- पाकिस्तानी अख़बार द एक्सप्रेस ट्रिब्यून (The Express Tribune, Pakistan) की एक रिपोर्ट की मानें तो मित्र देशों ने पाकिस्तान (Pakistan) को और फंड देने से मना कर दिया है. अगर ऐसा होता है तो फिर इस देश का भविष्य क्या होगा, कोई नहीं जानता है. ये सब तक हो रहा है जब देश की आर्थिक स्थिति (Pakistani Economy) किसी से छिपी नहीं है. पिछले वर्ष अक्टूबर में जिस सऊदी अरब ने पूर्व इमरान सरकार (Imran Khan Government, Pakistan) को 4.2 बिलियन डॉलर का पैकेज दिया था, अब वहीं मुंह मोड़ता हुआ नज़र आ रहा है. वर्तमान समय में प्रधानमंत्री शहबाज शरीफ (Pak PM Shahbaz Sharif) के आईएमएफ़ लोन प्रोग्राम (IMF Loan Program) को वापस लाने की सारी कोशिशें फेल हो चुकी हैं. अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुदाय की तरफ से पाकिस्तान के सामने एक शर्त रखी गई थी कि वो सभी तेल उत्पादों पर इमरान सरकार की तरफ से जो सब्सिडी तय की गई थी, उसे वापस ले ले, इस शर्त के बाद ही इमरान सरकार गिर गई. सिर्फ़ 33 दिनों के अंदर पेट्रोल की कीमतें 149 रुपए से सीधा 249 रुपए प्रति लीटर पहुंच गईं इसके अलावा गैस और बिजली के दाम भी आसमान छूने लगे हैं. आईएमएफ के लोन प्रोग्राम को रिवाइव नहीं किया जा पा रहा है. आर्थिक सर्वे में बताया जा चुका है कि सभी चुनौतियों के बाद भी पाकिस्तान ने छह फीसदी की जीडीपी दर हासिल करने में सफ़लता हासिल की है. कृषि, सेवाओं और बड़े स्तर पर मैन्युफैक्चरिंग सेक्टर से सकारात्मक खबरें हैं, लेकिन हालात में ज्य़ादा बदलाव नहीं है. चीन की तरफ से भी दो बिलियन डॉलर से ज्य़ादा का कर्ज़ दोबारा दिया गया है मगर अब वो भी अब ज्य़ादा मदद करने के मूड में नहीं है. चीन ने कर्ज़ देकर श्रीलंका के हंनटोटा बंदरगाह पर कब्ज़ा कर लिया था, वैसे ही अब गिलगित-बाल्टिस्तान पर भी हक़ जमा सकता है. ऐसी रिपोर्ट्स आई है, जिसमें दावा किया जा रहा है कि पाकिस्तान अपना कर्ज़ उतारने के लिए गिलगित-बाल्टिस्तान को चीन के पास गिरवी रख सकता है. पाकिस्तान के इकोनॉमिक सर्वे के मुताबिक, मार्च 2022 तक उस पर 88 अरब डॉलर का कर्ज़ है. इसमें से 14.5 अरब डॉलर का कर्ज़ अकेले चीन का है. और ये सभी हालात मिलकर पाकिस्तान को आर्थिक बदहाली की कगार पर ले आया है.

I am from Pakistan and I praise your economical analysis about Pakistan. Your analysis purely on merit base and academic without any prejudice. I appriciate your analysis is informative and based on knowledge. I agree with you Pakistan needs from long ago structural changes instead of cosmetic. The problem is Pakistani rulling classes still living in the cold war era between America and Soviet Union easy to understand Russia. Pakistan was the most beneficial of this cold war and when the communism was oblished in 1990 the economical problems of Pakistan started. The conception of geo strategic location is the main problem for Pakistan Peoples when the rulling classes of Pakistan are still living in this dreem. After collapsed of soviet communism the Pakistan lost this opportunity to benefit it but the rulling classes Pakistan is not accept it and they are still living in the cold war era. Every one can easily understand how the Pakistan rulling classes serious on the economy Pakistan signed Free Trade Agreement with China any one who knows little bit of economy understands this agreement is how much beneficial for Pakistan. The energy crisis of Pakistan is due to Pakistan is in the grip of strong importer mafia and all the economical policies are encouraged the imports and discourage industrial structure. Why do you think China poured billions into Pakistan to build a nuclear power plant and hydroelectric plants, Dozens of schools and hospitals, metro rail, etc.? Infrastructures is the only way to a nation's development and progress. Pakistan notwithstanding mismanaging their government still means they still have electricity, the kids still have schools to go to, they still have the hospitals to take care of their health, they still have the metro to serve hundreds of thousands of passengers a day, etc. You indians are just jealous that you can only hope to have these.

Your last part where you said how to improve, is quite interesting. I seriously doubt Pak will go that road as it will not be able to reduce its defense budget and force.
They will wait for Oil prices to cool down, once that happens they will again be able to manage their expenses and will keep going like this till next turmoil.
Power plants in Pakistan were designed to run on gas and not oil. It is true that at that time they signed long term contract for gas at very attractive rate but now due to Russian invasion on Ukraine gas prices have sky rocketed and suppliers to Pakistan are reneging on contract and selling it in open market at much high price.

Today Chinese security forces are guarding it, while India is sleaping.
IMF’s economic prescriptions may be sound, but it appears to be blind and deaf to their social implications. IMF is like a surgeon who exclaims that the surgery had been a great success, but the patient had died on the operating table.
This is the 22nd bailout.....IMF needs to be harsh.....

The complete overhaul is impossible in Pakistan because you need one authority to make decisions! In Pakistan there is a duplicity of authority (Pakistan Army and Civilian government) meaning who is truly going to make decisions that are good for the country? Do you really think Pakistani Punjabi Army would give up their standard of living that they have acquired over the last 50+ years. Absolutely not!
Similarly, there is a large section of Pakistani public that is truly illiterate and they do not live or obey the Pakistani Constitution. For them it is Allah that is supreme and hence the sharia law. They take advantage of whichever set of rules (Constitution or Sharia) help them in a given situation. So there is no hope for Pakistan as none of these two things are going to change to fix structural or any other type of economic problems! It is a shame for India that any negative situation in Pakistan would impact India! South Asia will not improve unless Pakistan improves and started behaving like a normal country!

Pakistan is essentially a war economy living on Maal E Ghaneemat. Historically it was at crossroads of invasions into India and instead of being cut enroute by the marauders they learnt how to traffic one party to the others.
They have a resource curse of himalyan rivers and fertile lands in Punjab and Sindh and will never cede territory at any cost. They will change faith, allegiance and any other thing to hold on to their territory. This they are tied to the core geographical position which should be taken note of by strategic and military planners.
Due to reasons stated above there is no culture to repay loans.
Even of CPEC was made they would have middle fingered Chinese repayment demands.
The central Asia booty is really not relevant. There is boycott of almost 10 millions barrels of Oil supply yet the markets reached $120 and has come back. We are living in a post resource world and central Asian oil is not that important.
Central Asian food growing should have been more important.
Don't waste time with Pakistani analysis till they change and understand the loans are to be repaid.
