Right now, I do not care about the EMPLOYEES holding MAIL and Parcels HOSTAGE that were already enroute. The EMPLOYEE's/UNION committed long term TRUST issues where millions will NOT use the Service now, hence no work to keep employed. Rural areas will have some sort of support.
Get rid of your top heavy bureaucracy and streamline your operations with intelligent solutions instead of doughheads making decisions for the entire Canadian population.
On the downside, this strike is costing people, especially small businesses that rely on CP, a lot of money. On the upside, this will probably be the last postal strike. I'm not sure if it's possible to put the final nail in your own coffin but that's what the postal workers are doing. Anyone who currently uses the post to do business and finds an alternative during the strike, has zero incentive to go back to using it once the strike is over. I think the old union tactic of calling a strike at a time most disruptive to the employer is going to backfire this time.

A mediator should have been brought a long time ago. But now the union is using the strike as leverage right before black Friday and the holiday season which also hurts a lot of innocent canadians and businesses that rely on CP and it's services. the parcel industry continues to grow with no end in sight. while canada post continues to tell the public about "losses", what they dont tell you is that a good chunk of these "losses" are investments into the infrastructure of the company. how does a company that is "losing" billions of dollars plan to invest 4 billion over the span of 5 years? the public needs to know that canada post has been on a smear campaign against its employees since contract negotiations started over a year ago.

This guy is a plug. Doesn’t care about employees. If they cared about employees, strike never would have happened.

Blame The filthy greedy rich CEOS not the worker. Management gives themselves all kinds of bonuses while supposedly losing billions? Cmon people are you that asleep?

Do you want all jobs to be like the $16-17 an hour jobs? If no, the union and the workers are not the ones you need to be angry at.
The reality is $25-30 an hour is not enough to even rent a one bedroom and save these days. The wealth needs to be distributed to the workers who do the actual work and not managers who sit around losing business and money.
Ask why there are still companies paying $16 and hour and overworking people without giving them a pension in 2024.

Instead of ordering us back to work maybe the government should order the corporation to sit down and negotiation a deal. Yeah they like to say on media they have been negotiating with us but we all know the corporation knows they can drag it out and not take it seriously until the government orders us back, which is bad faith and ignores our supreme court affirmed right to collective bargaining.
@Starwood362 i think both sides can share the blame. Both sides had year to negotiate and figure out a deal. Perhaps both sides needed to treat this with a sense of urgency for the past year. A mediator should have been brought a long time ago. But now the union is using the strike as leverage right before black Friday and the holiday season which also hurts a lot of innocent canadians and businesses that rely on CP and it's services. As I mentioned in another post, in the US, law was invoked to prevent USPS from going on strike because Americans rely on their postal system to operate. Perhaps the federal government needs to think about doing something similar here...but of course that won't happen because votes would be compromised
