It's 2024 and our 2006 Sedona with 137k miles had this failure. My husband, who is not a mechanic, followed this video and replaced only the sensor. AutoZone - Tech Smart part # I05001 $38. Successfully switched out and no engine light/stalling since. He had to be extremely careful with the hoses, screws and clamps as everything is old and brittle. Also, save your screws you remove from the old sensor as he broke a new one in the process of attaching it to the throttle body and was able to use that as a replacement. Thanks for this video, Kia was quoting $700!
Thank you so much for this video.I was getting the ESC off light and random power loss on a recent road trip. I have a 2006 Kia Sedona as well. When I called several different Kia dealers and Auto Zone, they all told me you can't buy the throttle position sensor alone but must buy the whole throttle body which includes the TPS for $375. Luckily someone mentioned the part number below...35107-3C100NFFF. I called Kia again and did not give my year and model just asked for the part and guess what...they had it. $35 later and about an hour of my time solved the problem. Don't get screwed over...make sure you ask for the part # specifically. Thanks again. FYI video states that "fuel" leaks from the hoses once you disconnect them but its actually just coolant that comes out not fuel. Make sure the engine is cool before starting and it wont leak too much. I also had some major tears in the boot that connects and allows air from the air filter box to the throttle body. Make sure you replace this as well if it's torn. $62 in AZ.
Hi David ....can you tell me if the 2006 Sedona TPS part number is the same number for all 2006 Sedona TPS or do I have take throttle body off to see if part number is the same number you have. ......and do you know if the part from KIA still reduced for these issues? Thanks
@@RG-qn2qm I am not sure on that I took a chance and just got the part since it was only $35 it all worked out. Kiadealers may be different now and may be willing to just sell that part. it's been several years since I fixed this
@@tinabright8957 Hi Tina ....my Sedona was stalling out when it rained .....After teaching the subject for 20yrs at a college and after checking several items it came down to changing the belt and tensioner....all is good ever since ....no stalling out any more.
I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata V6 with 108,000 miles and I was having the exact same problems. The engine is exactly the same as the Kia Sedona. I found the part on ebay for $26, shipping was free. Thanks for the video, it only took me a hour to replace it and that fixed the problem.
This video was very helpful. I replace my Throttle position Body Sensor month ago and look like my problem is solve now. My 2006 model Kia Sedona doesn’t stop any more. Thank you uploading this video. I was suffering this problem for more than six month went to several workshop, even Kia dealer shop mechanic could not find out this issue!!!!! I have replaced it by myself, thank you again.
You saved me at least $750! That is what the local Kia dealer quoted me for my description of this problem. I watched your video and called them up to ask for this part...they quoted me $325! I found it online for $2, but the shipping was $25.
I've got a 2007 Kia Sedona and it's a great van 437,000 miles original motor ... replace fuel pump about 235k ... regular maintenance...I appreciate you sharing...my kia hasn't been a piece of junk it's made me a great living doing my job....
Thank you for the vid. I have a 2003 Kia SSedona which randomly cuts off while driving as if the car is choking....not getting either air or gas. I am going to give this a try.
Thank you so much. This has been "the" recurring problem that I've had with two Sorentos (2011 & 2013). Constantly calling the Kia dealer who say they have no idea what the problem might be and tell me they've never heard of this issue before, even when there is a bulletin out for this very issue. They say they have to duplicate the problem before they can determine what they have to do. So typical of what you always hear from service centres who have a revolving door for techs that don't seem to last long at dealerships. Think I'll have the service manager and GM watch your video which fully describes the situation. Thanks again for all your help. Waiting to trade up to a Nissan.
Nice Vid, How ever any time the throttle body comes off always clean it with carb cleaner or brake cleaner.A sticky T B can cause many problems and its so easy to clean when it right in your hand. Also the part is a ( Throttle position sensor ) TPS..
I had trouble with that too. My A/C blower would sometimes shut off or not even come on at all and then all of a sudden come on. After several times of taking it back to the dealer it ended up being the blower motor brushes that had to be changed out. It was still under warranty at that point so the work was covered. My wife says its starting to do the same thing again. I might be changing out A/C brushes next. Its not under warranty so this time I will have to do the work myself. Good luck
Hi, I had or maybe still do have this problem. I have a 2007 Santa Fe 3.3 L and the same symptoms including the ESC light had shown up a few times but a restart seemed to solve that for a while. First Rock Auto has the TPS for my vehicle at about $25 including shipping. Second the things that I saw that everyone who did this procedure had in common was disconnecting the battery as per instructions, one comment said they just reconnected the battery. I bought the TPS and while I have a few days before it gets here I decided today to disconnect and reconnect the battery. Now I only did the ground side. My battery is not OEM and the cable is not a good fit, in fact the hot side has a shim in it. When I held the ground side clamp it was loose. So I got the extra shim(they come in a pair) and installed that on the ground side. Got back in the car and started the engine and had to reset the clock. The radio presets were just fine and the engine started like it has for the past 10 years. It could have been a loose battery cable. And thank you very much for posting the video. It has been a big help and it might be more of a help in the future.
