About Fallout: Based on one of the greatest video games of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them above.

The little girl who played Cooper’s daughter was an amazing actress for her short role. The look and delivery nearly made my cry I was so shocked how real she was. Of course Walton brought the scene home but she set the ground work for his reaction. What an amazing little girl!
I know it's acting, but it's still makes me unhappy seeing her like that. Made me want to give her a hug.
Aye, she did a great job.
Exactly, this scene delivery would have been a good job for an adult actress, for a child actress it was simply incredible.
The "Is it your thumb, or mine?" from her probably stuck with me more than anything else in the first episode. Like the quiet dread of that really lingered for me lol
She was outstanding 🤠
Casting deserves a raise, Each cast member did a great job
@chrillex91 they said casting, not cast.
@@chrillex91 i be forgetting how famous she is
He was talking about the people who picked casting and then said the cast did a good job @@chrillex91
@@chrillex91 No no he did, casting is the reason for these actors being in the show
@chrillex91 "Casting deserves a raise"
Notice the comma afterwards and how it continues to "each cast member did a great job."
In the first part, the term "casting" is in reference to the act of casting an individual. Therefore it is clear that the writer is talking about the person that casted each cast member.
In the second part, "each cast member did a great job." The writer says this to provide reasoning as to why the person that casted the actors should receive a raise.
For if the cast did a great job, that means the person casted did a great job as well. Which is why the writer said this because they believe the person who casted deserves recognition and praise as well as the cast.
Imagine all that acidic pickle juice in contact with his massive exposed wounds. His last moments must have been agony. 😅
I didn’t even think about the vinegar 😂 rip
So much for the best day of his life lol
I just said the same to my husband as we watched this 😂
That's exactly what I thought while watching it for the first time! Ow.
Oh gods I didn’t even think about that…you’re right that’s horrific 🤣
"Is it your thumb or mine?" Even being an old Fallout player and fan, that simple line from that young girl just chilled me to the bone. And then Cooper's horror as his brain catches up with what his daughter said and follows the direction of her gaze. Because his daughter is scared of something she doesn't understand. Cooper is *horrified* by something he very much *does* understand.
The bat making a fallout 4 baseball bat critical hit sound was a nice touch! Finally, gamers and Fallout fans got a great adaptation, if only we had this with Halo!
It's crazy how many little things they snuck in even when it really shouldn't have worked. Like Thaddeus pulling out the fusion core from his shirt and it makes the fusion core inventory sound. lol
Or the Stimpak noise.
To be fair. Halo got much better in season2. And Fallout is the richer World.
@@bluewhitespartan5258 no the budget got increased but that is it.
Also, not really related to Fallout and probably a coincidence, but the sliding doors in, I think Vault 4, had the System Shock 2 door sounds. I'm not entirely sure if it was in Vault 4 but definitely somewhere in the last 2 episodes.
Walter's (Cooper) reaction to the bomb is absolutely terrifying. The fear, pain, disbelief that he portrays in that one look was perfect.
For me it's that glance at his daughter's thumb when she's holding it up before catching her eyeline and looking off into the city to see the rising mushroom cloud. He knows they're fucked at that moment, it's the worst nightmare in the world come true, and to have his daughter be the one there witnessing it makes it all the more painful
2:20 music: happy and whimsical, scene: Goggins lamenting about the horror of imagining the bombs dropping while he's out in the open surface with his daughter
peak fallout lol
The bit that killed me was just him sitting there explaining the thing with bombs and using your thumb to measure a detonation. Like the actual horror of just having that conversation with your young daughter because it's a fact of life stuck with me all the way through the opening credits. Telling her not to bother running, even. Almost worse than when the bombs actually did drop.
The "Is it your thumb or mine?" was gut wrenching.
I saw exactly what Ella Purnell described in that first scene, first relief when her father started to save her, then the shock at seeing her father this violent, after all that naive sheltered vault life. Such great acting/directing/writing.
_"-for all of humanity"_
Walton's reaction was *on **_needle_** point!* Lightning in a bottle.
