The NEW Embraer C390 Will DESTROY The Entire Aviation Industry! Here's Why

  • With a rise in global tensions, Embraer's C390 Millennium aircraft is set to change the entire aviation industry, because it looks like a lot of countries would want to get their hands on this aircraft. For a long time, the market for medium-sized military cargo planes has been led by Lockheed Martin's C130 Super Hercules, but with Embraer’s C390 Millenium aircraft on the rise, that might change.

      Neither are the engines on C-130. They make civilian versions of the engine. It's just a less used engine cause...turboprop. Small passenger planes don't need such a large and powerful turboprop and larger passenger planes will just go with a turbofan. Although there are weird derivatives of the engine turned into turboshaft for helicopters or industrial power generators.

It's easy to say that we have a cheap labor force when countries like yours forced it to be that way in order to produce more and spend less... You call it "capitalism". Our country has produced an incredible plane and you have to accept that. The pieces were produced by foreign companies, this is called decentralized production, as some pieces were produced abroad and brought here to be assembled in a single plan. However, the planning, design, structure, construction, allocation of each part, choice of equipment, construction of features for the plane were all produced by Brazil. So don't try to discredit a country just because it wasn't your shitty country that produced it.

    A lot of smaller militaries use the C130 as a small strategic transport, supporting overseas forces. In this space the C390 is clearly superior. Being faster and longer range, it could maintain a higher tempo with less need for relief crews and might allow a long airlift to be done without a staging area.

      The USA uses C-17s for long haul transport and C-130s for in theatre transport that can operate with more useful load on unimproved runways than a C-390. The USA doesn’t need a C-390 as we have our transportation needs covered.

Building engines needs a lot of capital investment and R & D (very expensive) so if Brasil can open up for more FDI investment and capital inflow (I'm not completely acquainted with Brasil's financial and economic setup), it can design and build it's own engines in a few years but research is still needed for making them more advanced. However, in our globalized and advanced modern-day economic systems, apart from the basics like food production, for advanced technologies and products, no matter who tells you what but it is impossible for any one country to create the entire supply chain within itself. Some nations will do certain things better than others and we have to build better relations (which is good) with others to procure the technologies and make the best, world-class products. Swiss chocolates have to source their best cocoa beans from tropical African nations as Swiss climate is extremely bad for producing cocoa.

    Thanks for the sales pitch. Now what does it cost per unit on the runway.?😅what does it cost over hour to operate? How expensive are its parts and where are the located. Your comparison is between a new air frame and one that's been service since 1956.n

      Netherlands recently announced a C390 purchase to replace their old C-130. One of the reasons appointed in the announce is the fact that C390 is cheaper to mantain compared to C130, due the fact C390 has only 2 engines. Moreover, its engine is the CFM56-5, the same used in Airbus A320, which means it's a very reliable, easy to mantain and known engine.

    Hmm. I think there is space for both. 2 engines vs 4 is not a selling point for military front line. However a flexable 2 engine backend efficient lifter should sell.

Indian airforce also wants around 80 airlifter, A400 and C390 competing for that order also but proble is that C390 lifting cap is low but maintenance cost also low and A400 can carry more load but its maintenance cost is high and you have to deal with multiple countries for its order, C2 is better than both of these but japan don't sell C2 that much in international market...

    So what are the maintenance cycles in comparison? I believe that jet engines need more downtime than props hence faster turnaround on the aircraft. Also overtime the c130 has been upgraded. And a person referring to a prop as a jet engine seems to say the pitch is midly flawed.

    • @dposcuro

      The C130 is a turbo-prop. IE: It is using a turbine engine, geared to drive a propeller. The engines it uses are the Allison T56 series. Yes, they have been upgraded, but they are still based on a design originating from the 50s. The IAE V2500 is a design originating from the 80s. And has, of course, been upgraded since. Also, as stated, the C-130 uses four engines, vs the C-390's two engines.

    superiority, isnt develop a stronger or better plane, superiority is make that, while keeping the cost or equal, or in this case lower than the competitors, for example: everyone knows that the F22 is the best fighter plane out there, but due to its huge costs, the F15 and F/A18 superhornet stand out as the workhorses of the USAF, making the F22 as useful as a rock.

    But what is the fuel consumption per engine per hour on both the 130 and 390. The range on anything can be greater with larger fuel tanks but doesn't mean fuel cost are cost effective. No offense just curious because I'm wondering the cost effectiveness of a civilian version of the 390 for cargo especially in countries like Canada that for most part deni Canadian civilian ownership of commercial cargo planes that started life as a military plan like the 130
