This is one of my favorite Barbra duets for Barbra for a long time. She sings so simply and pure, as though she is singing to a group of children. She doesn’t over sing Kermit. It is spectacularly done. Simple. Sweet. Kind. Well done. I was two when this was recorded. Could they have been singing to me? I like to think so.
Her upper register was so pure and clear at the time she recorded this. When I first heard that she was singing a duet with Kermit the Frog on her Release 2 album, I dreaded the thought, but this is magical.
I was very apprehensive about this selection as well and after hearing it then it became my favorite on the CD. I nearly have an out of body experience everytime I hear it.
70's Streisand vocally is unsurpassed by all others. Pure and sublime. This is a voice gifted from heaven. Sit back and bathe in its wondour! Listen out for the 19 second note at the very end on the word 'me' by the way! Zero note looping, full orchestra and one big breath. Just wowwww.
You can add KAREN CARPENTER , who also recorded this song and her take of that song is also a masterpiece, her vocal is a fairytale from a magical land that come alive and you can't ignored her lower register which is a pure note. Love both of the, KC & Barb. ❤💞

I can't think of a song that is reminiscent of this in any way. I was taunted by my peers when I took it to school - 'oh a kids record'. Well, thousands including you knew it was a brilliant song from the day we heard it as youngsters.
No one can turn a three-minute song into a musical. No one, except Barbra, the actress who sings. She turns "Rainbow Connection" into a wistful dialogue between a 12-year-old girl and a frog so desirous of being much more. At the end of the song, you realize that both of them are jaunting off, hand in hand, to a brand-new world beyond the end of that rainbow. Barbra's (and Kermit's) performance is so immersive--and the orchestration so moving--you forget what the song was originally written for. It's that good.
