    I tried it and it worked really well! It can get tricky with steaks of different thicknesses though. Still, much easier and quicker than the reverse sear. Thanks.

    I used this method the past 3 times on ribeyes and fillets. Works beautifully. I think I like it better than reverse sear and sous vide.

    Thanks for the demonstration Jess. I think I'll plan steaks for next weekend and give it a shot. This weekend is all about smoked brisket, HCC Black seasoning and Lone Star Beer!!

    I just use a stove top and pan and I was using the JKF without knowing I was even doing it. My kids, wife, inlaws, even people at my wife's work absolutely love the steaks I make with this method.

    WAAAY better than Reverse searing... because this will never overcook the steak, yet guarantee that amazing crust

    Australian southern bbq is a whole vibe
    🤤🥩. I always use the highest heat for chicken to keep it moist. Never considered the same for steak. I gotta try with my fave ribeye

    Pretty much the way I've been cooking steak, but I leave mine on for 2-3 minutes a side... I will give the shorter time a go. I've tried the flip it only one time, but it ruins the meat. I never can figure out how so many chefs can recommend the one and done method.

    Sorry, I HATE reverse sear. I’ve tried it multiple times and sure it’s uniformly done but the flavor just isn’t there

    Does this work just as well with a really thick steak? I normally reverse sear big rib eyes. Cool to hear a fellow Aussie, was expecting a Texas accent. Cheers

      It can work, but you'll trade off some of the even doneness in exchange for a crisper crust.
