe the level somehow appears to lower skill players, so the jumping challenges makes the boo it immediately. Algorithm fault?

Most boo’d levels are either complete trash or a really challenging level that a bunch of people rage quit on it😂
Mario Maker 3 needs to add an un boo button for people who change their minds or boo by mistake.
And the ability to undo a like. There are times where I’ve accidentally hit the like button and wished I could undo it.
@@BlackMaleLion that seems like a given considering they go hand in hand. I remember how people can't skip while airborne so levels full of bumpers would get a ton of accidental stars from people trying to skip them.

I have a level with the title "Pick a burrito" It has been played once and disliked once. So it has a 100% boo rate. How is that level missing in the video?
Probably because 100% boo doesn't count for that exact reason, it could be just a single person, so he probably searched the levels with most boos to likes ratio

I thing 1-2 sideways got a lot of boos because people kept on falling down.

Okay I looked at the first level and it has more likes and boos combined than plays... Someone hacked or something for some reason lol. I knew there was NO WAY a level with almost 50% likes to plays was the most booed.
A level can get a single play but yield multiple likes and boos when played in multiplayer, so one of the things I attempted to filter search for was levels that were not played a whole lot in multiplayer, specifically levels with 5 or less versus plays, yet higher than a certain play count threshold of I believe 25 in this case.
@@DSteves Ahh interesting, so the likes and boos from versus count? Do they add/deduct maker points? I never thought it mattered to the maker score whether or not I booed a level in versus... lol

It’s trapped air. If you were stuck in the middle of a long pipe the air wouldn’t be very breathable

@@mr.pringlesspeedrunsratio and percent are more or less the same thing 😅 "percent" really just means "times 100" speaking mathematically. See this example:
5÷20=0.25
so 5 is 25% of 20
The ratio is 0.25 -> it's 25%
Maybe I'm thinking too mathematically here, but ratios and percent are kinda the same thing for me. At the end of the day, it's really just a question of how you scale it 😅

There were a couple of trips to hidden gem city in this episode, and then a genuine boo level at the end
Most boo’d levels are only boo’d the most because they are already some of the most popular levels

Can you do another level of the UNO MASS series in MM1? I'd like to see some old, probably dated or patched, classics before online shuts down!
A footprint is aqcuired when a person starts playing a level, even if it's when the same person returns to play the level again. So if a level has 88 footprints and 40 likes, then that means around 50% of the people who played the level (or more) liked the course. In my experience that's a pretty good ratio, even if all the other people boo'd it.

to be fair that was a correct way of using the meowsers as an obstacle. unfortunately the rest of the level was one large design flaw

Beat different climbing tests after running from three Bowsers and...
#1 First level was clearly a result of a bunch of "Rage boos".
#2 John Mayer is an ugly, terrible singer; but his guitar skills are legendary.
#3 1-2 on its side had a retry door at the bottom.

Cryptict Ruins: 40 hearts, 1.4 boo ratio equals 56 boos, so 96 evaluations, but it was only played by 88 people. How?
Edit: I think the answer is "DGR is bad at math", but I could be mistaken. But at 14:00 he says "19 likes to 51 boos" in a level that 68 people played.

I strongly disagree with the not-heart issue with the koopalings. I think that level deserved a heart!
My theory is that the *actual* worst levels get few to no boos because people either want to move on after playing or don't even finish it in the first place. Whereas people tend to boo things that they initially have high expectations for (because it's actually pretty good) but then end up disappointed by a small detail. And so most "highly booed" levels are actually decent or even really good, just maybe a bit long or repetitive or just straight-up too hard for some people who start playing and enjoying them

I suspect the first level's unpopularity is probably due a lot of novice players who don't know you can spin jump off spinies or use the spin in midair to control your fall and stuff, so they just think it's impossible.

For everyone who creates SMM (or in any other games, i guess) levels, take all dislikes as a lesson, so you can improve easier than when you'd only get false compliments.
That way you'll learn, and you'll get more people actually liking your levels, the more you improve!
It's with anything in life, really, being able to improve whenever you get criticism!
Not to be confused with just some hate you'd get, cuz hate isn't always because of you.
Hate is just when others wanna bully you, not when trying to tell you that they don't like something from you.
Even if it's hate, you gotta improve to not be as bad as the haters say you would be.
In short: Improving yourself is better than not doing so.

I dunno if Chris could improve his editing skills, cuz he's trying to make fun(like not too many bad parts etc) videos with many cut parts of Dave's weird playstyle, and that's always hard, haha!

Only that last one was a deserved boo. Having a bit of challenge in your level really isn’t a crime :/ It’s really a shame that people’s knee jerk reaction to a difficult jump is just to boo an entire level such in the case of 1-2 but it’s on it’s side! That was a really fun one! Just don’t boo it if it’s too tough for you!

Some of these were so good until the infinite fireball boss fight.
Where does it say the Dislike ratio?
If I recall it is from a program that dsteves wrote. Not sure if it utilizes the level viewer or if there is some other database it pulls from.
I've genuinely played good levels that are worse than that first one lol, It is by no means bad. Hard maybe (I haven't played it, But I'm not very good so I'd definitely struggle with it), But that in no way makes it bad.

I'd say the Spanish level is "quite flawed but far from the worst" . . altho that's only because there are so many bad/flawed levels are in mario maker 2 as it is
the 1-2 sideways level tho: that one is just long, quite hard, and tedious to replay, . it's just not for everyone, that's the problem
Dave sees anything difficult that people don’t like as them being bad players. Which, while maybe true they aren’t able to beat it, isn’t reallyyy the reason most newer players boo. Neutrally just exiting is a lot more common. Definitely a very tedious level, even Dave seemed kinda annoyed at having one chance to do some of the jumps. I see a lot of kaizos with people complaining and that’s not only valid but probably the most sane response to seeing something that seems impossible. Genuinely takes hours of practice just to learn some tricks and that’s not gonna be a fun experience for most players. I feel like the fact the game isn’t very alive anymore and most of the player base is now the fans who were here from the start has contributed to pretty elitist mentalities to those who aren’t that.
People don’t like doing something that isn’t fun, and I’m glad Dave was at least bringing up that most of it was him just being used to certain level types. I didn’t really see it with that level (1-2 sideways), or generally around harder levels though. Because the assumption is that it’s somehow invalid to be annoyed at a level you hate when it’s “not the creator’s fault” or “you just suck.” When those are valid reasons to be upset with an experience playing a game you want to enjoy

I think people use the boo/like buttons as an indicator of if they can beat it or not, which is why some get crazy bad ratios.

The most *BOO'D* levels would be of the following: Frustration, Hidden Dev Items, Dev Doors, Soft locks, Death Doors/Pipes, etc..
Dev paths also cause a lot of boos.
Bean Burrito-style levels (or a level with a section in that style), refreshing levels (or a level with a section in that style) and a level that has a lot of dead ends with a path that’s off-the-beaten-path are more things that cause people to boo levels. L
