Canada Post is heading for a bankruptcy and 40 thousand employees will loose their jobs, only 10 to 15 thousand will end up working there. I honestly hate, if my package is being delivered by them because they were on my case always lazy and lying, already bringing "not able to deliver since nobody home" message when someone WAS home.... it seems to me they are entitled and unfortunately for them, reality will see most of them layed off...

What we need to do is fire management, make canada post operate as a true business, (no government subsidy) and put the union in charge of running it. Canada Post Corporation had a year to put a serious offer on the table. Instead they hope to let public inconvenience and media fed outrage be the story that gives them the best chance at union busting and binding arbitration that keep Canadian wages low.
The gov't just snapped out nearly 3 billion to another corporation and the public didn't know anything about it until it was all over. We can fund what our own gov't acknowledges as a public service never intended to be run for profit.
Canadian postal workers stood in the breach during Covid as essential workers when shopping at stores was difficult to impossible. They delivered, and at that time laid down their rights to collective bargaining to help their fellow Canadians weather the crisis, some laying down their lives for the effort. They've been without a renewed contract for years and nothing to combat the cost of living. These workers are Canadians, many of whom don't make enough to cover living expenses, some forced to purchase their own vehicles for delivery, having no company vehicle provided.
Canadian workers owe it to nobody to live paycheck to paycheck or worse. They deserve our support.

The reality is that someone in power needs to have the stones to deal with this, the fact that this conversation is not happening is a graphic demonstration of the unstoppable decline of this country. The CUPW needs to be decertified and the workers told to return to work in 48 hours, otherwise they will be fired for cause and given an ROE that specifies that, denying them access to EI benefits. It would also be appropriate to fire the entire senior management at CP who have allowed this situation to happen. They were told years ago that mail volumes were falling due to digitization and did nothing about it. This strike is damaging the all Canadians by damaging the economy, and is hitting vulnerable and rural Canadians significantly. It is one thing to strike when a company is making obscene profits, but quite another when it is a taxpayer backstopped crown corporation that is losing billions. The CPUW's actions, and the actions of its striking members is imposing a burden on their fellow citizens which is totally unacceptable, they should be ashamed.

Canada Post delivers to the whole country. They are usually the final mile deliverer for all of the competition. Much of the time if you send something rural you will pay 2 or three times more for the competition and then they go and drop it off at Canada Post for delivery. Over half of Canada is a money losing delivery. Thats why only Canada Post delivers there. Privatize and over half the country is screwed. Consider yourself edumacted now.

Totally agree they need to remember her serving the public. I am all for Fehr of ages. We all need that especially in the transport industry. We need way better wages, but we have no way of actually protesting because we’re not unionized. I’m a semi truck driver and we don’t get paid enough to deliver these goods And it’s been like that for years however, I also do agree that these other companies need to get some better rates specially with UPS and FedEx try to ship a Calendar through them yesterday. UPS wanted to charge me $58. FedEx wants $80 to ship it just within Canada Wanted to ship a package up in the northern territories in BC the other day which at Canada Post it would cost me $34 and UPS wanted over $200 for it which is just absolutely ridiculous. I’m not shipping anything like that for that kind of price
Especially considering me being a small photographer business there is no way I can ship a calendar for $58

How to time they deliver the mail to the wrong houses. Should they get a fair wage, yes? Are a lot of the mobide paid most definitely. You send a letter from the same town 2. The same town it shouldn't only take 3 days. Sometimes, it takes a week. For me, I would say my neighbors. Get my mail at least 30 times a year. Reading seems to be a problem with some of these people. Do I think we still need the postal service most effortley? But they need to do a lot of retraining all the way around. Seems like we have to pay more for very sometimes bad service. Sometimes, I wonder why we need the Post Office technology today. Gets rid of most of these people, if not 3/4 of them. One day, the Post Office will be delivering only packages. Everything else can be done online.
