I did this design also for my flock in January of 2020 using the exact same toilet valve and 4 inch PVC and caps. The only differences in mine are the following. I partitioned a part of my coop to raise chicks which require different feed, but i wanted to use the waterer to water both the separated flocks. So, instead of coming out of the main chamber with PVC, i used a 1/4 inch tubing fitting and mounted the chamber at a little higher elevation so I could use the 1/4 inch tubing and various fittings to run as many branches around my coop as I desired. I also used horizontal nipples screwed into PVC for the outlets, as they are much less prone to leaks and other problems. After near 14 months of this I only had one problem. I had to shut off the water supply to this system just recently due to a rare hard freeze in my area. In a few days I was able to turn the supply back on with no damage to the system. Being 70 years old, I love this thing...Maybe I should post my no waste self feeder design on my end. I love it too....

One way you could possibly entice them to use the waterer nippers is by pointing a laser pointer at the metal tips

A simple way to train s flock to the nipples is let them get thirsty a couple of hours, then go trigger the nipples by hand. It only takes one chicken to see the water dripping out, They learn from their own kind very quickly.
