Well, this is the second presentation of this watch I've seen on the TH-cams in roughly 48 hours, and…yeah, Maen is seriously killing it here. I already have a watch shortlisted for purchase relatively soon, but my secondary list? Yep, the Brooklyn 36 goes on it.
When I first heard about Maen I thought it was just another designer brand like MVMT or DW until I saw videos like this where I learn they are legit. I really like their Manhattan 37 model, but I do like this 36mm watch.
Maen is one of the only mircobrands (not sure if they are even a microbrand) that I would buy over a known brand like Seiko, Tissot, Bulova, Omega, etc.
I'm exactly the target audience for this (13 vintage watches but no modern watches, perhaps looking for my first modern watch), and you almost had me with this... But 46mm lug-to-lug is too big.
Can someone explain why one would prefer a Sellita over the Miyota other than the "Made in Switzerland" branding, just curious if there are actual mechanical differences and reasons to choose the Sellita over the Miyota.
I love how their were alot of compact sub 40mm case size dive watches and chronographs back in the 60s and 70's. Who said a sports watch can't be 36mm to 39mm.I also would love to see more chronograph dive watches. Alot of great ones in the 70's
Agreed. It's the dumbest thing to not include the crystal in the depth measurement. When companies try to do that, it leaves a bad taste and defeats the purpose ....CUT THE CRAP, MAEN and others....
Pre-ordered the watch (Brooklyn 36 - ATC.03) as soon it was released - such a beautifull piece. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Hopefully the size is ok for my average wrist, but seeing your review Jory it made me more positive! :)
I'd call the color of the dial root beer. It's quite considered a retro paint color for custom cars but you ever see it in the sunlight That's what it reminds me
Nice texture on the sub-dials however what's up with that day hand...???? between Wed and Thu. If a watch doesn't have a good lume, I wish they wouldn't even use it and not put the markers on there or not put the lume on all together as it can sometimes take away from the looks of the watch.
Need your help but I don't know how else to contact you. I can't find the replacement band for my faithful PAW-1100 Pathfinder. Could you help? Thank you kindly! :D
I do find it fascinating how the metric system has crept into American culture despite decades of obstinate resistance. Take the plunge America. It is base 10, logical and oh so practical. Just imagine having different units for weight and volume (not ounces and ounces) that are logically interconnected so 1 mL of water weighs 1 g which has a volume of 1 cubic cm.
I have an 8 1/2 wrist I like to have at least a 40 I have a couple 38. The smaller ones seem out of place on my wrist maybe because I’m used to larger watches
This can happen if you do not turn the crown enough when setting the day. At 00.00 this will automatically correct though. I guess Jory did not notice this :)
My grail it's a vintage (1990s...well not that vintage) datejust in Two tone with the Big Román numerals and this watch look so fucking perfect to be a new grail and save lots of money but I hace a problem with it and it's miyota
I just made a recent purchase so I'm off the market for a bit, but this definitely has my interest. I think 10 atm WR would have been better for marketing sake. I actually think this could pull off both the sports watch look and dressy look because it kinda has a chrono vibes too. Vintage yes; but sporty too.
Get rid of the faux patina, give pushers for the day and date complications, and knock 100 bucks off the price and I would seriously consider it. But as it is I'm not really interested. I'd rather save my money and put it towards a Tudor Prince or an Aqua Terra.
Have a question to you about beautiful watches on your website, no franchise in Europe…. ? Why not ? After all Us is huge market but so is European collectors everybody is had enough Chrono 24 !
This can happen if you do not turn the crown enough when setting the day. At 00.00 this will automatically correct though. I guess Jory did not notice this :) As for the lume pips; this is probably the angle. QC during production is much tighter however, so if they are misaligned, this would not pass.
Are the hour indices misaligned? 11 and 12 look way off. While the Miyota 9122 is a good Japanese movement, it's not Swiss. I'm betting they are using a Rolex clone Datejust case. Poor face index alignment, lack of a screw-down crown, only 5 bar water resistance, relatively thick for it's diameter, and Japan movement make it a $300 watch at best. I'll be surprised if Maen is around in five years. Just another startup trying to squeeze into an already tight market. Spend a little more and get a used Omega.....you'll be happier in the long run.
"Super unique?" Unique CANNOT be qualified. A thing is either unique, or not. Something can be novel, unusual, different, etc., but it is not unique...unless it is truly unique. It's a good word that is being rendered meaningless through misuse. And while I'm at it, PLEASE don't say "Begs the question" when you mean "Prompts the question." Drives me crazy.
Maen is a fantastic company. Every model they make looks amazing.