The piercing white noise/ear ringing froze my entire family as Cooper Howard's face went white. My sis's eyes were actually glossy. I went to comfort her, but then the second and third nukes hit, mine welled up as well.
_Beautiful_ acting, Mr. Goggins!
the little girl sold it amazing as well with her line and expression
@@zeroCoherence She'll be able to use that on her portfolio for sure!
Dooood yes!!! It was such an impactful scene. Walton is an insanely good actor, as is Ella and Aaron
Yes! Something about that scene made it breathtaking
Hearing “is it your thumb or mine?” Made a visceral feeling of the terror going through the end of the world nuclear fallout with a young child would be heartbreaking
I'm glad this series is a success can't wait for season 2
Idk how anyone ever doubted johnathan nolan
@@judge00Westworld S2-S4
right!! jonathan nolan and his brother are geniuses @@judge00
Do you know when season 2 will be out
@ladylove5640 probably near 2025 but they started working on it
The casting is spot on. Ella, Walton And Moises Deserve Emmy Nominations. This show is amazing and can't wait for Season 2.
My favourite character was Moten :) He did such a great job with the "innocent/sweet/nice and dumb guy living in a hellish environment" vibe.
@@interdimensionalsteve8172 He was a cool character. Hope to see Markus reunite with Lucy And The Ghoul In Season 2.
@@interdimensionalsteve8172And I feel like his development is gonna get even better becoming a knight and a more ruthless character.
Everyone including Walton Goggins of course was great, and a standout for me was Aaron Moten's range. Guy could go from scared and innocent to oddly sinister and devious within a few seconds. Reminds me of first seeing Antony Starr's performance as Homelander in The Boy's first season.
Yea, I'm not gonna lie. I didn't know if I should be endeared by him or scared by him. Really great actor!
I find there is a lot of comparisons between Fallout and The Boys. Same dark humour, same level of graphic violence which sometimes adds to the dark humour, and very similar, messed up characters who are constantly torn between doing the right or wrong thing. To all my non-gamer friends and family, I've been telling them that if they liked The Boys, then they will also likely get into Fallout.
I am *still* unsure of him and his character. There were a couple times I was like...okaaay this guy is a sociopath. Just from a face he made. It was great acting.
Y'know what, he was great. I think he get looked past a bit because Goggins and Purnell knocked it out the park, but I think he was absolutely an integral third spoke on the wheel of protagonists.
You can’t be serious. This guy ruins the show single-handedly if it wasn’t terrible already. At best he is the worst character on screen. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt and blaming the poor writing but I can’t be sure. He may be a horrible actor. Same expression through 8 episodes. The guy is barely conscious.
No one talks about the absolute stinging searing pain of having your freshly gashed open face submerged in pickle juice lol
Probably more worried about the lack of breathing.
@@Nephetssingsjust a bad experience overall
The Fallout tone is present.
All actors nailed it, at level of the tiny reactions and expressions... amazing. But the Ghoul, the Ghoul is a masterpiece!
You mean the terrible acting? Not being able to even pretend to load a gun? Nah.
@@JB-wy8fc keep crying
@@JB-wy8fc terrible acting? I don't want whatever the messed up drugs were that ruined your sense of reality. Look how much praise this show gets vs this one comment and you know you're dead wrong unless you're a delusional narcissist who thinks they know better than everyone else. In any case, get well soon.
@@JB-wy8fcI think you've been hitting the chems way too hard my guy.
This show birthed a new obsession for me. I had never played the games but had a decent bit of knowledge on Fallout because loads of my friends love it. I just finished the main story in New Vegas for the first time and WOW. I now understand why this franchise has so many fans. After I finish a second playthrough I'm starting Fallout 4 because I'm obsessed now.
The opening scene is one of the best scenes written for any tv show. It connects the past and the present in one fell swoop.
Have you seen any other show?
I posted on my FB "I don't care if the rest of this show is shyte, at minute 6 in ep 1 I'm hooked." It so embodies the tone of FO--that 50s/60s Pleasantville thing with weird tech advances while other things are still socially "backwards", with its faux-cheerfulness in the face of alleged "everything shortages" and a war happening off the mainland, and then everything going t*ts up in an instant. I've been playing the games since FO1 dropped and i think it was pretty damned good. Even the way the 3 main characters embodied the 3 different styles of players just.... so good.
