Back then..... there was room for everybody. If you were good enough to get a popular DJ to play it on the radio, you would be discovered overnight. The playtime would just skyrocket and soon the entire country would hear it.Back then calling radio stations was like listening to itunes today.

The Sytlistics were one of many artists that were part of "The Philadelphia Sound" (also known as The Sound of Philadelphia ("TSOP"), or Philly Soul.) It is a genre of late 1960s-1970s soul music characterized by funk influences and lush instrumental arrangements, often featuring sweeping strings and piercing horns. The biggest bands and artists included The Stylistics, The Spinners, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, The O'Jays, Teddy Pendergrass, The Whispers, The Delfonics, The Three Degrees, Billy Paul, Lou Rawls, The Chi-Lites, The Manhattans, and Daryl Hall & John Oates. Any of these artists would make for a worthwhile reaction!

One of the last vintage-style Motown groups, and awesome singers. In a class with the Temptations, the Supremes and the Four Tops. When I was a kid - ages and ages ago, we listened to the many artists of Motown, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and the Four Seasons and nobody cared that some were black and some were white. As an old guy, I've never understood how music later split along those lines. Great music is great music. As Smash Mouth said in "Walking on the Sun," What the hell happened? Excellent choice to review.

Stylistic hits "You make me feel brand new, You are everything, Break up to make up, Stop look listen to your heart & You'll never get to heaven." Prince said "Betcha bye golly wow" has the most beautiful melody. Aah, Bell & Creed Songwriting partners, Linda Creed Co-wrote alot of these hits at the age of 23. Unfortunately, she died at the age of 37. Linda was Jewish born and raised in Philadelphia, She wrote the lyrics to "The greatest love of all." Thom Bell was a Jamaican born in American Singer & Songwriter. Awesome collaboration aka Bell & Creed! "You're alone all the time; does it ever puzzle you, have you asked why you seem to fall in love, out again, do you ever really love or just pretend? Why fool yourself, don't be afraid to help yourself. It's never to late, to late to Stop; look, listen to your heart and what it's saying. Stop, look, listen to your heart and what it's saying love, love, love!" Awesome Orchestration of Music, Vocal Harmonys and use of Crescendo. I love all their music! Thanks for the reaction to such a Classy & timeless group.

I was leaving everything behind and didn't know if I would pass this way again, and then Russell Thompkins tore me up with his amazing falsetto voice. Ya'll I thought I was hearing an angel. The greatest falsetto of all time. Of course I made it back or I wouldn't write this down. I'm an old man, but I still have a young heart. But in the end time has it's way with all of us. This music was on the radio everyday growing up. These classics were loved by black and white kids. I am white and watched soul train b.c every Sat morning!

I was stationed on the USS Enterprise when these songs were first popular. I was 17 years old. Most of my other white friends would give me a hard time because I was in love with Soul music. There was no one greater then the Stylistics. The only group I listened to as much was the Jackson 5. I had homemade clothes made in Hong Kong and they looked a lot like this. With them and My high healed shoes ( Yes men wore them then) I was styling . I'm now 68 and this song brought back all those memories. So young people take everyday one day at a time. Cherish each day because your going to blink and you will be 68. I so wish I could relive those times.

Thank you so much for your service 💗 & yes music is universal, I love hearing stories like this because it reminds me how music transcends through all barriers placed on us by man and society.