their manhattan 37 really stood out to me (blue no date) - but this looks excellent
We can't call it a Jubilee bracelet...proceeds to call it a Jubilee bracelet about 90 times! LOL
🤣🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫
Ah...you missed the chance to call it a Jubilee bracelet one more time. Tsk tsk tsk.
Some men just want to watch the world burn. 🤷🏻♂️
They need a logo or something because “MAEN” in big block letters on the dial kind of ruins an otherwise nice dial.
No screw down crown? Weak
@@jaydawg0006 I dunno, man. With that date pusher by the crown I wouldn't want to test its water resistance anyway.
Love the direction Maen is going in
When I first heard about Maen I thought it was just another designer brand like MVMT or DW until I saw videos like this where I learn they are legit. I really like their Manhattan 37 model, but I do like this 36mm watch.
That watch looks so beautiful. Looks amazingly vintage.

Finally someone calling out the bullshit of specifying the height of a watch without the crystal. Thank you. And amen.
Can someone explain why one would prefer a Sellita over the Miyota other than the "Made in Switzerland" branding, just curious if there are actual mechanical differences and reasons to choose the Sellita over the Miyota.
I dig it, especially the Triple Date is cool, but I really don't feel the color of the dial tbh
It’s awesome minus that clasp. Never cared for those. I love when a vintage design is actually in a vintage SIZE!
I love how their were alot of compact sub 40mm case size dive watches and chronographs back in the 60s and 70's. Who said a sports watch can't be 36mm to 39mm.I also would love to see more chronograph dive watches. Alot of great ones in the 70's

Same with ridiculously sized male end links.
reeee?
Buy a Seiko Alpinist! I have the green one the lume is great. It is my night watch! I got mine for $650.
Love the vintage style
Looks good. Check out Maen's Hudson 38mm GMT too. Very cool.
Add Longer and Wider Loom to the Hands, that will also make the Watch easier to read against the "Sometimes" dark dial... 👌
They are producing some lovely watches these days
Maen simply loses me with their logo. It reminds me of a department store. Can’t shake it.
I like this watch.
I've seen a previous review on this watch, and no, I'm not buying one. Pretty sure I can keep track of what month it is.
Pre-ordered the watch (Brooklyn 36 - ATC.03) as soon it was released - such a beautifull piece. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Hopefully the size is ok for my average wrist, but seeing your review Jory it made me more positive! :)
This lovely watch is screaming to be on a chocolate suede strap.
The man most likely to do TH-cams first watch review that features drone shots 😆😆😆
Hey hey fellow watch geeks.. I just bought that Boderry Checkmate and it's AWESOME!
I'd call the color of the dial root beer. It's quite considered a retro paint color for custom cars but you ever see it in the sunlight That's what it reminds me
It’s nice but do they have it in 40+ mm case size?
Nice texture on the sub-dials however what's up with that day hand...???? between Wed and Thu. If a watch doesn't have a good lume, I wish they wouldn't even use it and not put the markers on there or not put the lume on all together as it can sometimes take away from the looks of the watch.
Love the channel Jory!
Thank you, Jeremy!
I really like that watch , I’d even keep it on the jubilee-ish strap.
Zoom out to see it on your wrist a little better.
I do really like this, but I have 3 watches in the last 6 months and I've been cut off
Need your help but I don't know how else to contact you. I can't find the replacement band for my faithful PAW-1100 Pathfinder. Could you help? Thank you kindly! :D
Great watch . Great company making beautiful watches that are accessible to maeny.
Not with that aweful logo on the watch and I really don’t understand the love for Times Roman font from Chinese brands