Yw. a lot of people have had trouble finding this part for the same price i did when i did this video. i payed around $7. You may want to look into what the part cost now. If it isn't too much I'd buy one to keep on hand. Good luck
@KicksLikeA Hammer, I live in a country where the Sedona is not sold in the same version than that which I've imported from the US, that´s why I need to buy it online to be sent to my courier address in Miami. Do you know some online parts store where I could find it?
Great video guy. I had to come over from Europe for A parents funeral n had to transport the ashes from FL to Mass. Bought one of these used. Mine the abs light n brake light also come on? 2008. I bought just for this trip only, n got back n have the same prob you described. turning off n back on worked a couple times. but then just cranks n no start. I hope I am able to find the part at a reasonable price and unhooking the battery does reset the ESM. Stupid Question for you. WHAT IS THE ESC ON OFF BUTTON FOR ????
I have a Kia Sedona 2006. Last week I had the battery light and brake light on. It was intermittant, on-off-on-off. a few days of that and the engine light came on. Occassionally the ABS and the ESC off light comes on to. I changed out the alternator and the lights went off for a few days. now the engine light is back on and it seems that it doesn't have much pick up when I hit the gas. Any ideas? Also stalled a couple of times where I changed a blown fuse and it started right up again.
This is doable w/o total removal of throttle body, not easy but possible. You do need to pull one of the 3 TB bolts, it is the one that has what seems to be a useless cable/hose guide that is in the way of the torx bolt near bottom but visible. You must remove this bolt to access the torx bolt. I freaked a little when I noticed some significant differences between the old sensor and the new--I checked this video and noticed his have same differences, so proceeded with the install. I have to finish buttoning this project up, will report if it resolves my issues.
I have an Optima with the same part you showed, but the part that arrived was just a small little piece, and I went crazy trying to locate it. I removed the part you showed because it was in the right location, hoping the little thing might be inside. No dice. Put the piece back in, cut my hands to shreds and still have a vehicle that will go into limp mode. Any chance you know how I can get that part since it's not supposed to be on my car. Dealership wouldn't probably ive me the recall price for the part.
@ Kenneth Diette The only place I know of to get the part that I changed out is from a Kia dealership. I never had to look elsewhere. Hope you can find the part. Good luck!
Was wondering what codes you got when you started having problems? I've got P2106, P2110 and P0638 and they all indicate Throttle Actuator Control System. I've got a 2014 Kia Sedona EX. Also, was wondering where you purchased the throttle body sensor? I've found the Engine Throttle Body assembly w/ sensor on eBay for $150. However, if it's just the sensor that needs replaced, would love to know where to get it...sounds like it would save $140 or so. Thanks so much for posting this video!
billheatherk My ESC dash light and the engine light came on when this happened. It was 6 years ago sorry I don't recall what the codes were. I figured out that it's was the throttle body sensor causing the issues I was having from the online kia forums. At the time this happened I bought the sensor from the Kia dealership parts department in Tucson Arizona. Wish I could've been more help. Good luck
KicksLikeA Hammer, thanks for the quick reply. I'll be ordering the throttle body assembly and making the repair myself. The closest Kia dealer to me is over 100 miles away. Thanks again.
I’m having issues with either the throttle position sensor or throttle body. I have a 2010 Kia Sedona. When I start it up it goes to 8000 rpm then drops and dies. I’m getting codes P2106 and P1295. What the heck is causing this?
@Raul have you tried going through the kia dealership to get the sensor? That's where I purchased the sensor for my van. If you can go to or get in touch with a kia dealer I would be sure to mention that there is a bulletin out on that sensor. It shouldn't cost much. Good luck!
? For ya. My van having this same problem. Do ya know if the 2008 van has this sensor? I went to my local auto store, and they told it didn't have this part.
Saw your post on Kia-Forums... I have an 06 Sedona LX that I just bought for the wife that's having that surging issue. Did you have to take the van to Kia to have them reprogram the ECM for the new sensor?
