Why didn't Hannah say all this when she was on camera if she felt that way...especially because she is so DIRECT. All the reasons she gave him were just that he was not mature enough, that he didn't read that one night in stead if watching the game and that she turned him into a boy into a man.

She even says on the show she didn't believe his words. All the hints are in the show. When her friends found the notebook and messages and she discovered he thought she was ugly essentially, that was after the breakup so AFTER her part in the show. And the reading issue had nothing to do with actually reading. She said herself, that the reason she had an issue with the reading is that Nick doesn't come through on things he says he's going to do. Essentially, he's all talk and no action. I don't understand this weird interpretation that she's just angry he didn't read but a lot of people think that for some reason. It's not true that she was angry cause he didn't read, but if it was, it is a very crazy and strange thing to be angry at.
Hannah seems very sheltered…I grew up in Miami; the Cuban culture is very different than WASP life and it’s amazing, Multi generational households are very common…She not only didn’t understand it, she rejected it outright and was contemptuous of him. I think this masks her actual jealousy that he has the life she didn’t. Rather than welcome such a warm, loving family who would’ve embraced her and fed her the most delicious food on earth imho, she has a superiority complex, hiding immense insecurity and underlying resentment of her parents. Just my opinion.

So how is he the bad guy but she's not?!
She used that an excuse cause she states that she felt the entire time he was not into her. He said the nice words but there was no action or chemistry to prove that they were true. If you're about to get engaged to someone, you would absolutely know if your partner thinks your ugly, essentially. The grenade comment was just confirmation about her feelings in the moment. As for whether she did the same or not, she changed. People are allowed to grow day by day. She states at first that she was underwhlemed because he described himself as a less buff henry caville and essentially blew up his appearance to her. In reality, he is nothing close to henry caville and is actually scrawney and has a thin face. She had this image in her head from the arrogant comments he made about himself and was disappointed they weren't true. The other way around though, she did mention she was pretty and not skinny, but that is a more accurate representation than what he said. After she met him, she mentions that she calmed down and did feel attracted to him and started to love him, but the initial shock was not what he represented. For him, he was never attracted to her from the start to the end and didn't love her. Just said it to look good for the audience. That's the difference.

What ya'll have to remember is that Hannah is aggressive, for sure, and that's obvious and easy to spot. But Nick was also very very passive aggressive and only cared about how he appears to others. Passive aggression is easy to go unnoticed, but he constantly made jabs at her, constantly invalidated her, gaslighted her, and even lied. I caught it. Just look at his body language which was super dead pan the entire time aka he doesn't actually believe what he's saying and there was no chemistry or affection on his part. This got her mad seeing that he was pretending to be in love with her for the cameras.
