    I've watched several Bosch DIY install videos and yours has the smartest tips

      Thank you appreciate the feedback! It stems from a long line of failures hahaha! Thanks again!

    Very nicely done Pat! I'm awaiting the arrival of our new Bosch 800 from Costco. I bought the optional Bosch junction box on Amazon to take advantage of our stand-alone dishwasher circuit breaker, as you did with the outlet you installed. Many good tips in your video! Thank you!

    Nice video.... and I liked the sound clip at the end! Unfortunately my old one died completely so I will have to do that part from memory!!

    I’ve noticed the dishwasher tablet is still in the holder after the cycle (partially used). I will have to pay attention to where the holder is for our next, one for sure!

    In Europe, Bosch dishwashers always come with a plug for the socket.

    I just had a Bosch 800 installed and the seal on the left side is exposed when the door is shut. I can actually put my finger under it as I run it down the cabinet. Was this shotty work?

      I try to do most things myself as I am often let down by hiring others and seeing their workmanship. Is your cabinet perfectly square?

    I see you had an outlet under your sink, is there a reason you opted to install a new outlet rather than just feed the power cord to the outlet under the sink?

    • @HeyPat.
      @HeyPat.  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great question. I never really gave it any thought. My previous dishwasher used that wire and it’s on a breaker by itself since it draws more current for the heating elements.

      Good eye...yeah, that would have been ideal to use that outlet. Per "code" standards, and even Bosch installation instructions, the outlet should be in an adjacent cabinet, such as under the sink. I am more curious as to why the previous water line used for the old dishwasher could not be used for the new dishwasher.

      The outlet I installed has its own dedicated breaker. Also, the old hose was copper line. For me it is easier to use the hoses. Either or would probably work in either situation. Haven’t had any issues with it to date. Thanks for your comment!

      @@HeyPat. Thanks for your reply, yeah, I watched again and saw you had the copper line, the flex line is ideal. True, they say dedicated circuit for dishwasher, but then I am researching online, and some people say it's ok to share an outlet with garbage disposal (if the garbage disposal is a plug in type-which apparently newer ones are). I have a Bosch showing up this Friday, they are selling them like crazy. Trying to figure out best way to do outlet, cause my old one was hardwire. Think I'm going to stick it under sink. Thanks for video, the best tip I got was not to cut all the way into walls, that could have been a shocking surprise for a newbie like me.

      Today’s Bosch’s do not have heating elements, so hopefully I can just plug ours in under the sink. We just bought the Bosch 500. Thanks for the video!

    Did you set the electrical outlet low on the wall for a reason?

    • @HeyPat.
      @HeyPat.  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The lower part of the dishwasher is curved, didn’t want to put it too high and have the plug hit the back of the dish washer.

  • @earling22
    @earling22 ปีที่แล้ว

    No gfci? Or gfci breaker?

    • @HeyPat.
      @HeyPat.  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. Probably should have put one, although I have never had water splash on an outlet and trip it to date…..This house is weird most of the ones in the bathrooms don’t even have one. I might change the breakers at some point.

      @@HeyPat. I don't know where you are but around here anything within 6' of water supply has to be GFCI. Dishwashers are supposed to be on a dedicated appliance outlet also, preferably 12 gauge to box. I'm not an electrictian, just what I've been told by them that know... meanwhile I have a brand new Bosch dishwasher that doesn't spec any of that in the literature

    • @HeyPat.
      @HeyPat.  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear ya. The previous washer was on the same wire, just hardwired. It is on a dedicated breaker just for the dishwasher. The plugs under the sink for the disposal are not GFCI, and other plugs in my bathrooms aren’t either. That doesn’t mean the previous builders did it correct, but the back of the dishwasher is solid so it would likely leak out the front. There would have to be a solid 2 inches of standing water to get up to that plug. Haven’t had any issues to date. Appreciate the info.

      Washing by hand wastes water and energy. Thank you for contributing to the destruction of the planet. 😂
      Bosch dishwashers only use 4 gallons of water for the entire cycle.
      Run your tap for just 1 minute and 36 seconds and that is 4 gallons of water down the drain. 😮
