I assume he didnt want to "lean" into the female because he was on that vertical surface, sure they can climb pretty decent, but they also very well know they're not on flat ground. I think he mostly wanted to avoid losing traction and falling and also didnt want to step on the female with this front leg pairs, because he'd literally be falling into the female's fangs, which would definitely not be a good look for his life expectancy. I think on flat ground he'd have managed perfectly fine.
He had his front limb brush over her fangs and she didn’t react. If she wanted to eat him, she could have very easily done it. Homegirl liked what he was offering.
Sometimes even their 20th time! I feel like of all the times you're likely to lack confidence, with the threat of being stabbed in the face with fangs would be a biggie
I mean the obt I used to have well technology still do I could literally pick it up never tried it to be fare but I had to pick it up with tweezers before to get out a bit of molt
My OBT Male did exakt the same thing 😂 He made it after the 3rd attempt. 4 weeks later she made an cocoon. Between 50 and 60 tiny OBTs made it until now. But the best thing is that he is still alive 👌

OBT TCF and RCF have done just about the same for us... we breed and sell tarantulas and have bred 2 of the 4 OBT types and both of those types we noticed the females were almost on their backs only once we had a female that tried to eat the male. In our experience the OBT's have been quite chill as long as we gave them enough space in their enclosures....they were definitely not orange bitey things 🤷♂️👌👍

I noticed the other day that antscanada is using an endoscopy like camera to capture video in his ant tubes. That could be a great thing to use for stubborn Ts in their hides
There is a chance they could bite it and maybe get electrocuted though? I dunno how those tubes are wired but I imagine they have live cables inside them. You could wrap it in something stronger than fangs I guess, but then they could break them trying to attack it. A good idea in theory but I feel like logistically it would be dodgy. Amazing idea for any (edit: I obviously meant ANT, phone, gosh) colonies though!
@@mydogeatspuke it's a pretty low voltage kinda like phone line it's less than 5volts itd probably just tickle. I'd hope there made decent most people use them to find lost things in sink drains. It would be really cool to see in a communal think I may try it myself.

A rain drop is a barely noticed irritation for us but can drown a spider if they're small enough (or it is big enough a rain drop) so I dunno, I wouldn't personally risk it.

If you want to risk your beloved pets because you think it's a joke, that's your choice and I can't stop you. Perhaps you also make a habit of climbing pylons but never crossing the barbed line because you think it's funny to mess with electricity, I don't know. Not sure how electricity and the strength of a spider's fangs has anything to do with the heat of the sun either. Some people are very combative on here, it's very strange.

My female was also unusually calm(calm as in she doesnt go into threat posture everytime i refill the goddam water dish) tho she is very skittish. I regreted selling her 😣

I'm no expert, but it looks like "Bob" got the job done! Or I hope so at least. :) Really surprised about the female; she was extremely patient and so receptive. I think it threw him off, LOL! Great video as always. :)
I used to have a coworker that was a tarantula breeder and he had a couple males that did similar things like that and they did their job, maybe even better then the couple of males that got it done right away. They tended to live longer then the ones that got it done fast. He was able to get multiple breedings from them vs the ones that got it done right away. Those ones mostly got killed after the first or second time breeding.
I suspect the location of the mating made the male insecure. Since he couldn't really get under her in the same manner like he can on a level ground. So maybe that is the issue?
in my observation, the male was smart with his choice of moves, avoiding tricky position to avoid getting killed. or maybe he is confused either he wants to smash a female or smash a male.

There is nothing known about spider emotion, most say they dont have I would say we have nothing that prove it or denie it. I've read about a procedure to induce autotomy in tarantulas. Unfortunately the spider needs to be awake, and not under anesthesia, because it is a "conscious" reflex. So that means fixation. Good luck doing that with an OBT! I wouldn't recommend this in your case because the leg doesn't seem to affect her that much. If I had to, I'd put her under first, then fixate her, do the procedure, then release her. And keep a bit of superglue at the ready in case the autotomy doesn't work right. Quite risky, in any case!

Same here, my female is about a year and half to two years and she is extremely defensive. I can literally never have an easy time with her aha.
Change the enclosure (bigger enclosure with more hides) they usually treatposture because the feel threatened.
