5:30 - THIS is why i - years ago - decided i would only wear black socks, black pants and black shoes to work. That way, I can pull ANY dress shirt out of my closet and put on just about ANY sport coat and be fine! (caveat: I have a single sport coat i can wear with my jeans) Why? - I don't HAVE TO THINK about it, and I'm always dressd neatly.
This video especially made me so glad to be subscribed to you! At first I considered becoming a minimalist because I wanted to be a bit more frugal with practical things but also be able to reasonably, sporadically splurge on the things that I loved and made me truly happy. But as I started consuming more minimalist content online, the mindset others sometimes have towards it-- treating it almost like a religion-- started to have an effect on me and then I would start to doubt myself as to whether I was being true to what I claimed to be: a minimalist. I came to learn gradually that, like you said, minimalism is a tool. I had let it get to my head to the point where it was preventing me from making decisions instead of making my life easier. Now, I see it as more of a balance and have allowed it to become more of a mental thing-- as long as I know and am constantly aware that it is not material objects that make me happy, I'll be alright. 🥰
Hello, CKSPACE! Thank you for this video. All I can say is that I am a different kind of minimalist myself and totally not what they call the "minimalist". This video is another helpful content that made me understand myself. 😅 For me, minimalism= I am happy and I am able to value more of what I currently have. 🥰
It is so true, although I have to say that I became a vegan first (six years ago) and then I became a minimalist (five years ago) and now I am in the process of zero waste for two years now. 😋 Thanks for the video. Te cuidas chico. Adiós 🤗
Agree- every aspect of life may not be “ minimalist”. We have many crazy high end kitchen ware because we like cooking. Thank you for your well-edited, fine cinematography video. We see the effort you put into your videos and deeply appreciate it. Thank you too for your positive energy. Greetings from Chicago
When I first heard about minimalism, there are definitions and even rules about it. It is necessary for newbies to have an idea about minimalism. But when I go through the process, and be clear of my own intention, I have gradually get to my own minimalist lifestyle. I hope everyone can find the lifestyle that suits them the best. Lifestyle should be personalised.
I love your approach to minimalism - you present it rationally, as something useful, exactly as you said - a tool, something accessible and flexible. This mindset is very helpful and healthy for both "old" and "new" minimalists :)
agreed with being specific on which area you wish to minimalize... to really dig deeper into the meaning & your reason that really unique to you, then concentrate on it (and also edit whenever possible)
Your video editing is awesome! I see this matte black minimalism style and also aesthetic colors and so many people try it to customize everything with this colors.
Totally agree. Minimalism is a tool to help make decisions, make space in my life, and appreciate what I have. And it's so true that there are boring, style-free minimalists, and super stylish ones LOL!
I've been asked a few times at work about mimimalist clothing. "Oh, is that a new shirt? I thought you were a minimalist?!" Yeah...that's not how it works! 🤔
@@ImNickHuggins Yeah, I just bought several clothing items. And I'm really looking forward to them because I took my time to pick out things that were a style I really liked, looked good on me, and had nice, sustainable fabric. Minimalism win!
@@ImNickHuggins Yes of course. But Cheng got something unique and has his own perspective on Minimalism. That's why I think Ckspace could grow bigger like Matt D'Avella.
I agree everything does not haft to be minimalist in every aspect as a rule to what you are aloud to do as a minimalist. Such as minimalists can't have screen time but they must like plants. I don't like a set of rules to live by only cause you are a minimalist, we all find joy and interest in different things in life and that is alright.
Some videos are worth more than just a LIKE. This was a great video, very straight to the point, visually appealing and calm. LOVE YOUR CONTENT!!!! I too have started my journey of being a minimalist. It all started when I realized that having too many things was actually stressing me out. I want to learn how to be a minimalist, THE RIGHT WAY. And it's videos like this that are extremely helpful. I'm grateful to TH-cam for recommending your channel to me!!!
nice and engaging style for this video 👍 it feels kind of faster than your others. I like your slower(-feeling) ones, but as this one is only about 10 minutes and a plain list, it is okay and fits the topic well 🙂 as for the examples, especially the king midas analogy is really well chosen!
Small print/ font/ graphics. Yikes. If TH-cam hosts spent more time behind the camera, narrating briefly with visual examples, these videos would make stronger impact.
Irony: apparently minimalism is about "less attachment to and having fewer things" or something like that. In reality, its a quasi-religious delusional obsession with consumerism and mega-attachment to very particular and unremarkable consumer goods...building your whole life around some particular products of a particular color or design. All nonsense. If we take away the products, the ideology falls apart and it's no longer fit for youtube content. True minimalism (which is probably not the best word even) is a mindset that isn't dependent achieving some consumer mass produced product perfection. In short: a massive waste of time, and not any better (probably worse) than standard chaotic consumer habits. Skip.
I have made my bedroom minimalist and I'm 12 I have no money but with what I had I created a minimalist aesthetic! money is not needed with minimalism!
Thanks. Normally I don't mention the things that bug me, especially since you have an accent and your accent may be how you normally say things as you do in your own area of the world, but there is one thing that I really think you need to work on. You don't pronounce Rs(arz). So there are consistent uses of words with R in their spelling but your pronunciation leaves the R sound absent. When I first heard you say the word purchase I didn't know what you were saying since you pronounce it as pew-cheese. Pewcheese, what is that I asked myself? When I finally figured it out I just sighed and went on with listening. But after hearing this multiple times it started to really bug me. Can you just humor me and try saying perr-chus while including the R sound. Pew-cheese is just weird. Thanks.

Everyone has their own definition of minimalism and it looks different from person to person
Agree!
The Minimalists and Joshua Becker say that all the time.

Be intentional in every aspect of life .. that’s the answer for me
I have little collections and wacky out there patterned clothing and I still feel like I live a minimalist life. I enjoy what I have.
