Old Ezra 7 was the biggest miss IMO. I have had both and while I love MGP juice the Ezra7 is just flat out better. Obviously this is just my opinion, but if you havent tried the Old Ezra 7 I would try and get ur hands on it.
The owner of the 2nd store seemed like a decent and honest guy who knows his thing about liquor/alcohol who's trying to make a living using his taste and knowledge. Wish him good luck, especially in AK. I wish I could support so far away.

I can say this...I bourbon hunt regularly in Maryland. As of late its been shit until this week. 2 days in a row now I found Blanton's on the shelf for $75 and $85! I did spring for both since I have never seen any Blanton's just sitting on the shelf much less for just above MSRP. I think the new distribution is getting things back in order for larger liquor stores that sell a lot of select product and now getting what they deserve! Also able to get Blade and Bow, Baby Saz, Buffalo Trace, and an Old Elk Wheated for $50! Been a good week!
All throughout Arkansas we have amazing liquor store owners and bartenders. The bartenders led me to my favorite liquor store. Colonial!! Whiskey to the ceiling!!
I live in a really rural area, my local liquor store of choice is oddly low priced ( no i'm not gonna tell you where it is) The owner has known me since i was going to Elementary school his name is Singh and you're 100% right it's all about making a relationship with the shop owners, he's gotten me quite a few very special allocations for msrp over the years and now i can ask him for anything and it eventually shows up. Loyalty pays off!
I'm a Distiller at Rock Town Distillery and personally dumped that bottle you bought. I'm glad to see you took it home. Excited to see what you think of it. We recently dumped an 80 month old single barrel cask strength, #520, that is amazing. All distilled in in Arkansas with Arkansas grown grain and aged in Little Rock.

People in Arkansas cross the river into Memphis to get anything harder to find. Alot of our stores do lotteries, points systems, or good ole boy systems.
Nice haul! The Shaker's along 65 highway that you passed is not bad but my gem to go to is always Oscar's Liquor Store in North Little Rock, AR. Trust me when I tell you that the store almost looks abandoned from the outside but the staff is great and hidden gems are often found here (in case you ever travel up that way again) for a fantastic price (ex. Weller Reserve 750ml for $19.99). Happy hunting!
As a Colorado resident I've been wondering about the Axe and Oak. It's distilled here, aged only 3 years, but Colorado is rough on aging because of the major weather swings during the year and dry air, so I see a lot of younger whiskeys produced locally. Maybe I'll grab a bottle and see!
Old Charter used to actually be 8 years old. They also had a Charter 10, and a special Charter 12, but Buffalo Trace Distillery, where its made, turned Buffalo Trace into their top of the line mass produced, Charter 8 (no longer 8 years old) the mid line, and Ancient Age is the bargin whiskey.
ECBPA123 is solid. AA Preferred is just brown neutral grain spirits, it's terrible. The Buzzard roost bottles are fire though. Brands like Buzzard roost, Penelope and Pinhook are doing amazing things with MGP juice.
this was fun. In that area there is a liquor store on the county line to Jonesboro. Only place I ever saw a boxed bourbon. Weird little gimmick that I should have picked up.
New subscriber. My fiancé is the real hunter, but i appreciate the craft. On a solo trip to Oklahoma, i stopped into a store looking for the "good stuff" for him. Well they had a store pick of Blue Note for 45. So glad i picked that up , because it is one of his favorites now. Just not found in Ohio. Old Charter is good only 80 proof but pretty good. It's actually a young Eagle Rare that they pull early and cut to lower the proof and sell more bottles. I buy one every time I see it on the shelf.
If you were hanging out with that guy in the red shirt from Damascus liquors, I would have asked if you guys were twins. It’s so hard to notice when you’re talking to them yourself, but that guy was pretty much your doppelgänger. Love it

I live in a small town in Australia and I can get Buffalo trace from 3 out of 4 of the liquor stores near me. But I think part of that is because the difference in laws between our countries, because Buffalo Trace is only 40% here and we drink a lot of beer, wine and rum

Hopefully you see this, but 1776 James E Pepper is in downtown Lexington Kentucky. I’ve been there, decent bourbon, Fairly new. Small place. There tours were okay, the tried telling a story about how eh Taylor either left to go there or vise versa.
Should’ve bought the axe and oak rye It’s about five minutes from my work and those guys do a really good job. Colorado Springs has a couple really good distilleries.
My wife and I just finished watching this when we got a weather channel notification that Wynne had bees destroyed by a tornado. Insane to hear of a town of 8K people and 20 minutes later find out it’s destroyed
I had 6 or 7 "hunters" come in my store today all looking for allocated liquor. Its funny how they allways walk out empty handed! I have an office full of allocated stuff, but will sell it to my regulars that support us even when dont have the good stuff! We do have a Buffalo Trace store pick that came in tuesday and will go to all 8 of our stores next monday!
I'm from Kentucky but the company I work for is based out of Little Rock. Last time I visited we actually all grabbed drinks at the Rock Town distillery. They had some very decent cocktails especially based on the size of the city. Funny to see them in this video at the first location! You'll have to tell us what you think of their cask strength bourbon. Haven't had it neat, but it had a kinda-better-than-craft taste in the whiskey sour they made me with it!

Yeah, you can get home wreckers of Old Charter 8 for about 22 bucks where I'm from.
Next time your in Arkansas stop in bentonville there's alot of corporate offices and most of the liquor stores get allocated bottles!

I had several James E Pepper barrel proof and the rye was some of the best I ever had. The bourbon was also good but the rye was excellent.

A lot of allocated stuff at Crossroads Spirits in Benton AR if you are going thru Little Rock. Also several stores in Hot Springs are gems.

Should of tried Colonial Wine and Sporots in little rock, ar. It has everything from bottom shelf to allocated. Great store from top to bottom.
Down in Florida you can get 2a bourbon. It's really smooth and they support great causes.
