Great video! Hey guys, don’t forget about the premium Long grain rice grown in Louisiana. We’re a fifth generation family farm planting no tillage varieties with reduced water use and minimum fertilizer. We rotate rice acreage with crawfish each year. 100 years of good stewardship. Eat Louisiana crawfish served on top of long grain rice.

3:01 about what Calvin called "forbidden sticky rice", I think he misheard the word. In Vietnamese, we call it "nếp cẩm". "Nếp" means sticky rice and "cẩm" is an old Vietnamese word that means purple referring to the color of the rice. Calvin might think the women said "nếp cấm" instead of "nếp cẩm". The word "cấm" in Vietnamese means forbidden. FYI, we have six tones in Vietnamese. In a lot of situations, two words may look the same like "cẩm" and "cấm". By changing those little marks on top, we can have different words with totally different meanings.

Black rice is also being called Forbidden rice, since it only use for the upper class of people in the ancient times

@@ObsessedwithGrowth940 it can be call nếp cẩm/nếp than, so here is my point, use to identify sticky rice when I choose to buy:
you can see in the video, it has two types of the purple colors, light and dark.
Both of them has the same ingredient to make the color, which is magenta plant or "lá cẩm" in Vietnamese,
but the dark sticky rice is slightly different, it use the normal sticky rice mix with black rice (or forbidden rice - Vietnamese - nếp than).
So basically, both of them are made from "lá cẩm", so both can be called xôi lá cẩm or xôi nếp cẩm.
But the dark color is mixing with black sticky rice, so people tend to use "xôi lá cẩm" to call out for the light color, and "xôi nếp than" for the dark color. Black rice is also called Forbidden rice, so the english name is Forbidden sticky rice

The paella you see in the background footage is the tourist version with plain cheap rice and seafood which is only common at the Catalonian coast. Most paella's have chicken and rabbit as main proteins.
Having said that I really love octopus and cuddle fish, the latter is caught locally here and is delicious fresh on the grill.

@@strommer21 Wrong. Risotto began in the 14th century B.C. when the Arabs brought rice to Sicily and Spain during their rule. Italy was the ideal place to grow short-grain rice due to the humid weather and abundant flat land. As a result, rice became a main part of Italian food culture.