The correct part number is 35107-3C100NFFF not 35107-3E100NFFF. I bought the 35107-3E100NFFF and it was the wrong one. I had to purchase the correct one from Kia (a little pricey 48.00) but it's the first number I posted with the "C"
question?. i have a 2005 kia amanti. we had to replace the alternator so we did and now that we start it the check engine light is now on and when we push the gas it does not go but when we push the brake it bogs out and idea what it can be ?
Im not sure what exactly it could be. My local auto parts store does free check engine light diagnostics that will tell you why the light is in. If you can't get the car to a to the auto parts store to get that done they usually will let you barrow the check engine light tester to do it yourself. Sorry i couldn't be more helpful. good luck.
I have a 2008 with the 3.8 Same issue if no throttle response and ESC light coming on. Happens on the highway and I have to shut off the engine and restart. Did the TPS sensor completely solve the issue?
was losing coolant 04 Sedona. put pressure test and see coolant dripping from behind throttle body. could this be a crack or gasket. too hard for me to see where its coming from.
hi i have a 04 kia sorento and somtimes the battery light and brake light will come and the car will quit charging then if u shut the car off it wont start but whent the lights go off it will start right up and charge i just got the car it looks like they put a new alternater on it maybe thats why they sold it couldnt figure it out please help
Just bought the 35107-c100 part for my 2006 Sedona planning on doing it Saturday. My dealer had it. I gave them my vin, and he knew exactly what I needed. I've read you need to have the computer reprogrammed because it's a new style part replacement. has anyone done this without the reprogram? I'd prefer to keep 115 bucks in my pocket if I can.
KicksLikeA Hammer Thanks. I haven't done it yet. I have the part, but the error seems to have cleared up. I'll do it immediately after the next time it happens. Thanks again..
I have a 2005 kia sedona,my car has a good idle except when I apply brake at stop light,I cleaned out the throttle body, and spayed water around hoses looking air leak but no luck, can you tell me what else I should check,I did not change the throttle sensor, also I have no engine light, thx
Gilbert Alvarez I am by no means a car mechanic but would say try some fuel injector cleaner. It could be a plugged fuel filter too. Those would be my best guesses. Good luck!
I have a 2008 Kia Sorento and my lights came on and lost acceleration when pulling out into on coming traffic and was almost rear ended. They want $700 to replace it when you can get the part at Auto Zone. I would like to know who and how to report this life hazard!! Kia has also failed to advise me the pax air bag is back as well the brake lights. Never got a recall on any of them!
Hello guys, I need to buy this sensor online, but I have found only the full throttle body (part# 351003C200). Do you guys know where can I find only the Sensor to be purchased? Thanks
Sorry for the late reply. I cant say I know for sure that they are the same but looked up throttle body sensor and throttle body position sensor did come up.
I'm having the same problem and I have a 2008 Sorento I want to make sure I'm getting the right part number what part number did you use? Because I feel like the sensor in my Sorento looks a little bit different than the one in this video. And let me know if it worked thanks man!
I hope this reply is in time. I did not need to go back to have the computer restarted. when you undo the battery terminals that should reset the computer. good luck
Thanks for the video... so helpful. I went to the dealership and bought the part. I am going to attempt to do it myself... They told me at the dealership that once I put the new part, I will need to bring it back to them and they will have to restart the computer, or something of that nature.... DO YOU THINK THAT IS NEEDED? - Thanks for your advice!
I have a 2009 Kia Sedona same problem. Kia customer service is a waste of time. Kia has discontinued selling the sensor alone and wants you to buy a complete throttle body assembly for $300.00 plus labor. I did some research and found that the same throttle position sensor is used on a few Hyundai vehicles. I called the local Hyundai dealer and they still stock just the sensor for $33.00. Part # 35107-3C100NFFF. I hope this helps
Just wondering if you mentioned that fuel was leaking out of those hoses ? Is it supposed to be coolant or am I mistaken? Good video this problem is very common on these models.
good morning, thanks for the video. am having a similar problem with my kia sportage. took it to a mechanic and he changed the part but the car still has the same problem with stalling on the road. he says the only thing to do is take it to the kia dealership for reprogramming the ecm😕 I don't have that type of cash😢 to take it to the dealer. my question is do you think he is right about it or maybe I should try another local mechanic in my area. thanks
I am not sure if the parts are the same. I did some reserch and I was told that Kia does not know of a Kia caren. What you could do is call the nearest dealer ship and speak to thair parts department. Give them the exact make & model of your car. Even if you did not buy the car from them they would be glad to help you. They would know best if the parts are the same. Thanks & good luck!
when I bought mine there was bulletin out about these going out. Thats why it was that cheap at the time. thats what the guy at the parts store told me.