Clean looking watch! Did you say how much?
Yep. i did enjoy it. Made me laugh
I have an 8 1/2 wrist I like to have at least a 40 I have a couple 38. The smaller ones seem out of place on my wrist maybe because I’m used to larger watches
I like it but I’m worried that 36 will look to small on my wrist
The singing at the end😂😂😂😂😂
Gives me Speedmaster 57 vibes - amazing
They have a totally not a seamaster chrono coming out soon as well.
That's a fine looking watch.
How well is the watch regulated spec of -10 to 30 is quite loose
I asked Maen about regulation and they told me +- 12 spd
5 bars of water resistance is not ok in my book. It's nice looking though.
hey maen watch this, ju won't bilee your eyes
You have like 6 watches on your site? Time to stock up?
We have been, and they keep getting sold lol. We’re putting a new supply up this Friday!
So, the day of the week is wedthur? I don’t understand companies sending out ptototypes that are not the best of their watches.
First thing I noticed. wedthur 😆
This can happen if you do not turn the crown enough when setting the day. At 00.00 this will automatically correct though. I guess Jory did not notice this :)
Boss video!
My grail it's a vintage (1990s...well not that vintage) datejust in Two tone with the Big Román numerals and this watch look so fucking perfect to be a new grail and save lots of money but I hace a problem with it and it's miyota
Why the inner 'tachy' track without a chronograph function.
Subdials indicating the day and month(!) are silly, I'd rather have the usual timing indications.
Damnit. There goes another $600 out of my pocket.
Not a chance just like their first model this one is a big meh.
No I won't because it's to small but it looks nice I am a big man and just to small 42 maybe
I just made a recent purchase so I'm off the market for a bit, but this definitely has my interest.

It's a nice watch. But that logo is real boring
So many watches I would love to have under 40mm, but my wrist won't let me. 😢
I kinda like it...
Yo, wtf, I can't afford this right now.
I like it but priced too high
Lume pips are misaligned and it’s showing the day as Wednesday and a half? Nice colour though.
Because it's 18:41pm...🙄

@@maenwatches thanks for the explanation. Appreciated 😀
Snore, this is not the era of ‘vintage’ watches I adore.
Me who misses the hands only episodes :)
Challenge accepted. Will edit after video.
Edit: don't want this watch. Dial is ugly. Looks like an OP. Not down. Lies in the title.
Too small if this was 39mm I'd be in
Jokes on you wise guy. I'm broke.
"It's so tight." That's what he said.
You have a good mug up close.
NOT FEELING IT SORRY
Same just not for me, and 36mm way to small for me.
The big Rrrrr will get mad at us
....pirates?
Lol Rolex
why do we need the month complication? 😂
is that a thing? not knowing what month it is
Erm… no, definitely won’t buy this watch. 😂
No i would never buy it
make it a 39 or 40 then sold...
I'm a dinky dude, and I approve. 😂
The logo is horrendous
Too small. Don’t like the color. Won’t be joining my collection
Thanks man 👊

It’s tooooo small 🤯
Damn you !
Jordy the watch looks too dainty on your wrist. I was on the fence until you showed yourself wearing it, proportions are all wrong.
Nice try, but nope. 😉
the only thing i dont like is the handset, looks too dressy and out of place
36mm for a Gents Watch? lol... looks like a Ladys watch... way too small 🤣
Misaligned pips 😂
I just thought it was me that noticed that, but wasn’t sure.
It’s a prototype, dudes:)
WAZZZZZZZZZZZUP!

Meh for me
Who you calling a lil dude bro!!
God damn ❤ the next best feeling to revenge
Chinese watch funny name. It's a Bo Dairy
I will definitely NOT buy this damn thing. But glad you like it. 🎉🕐🍸🍸
Yea 36 is the old days (vintage), but it just way too small for men.
The MAEN logo is terribly ugly and generic. Dealbreaker for me.
