They'll never be another games company like Psygnosis! I wish Sony would get off it's ass and reboot Destruction Derby and Ecstatica, since they now own those IPs!
You seriously missed out on my favorite Psygnosis game: Drakan: Order of the Flame! It's basically like a Lara Croft clone, but with Magic and Medieval weaponry, plus you get to fly a dragon that controls similar to flying a jet plane with PC controls. IT'S REALLY FUN and one of my top favorite PC games of the 90s that no one has heard of! Sadly, the game is in copyright limbo hell and no one has ever remade it as well as it's PS2 exclusive sequel: Drakan: The Ancients' Gates. It's hard to tell who even owns the IP. Watch some gameplay on youtube of the game, it might interest you, but playing it is something else especially on the flying sections.
I always loved Shadow of the Beast. I still play it from time to time for the music alone but even if it's an unpopular opinion I like the gameplay. It's hard, yes. Like an early Dark Souls ;).
It's always been. divisive game. It's one of those if you spent time with it back in the day you'll have enjoyed a lot. I didn't have an Amiga back then, but my best mate did and he always refused to play SotB so it probably affected my opinion. I still respect it for what it did for Psygnosis and the Amiga which is why it's on the list!
100% agree Lemmings was the first game I stuck into my amiga 500 after my dad bought home the cartoon classics pack which included Captain Planet and Bart vs the space mutants
Yes! My aunt got the CC pack for Christmas and I remember playing Lemmings, Captain Planet and BvSM. People load crap on those games (bar Lemmings) but I have fond memories of them.
Another great topic!👍🙌 Most of the classics mentioned here I’m gonna add 2 more, why? I’ve no idea!🤦♂️ Menace for the Amiga!! Still played now & Scavenger 4 for the fm towns Marty! Quite possibly one of the best soundtracks evaaar, get big speakers, turn up volume…enjoy!
@@NewRetroAdventures 😆 you’re very kind for giving me that one sir! Be careful on novastorm as they changed a lot (including the soundtrack) compared to Scavenger 4 fm towns Marty which was the original. I was very disappointed when I viewed novastorm years ago!😢
Yes I remember this, the owl game... judging from the comments this could have easily been a top 20 list! So many classics that people fondly remember.
Yer, that logo is somehow burned into my brain……strange considering how they only had 5 good games 🤣 those games series were bangers tho. My earliest memory was probably Barbarian on the C64, it was a pile of pants but it looked bloody good for the C64. I think they also had a hand in Toy Story on the megadrive 👍
@@NewRetroAdventures 🤣 I did think that once I said it, I guess you could’ve made a top 20 with all the individuals Wipeouts, Destruction Derbys etc…..to be fair I don’t know about much of their works before the ps1 era…..so I shouldn’t be too judgmental.
I wish I still had them but during the 16bit era I worked at an independent games retailer and I had a collection of all the Psygnosis promotional artwork/box art. The Roger Dean work in particular is just chefkiss. My favourite being the cover art of Awesome, it's just awe..... inspiring.
That must have been so exciting! It was such a great period of experimentation in games and hardware. They used to put real effort into the artwork that you don’t see so much these days.
Overboard! is missing here, that is a masterpiece
Destruction Derby was one of the games I had on my childhood PC and it's still so fun to come back to!
They'll never be another games company like Psygnosis!
I wish Sony would get off it's ass and reboot Destruction Derby and Ecstatica, since they now own those IPs!
Assault Rigs and G-Police were my favorites!
Walker 1993 was published by Psygnosis but dev was DMA Design which later became Rockstar North. Both UK based.
Great video! I miss them they are definitely one of my favorite game studios of all time! Still love G-Police! 😎
G-Police! Man, haven't played that it so long!
bonus points for including interrupting cat
Her name is Bunny. She spent all day sleeping and decided right as I started shooting she was ready for breakfast 🤦♂️

Wow! I literally haven’t thought about Drakan in 20 years. It’s a good shout. Not sure I’ve ever played it, do you think it still holds up?
@@NewRetroAdventuresto me it sure has, if you’re a fan of old school adventure fantasy games

This video is SUPER slick, why aren't there a zillion views?
Because as important Psygnosis was they aren't know like Capcom or Bamco or Squeenix. Which is unfortunate.
mmm on Playstation 1 Wipeout 3 is my favorites for: velocity, no pop up, music, graphic and gameplay; all perfectly balanced and functional.
Cool and epic
Yeah they definitely became less innovative after 2000, but was a really cool company before then.
Another great topic!👍🙌

I'll give you Menace but Novastorm is a hard game to enjoy these days. The soundtrack though, as you say, is excellent!

@@pyjama9556 I didn't know that, I'll check out the FM Towns version to compare. Thanks
Retro Force was also a great game.
All five should be the GOAT Team Buddies
😆 that’s an amazing game! We used to play it in my first year at uni, until we discovered Power Stone on DC 😬
Great Video as always ! ;)
Thanks! I watched it back and I think I need to be more upbeat though 😆
They had the coolest logo.
Totally! It always reminded me of those demoscene logos of the era. I suspect one was inspired by the other, which came first? My brain hurts.
I can't believe you did mention Agony for Amiga....a great game but hard as hell.
Yes I remember this, the owl game... judging from the comments this could have easily been a top 20 list! So many classics that people fondly remember.

I bloody love the original Formula one on the ps1 tho…….”Joe Satriani summer song” 🤘😎🤘
Careful! You'll go to retro prison by saying they only had 5 good games 🤣 I'm getting it in the neck by not making this a top 20 list.
F1 on PS1 was always a good time with Psygnosis behind it. It's a shame they stopped making truly innovative games after 2000 though.
G POLICE and Collony wars and Wipeout 2097
Lemmings was originally developed by DMA Design which later became Rockstar. Psygnosis only published...
My fave are the discworld games but I know they aren't 'innovative'
The Discworld games are great! I’ve played them on PC and Saturn. I suspect Simon the Sorcerer took inspiration from Pratchett in retrospect
I wish I still had them but during the 16bit era I worked at an independent games retailer and I had a collection of all the Psygnosis promotional artwork/box art. The Roger Dean work in particular is just chefkiss. My favourite being the cover art of Awesome, it's just awe..... inspiring.

where is lomaxx
The five best Psygnosis games and only one Amiga game is the list?
It’s obvious you grew up on PlayStation.