+KicksLikeA Hammer . Where can I get this part or could you tell us where you got your part? I've checked Advance Auto and Auto Zone with no luck and kiapartsnow.com can't guarantee the part will fit my Kia Sedona 2007. I really don't want to pay $150.00 for the same part at KIA.
I actually think the dealership is the best and cheapest place to get one... they probably thought you wanted them to change it for you, but at our dealership it's less than $3
We have a 2007 Kia Sedona. The part 351073E100NFFF is not correct for ours. The 35107C100NFFF is. We were having major stalling at start up and bucking until over 45mph. Once the ESC light come on, the vehicle is fine at any speed. But, when shut off, the same process until the ESC light goes on. Last week I was going to change the part out when I found out this was not the correct one. I had disconnected the battery and after hooking it back up the computer was re-set and has been perfect. No check engine light at all. Just like when we bought it. So just an FYI for those whom can not afford the part. Thanks for the video!!, this is simple to do. I left the gas line intact and was able to in there. I have the part 351073E100NFF for sale if interested urnotamrb@yahoo.com
The 2007 Kia may have either. The best is to get to the part and verify. In my case the "E" was not correct. I still have the part and unopened. Stanley
We have a 2007 sedona. There is an early 2007 and a late 2007 so u have to give them a VIN at Kia if getting part there. We put ours on August 3rd and didn't need a computer to reset.I believe we have the early 2007 and this is the part number 35107 3C 100NFFF which is same part number for 2006. If this doesn't work you may need the part for 2008.

? For ya. My van having this same problem. Do ya know if the 2008 van has this sensor? I went to my local auto store, and they told it didn't have this part.
Is it covered under the power train warranty ?
Saw your post on Kia-Forums...
I have an 06 Sedona LX that I just bought for the wife that's having that surging issue. Did you have to take the van to Kia to have them reprogram the ECM for the new sensor?
i did not have to take it to kia. It must have reset the codes after having the battery cables disconnected while i was changing the part out.
How long has it been since you changed it out? Did this repair work for you?
I also read that it could be a crack in the intake hose...
+El Morel i haven't had any problems since I did this vid in nov 2012.
+KicksLikeA Hammer you sir are a life saver. I thank you for your quick responses also. I'm on Kia-forums under DRBagabundo
+El Morel you're very welcome. glad it helped. 👍
How is part only 7$ where u get the part from having same issues part is over 100$
Buenas noches mi Hyundai Santa fe 2007 me prende el ESC off. Que problema será gracias. Perdón sensor maf está total mente limpio.
Sorry i couldn't be more helpful. good luck.
Hi, can I get an update on if the ESC sensor repair worked on your Kia?
Lisette Huseby this did solve the problem I was having.
Where did you get the part?
Is this a throttle position sensor or throttle body sensor or is it the same thing ?
I say throttle body in the vid but it's throttle positioning sensor.
I have a 2008 with the 3.8 Same issue if no throttle response and ESC light coming on. Happens on the highway and I have to shut off the engine and restart. Did the TPS sensor completely solve the issue?
Yes. This completely fixed it.
@@FirstAce2023
Thanks for the video. I just replaced my Throttle Position sensor and all the issues went away !
Whats the part number I cant seem to find the part. Looks like have to buy the whole throttle piece. 😕
was losing coolant 04 Sedona. put pressure test and see coolant dripping from behind throttle body. could this be a crack or gasket. too hard for me to see where its coming from.
Jason Voorhees I don't recall any coolant coming from the part I changed out when I made this video.
ok, yes coolant runs thru them somehow, but I cant see back there. going to have to remove it. thx for reply
hi. where can i get that part fro?
hi i have a 04 kia sorento and somtimes the battery light and brake light will come and the car will quit charging then if u shut the car off it wont start but whent the lights go off it will start right up and charge i just got the car it looks like they put a new alternater on it maybe thats why they sold it couldnt figure it out please help
I hope this reply is in time. I did mine without any reprogram and it worked just fine. taking off the battery terminals should reset the faults.
KicksLikeA Hammer
Thanks.
Good luck!
Thx
I have a 2008 Kia Sorento and my lights came on and lost acceleration when pulling out into on coming traffic and was almost rear ended. They want $700 to replace it when you can get the part at Auto Zone. I would like to know who and how to report this life hazard!! Kia has also failed to advise me the pax air bag is back as well the brake lights. Never got a recall on any of them!
