    If it is like pouring from a tap in a pub, you needed to pour your regular beer differently. You'd need to put the spout right next to the glass at the begining of the pour. This is why a beginner barman is throwing out pints that's all head, you made the classic rookie mistakes. Different beers and different taps require very different pouring techniques.

    Bought one last week and have gone through 6 cans over 3/4 days. On every occasion I’ve found the Guinness a bit thin/watery vs a proper pint in a pub. Certainly serves a purpose at home (and the pint looks better vs the normal can) but not fully sold on it to be honest.

    • @Taleofale
      @Taleofale  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting, I'd love to see a side by side, ideally blind taste test between both this and a proper pub pint. The only way to truly tell.

    Not to criticise, but you should turn it on just before the pour as it has a 30 second timer and yours turned off before the first pour . Good pouring technique though and a great video . The reason you had more left in the can was because of the incorrect first pour . You should be able to empty the full can on the second pour and get the perfect dome. Great video though 🍺

    Mine doesn't do this foaming surge anymore, it worked fine for the first day. it just makes a noise and has no effect on the pour whatsoever, any ideas?

    Good video. You just put the glass straight a bit to early need to keep it at a 45゚ angle for longer 👍which gave you a little bit of a big head . If you hadn't done that there would have be just about the exact amount in the can to fill it with the perfect dome on top 👌

    I'd say when it comes to "being close to a pub", I know the quality varies wildly when it comes to the pubs in Sligo. I'd say it's better than a few of the pubs, but not as nice of the nicest pubs in town.
    Overall a worthwhile purchase, though. Far better than the usual Guinness widget cans.

    Can this be used on Guinness draft cans? And any idea if and when this will be available to buy in the UK?

    • @Taleofale
      @Taleofale  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It "can" be used on any can. The results from a regular draught can I suspect would be too much head. As for being for sale in the UK, I don't believe so, not initially. That said, I believe you guys get the surger cans? We never did. The surger can is probably the same so you would just have to get your hands on one of these gadgets.

    So is it as good as a good pint in the pub? Always found cans very watery, is it creamier? Have you tried the standard cans of Guinness with the nitro surge, these custom cans are €15 for 6...a bit pricey

    • @Taleofale
      @Taleofale  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's as good as you'll get at home. Haven't tried the nitro-surge no. The price might be expensive compared to regular Guinness, I don't buy it so not sure. The beer I buy is usually more expensive than even this. In fact. €2.50 a can is the minimum I pay.

    • @Taleofale

    Good vid but do you know that it works perfectly with regular draft cans also which are cheaper & you get much more value, all you need to do is pierce the top of the can with a small panel pin or likewise to release pressure without disturbing the widget so when you open the can it will be flat, attach the device & pour, it’s perfect & just as nice

      Oh and I am not a fan of Nitrogen in beers. It negatively affects the flavour and I would rather a more flavoursome beer than a creamy head. When I brew a stout, it's purely CO2 but I still have a lovely head, just not the creamy look you get from nitrogen.

    Can we get this and the special beer can in the states?

    • @Taleofale
      @Taleofale  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, it looks like it's almost a year since it was released. Back then, it was Ireland only so I couldn't say for certain, however the device could easily be ordered online and shipped if not. As for the cans, I've heard from a comment below that if you carefully pierce a normal can of draught Guinness with the widget inside, it won't release the nitrogen in the widget and you can then open it and attach the Nitrosurge device.

    • @Taleofale

      Nah, no need for the same reason that a single pour of Guinness tastes exactly the same as a 2 part pour. It's all theatre born of tradition from when Guinness was served from 2 casks, one old and one fresh. It effectively was a 2 part pour because it was blended. The modern 2 part pour was invented with the nitro keg to show drinkers at the time that it was the same beer. That and it helped control the head.

    Another waste of money gimmick by Diageo. I remember the launch of the Draught Bottles in the mid 2000’s, we handed out 100’s of free bottles in a nightclub in Belfast, at the end of the night we counted 100’s of free bottles with one or two sips out of them. This will die a death in a few years.

    • @KristianH1986
      @KristianH1986 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @BlueBoy 1 if it’s close taste wise to a pub pint, with places in belfast now charging close to a fiver a pint then I don’t begrudge paying 2 quid for a pint in the comfort of my living room.

    • @KristianH1986
      @KristianH1986 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @BlueBoy 1 aye hopefully they come down in price a little. I think £1.50 is a fair price considering they are larger than regular cans. At £2.20 or thereabouts at what they are at now it isn’t too far off, hopefully the more people that buy the device the more pressure there will be on Diageo to lower the price

    Great demonstration of a questionable product…imagine punters going at that fiddly gubbins after “a few”! Assuming the beer tastes like the bland cans, this is all about the look of the product…baffles me too why Guinness persists with those awful glasses that most regular Guinness drinkers reject. It would serve them better reintroducing bottle conditioned Guinness, now that’s something I’d go for.
