I’ve been listening to this incredible work over and over, both this performance and also with Abbado/LSO. I have to conclude that it’s one of the finest overtures ever written, goes to the top of my list along with Edgar’s “In the South”

Thanks for this upload. I'm not the greatest fan of Mendelssohn but I love this work, can't understand why it's not performed more often.