+Matthew Jones I have 2009 Sorrento & changed brake light switch yesterday & still don't work. So I guess I will try this now.
So my Kia just stopped moving out of no where even when I press the gas help!
anyone know the parts for 2009 Kia Sedona?
Hello guys,
I need to buy this sensor online, but I have found only the full throttle body (part# 351003C200).
Do you guys know where can I find only the Sensor to be purchased?
Thanks
I can;t find just the throttle body sensor anywhere...They sell the entire body...This is not the same as throttle position sensor correct?
Sorry for the late reply. I cant say I know for sure that they are the same but looked up throttle body sensor and throttle body position sensor did come up.
Yes its the same thing
Tbs and tps its the same part
This is the same sensor used on a Kia Sorento 2008, will be installing it when it arrives.
Thanks for the information.
Just wondering if you mentioned that fuel was leaking out of those hoses ? Is it supposed to be coolant or am I mistaken? Good video this problem is very common on these models.
if i remember correctly it was fuel. Then again im not the sharpest tool.
I have a 2016 Sedona with 14k milkes and the dealer said it needs the t.b. service can I just clean it my self ?
DZenitram23 I could do it to my car. But I would suggest taking it to the dealership.
good morning, thanks for the video. am having a similar problem with my kia sportage. took it to a mechanic and he changed the part but the car still has the same problem with stalling on the road. he says the only thing to do is take it to the kia dealership for reprogramming the ecm😕 I don't have that type of cash😢 to take it to the dealer. my question is do you think he is right about it or maybe I should try another local mechanic in my area. thanks
from what i understand taking the battery terminals off for a period of time should get rid of the faults. i did not have to have mine reprogrammed.
ok, thanks for the response
Thanks for this video.
You're very welcome @sang Hyeon Lee
The esc light on the car usually because of the bad brake light switch , throttle body sensor that I just hear from you .
Tank you it help those light was driving me nots
I has the same problem and I order the part and I replaced it but still the same nothing change
is it the same with kia caren.
How do you get this for only $7 but when I look into these they are $75.00?
when I bought mine there was bulletin out about these going out.
+CHERRYBOY5000 the only place i know of is the Kia dealership parts department.
where can i get one for $7???
i got same issue
i got mine at the kia dealership.
I actually think the dealership is the best and cheapest place to get one... they probably thought you wanted them to change it for you, but at our dealership it's less than $3
our 2008 Sedona is doing the same exact thing! kia says the part is $378
Where did you get it for $7
Curtis Ramsey At the time of this video i bought it from the Kia dealership in Tucson Arizona.
What's that part called
What year is your Kia sedona
Curtis Ramsey 2006
Curtis Ramsey throttle positioning sensor
did some one know where to buy this parts?
You summed it up in the last few words of your video. Peace of shit KIA's. Thanks for the video I'm going to start looking for a new TB sensor now >
Np. wait until your van won't start for no apparent reason. that was the most recent issue I had. I should make a video about that too....
what did you do for that?? bc i am there
Thank you
I'm about to attempt this tomorrow. I hate this pos van. next I have to figure out why the ac controls aren't working anymore.
I just changed mine out. But same problem. Didnt fix anything
Same here...did you ever fix it?
Me too, did you ever fix it?
Anyone see one of these on a 2008 Sorento 3.3 can't find anywhere.
Thanks .....
please post on this ! Thanks so much!
Thanks
Felicia Dependable Angel Services you're welcome.
If this doesn't work you may need the part for 2008.
where to buy this parts? i has the same car. the fucking kia don't sale this parts. need to buy whole throttle body sensor about $340.
i asking may auto parts store. they don't has this parts.
please toll me where i can buy one in new cork or on web? Thanks a lot
You think you find it in autozone
Edgar Soto at the time of this video it wasn't.
Do you find it in AutoZone?
I just came from the KIA dealer... $250 for this sensor.
No one buy it from the dealer my friend get the part number and shop it from Rockauto
I looked everywhere for just the throttle body sensor & NO one has it. Kia wants 567.00 for the throttle body assembly but I hate to pay that much & it not work.this is a piece of shytt .i already changed my brake sensor & that didn't work
rhonda hamby
Amazon.com for the part.
I have a 2009 Kia Sorrento
Any body know where I can get it?
It didn't fix my problem though.
... they said that they will charge me $109 for doing their part
kia is shit really
Have couple sedonas on my lot - always troubles with them
Dude, get to the point. It's unlikely there novices here.
😆
My husband appreciated all of your comments and tips lol, thank you for explaining everything