There are other shows/movies out there that have done excellent openings but then didn't go on to fulfil the promise of the opening (the first Wolverine movie springs to mind) but this show's opening completely fit the subject's and the source's tone and then it followed up on it. Very glad; this is a show it would have been too easy to get wrong.
I cannot stress enough, how excellent Kyle Maclachlan and Walton Goggins were cast for this specific series.
I don’t mention Lucy because everyone knows Lucy is great, she’s the star of the show. Ella was cast well too. Very well.
I just want to give some praise to the people who thought of Kyle and Walton, because I cannot stress how much they fit into a world like Fallout. It’s more than just their specific characters they play in this show, it’s in their filmography as actors. These are character actors who are 100% tailor made for Fallout, looking at their past work. If you’ve seen them and a significant amount of what they’ve done, you know what I mean.
As a long-time fan of both, kudos to those involved, and to Kyle and Walton.
That bomb scene in episode 1 sends chills in my spine. I know Walton is already a great actor, but the kid also sold that scene for me, they internalized that so hard I can feel that it's not far from happening
"You think I'm going to go dig some corn but no..." love how he just lets that go when she misses it.
Norm deserves more recognition, he's so underrated in the show
Such a good show! Can’t wait for a second season.
I absolutely loved this show, the creators truly understood the material and created something for the fans. Walton, Ella and Aaron were incredible, I think that the Ghoul and Lucy are my favorites!
Also in that scene betwen Cooper and his daughter i found it touching when she asks him a little earlier about the thumb and he starts lying, to protect her, but she sees it trough, and we see him for amoment not knowing what to do, until he decides to just tell the truth.
Walton and Teagan (the daughter) both nailed that bomb dropping scene so well, I actually broke out into tears. Like, I was sobbing. I have never seen a child actor portray fear so accurately and doing it alongside Walton, who just as well embodied the realization of imminent death, was a legendary feat. Season 2 can't come fast enough.
The cast was absolute perfection in the show.
Hell the show itself is perfection!
Congratulations to everyone involved here!
Maximus was dogshit, that guy cant act at all.
Missed opportunity to not include the Maximus “oyster” scene
they can probably only talk about Episode 1 so not to spoil everything lol
Cool to hear one of the actors talk about the practical effect of the physical power armor props.
So great, all these interviews show the casts genuine love for the work they put out. We need interviews with art dept set design
"theres violence and then some funny stuff where he gets drowned in pickles.." yep thats fallout
That's OK. Just feed him pie and coffee.
The show was 10X better than I expected. Have watched through it twice, and will watch it again just to scope out the cool references. Great job. Ella was hands down the best part of the show. The ghoul was the next best. Those two made the show.
Walton nailed his role in this. Also wondering what the significance is that the show began and ended in the exact same spot (you can see the observatory as he's riding down the mountain).
Took me ages to catch that little observatory detail. You get a real good look as that fourth nuke drops.
So glad they used scenes only from Ep1, keeping the fun of the rest of the season for future viewers to enjoy without spoilers :)
Appreciate how all the cast members brought their characters to life. Good to see the actors behind the characters.
The prewar intro is everything I could have ever wanted as a Fallout fan since the beginning, The bombs dropping and getting to see how people handled it and what their lives were like leading up to was brilliantly done.
This show has brought my existence some substance. Literally everyone did a great job on this, from Amazon, Bethesda, actors, everything. The show is awesome.
I love the beginning of fallout show before the bombs the way it look and the furniture and city and the nice birthday party
The PICKLES NOOOO
"Is it your thumb, or mine?"
NGL, her delivery of that line *wrecked* me, the fear clinging to hope. I didn't get to see Cooper's reaction until my second watch thru, and I was *wrecked* all over again. Walton is just phenomenal.
1st season was great can't wait for season 2
you guys deserve all the praise, amazing show!
Kyle Maclachlin Rizzing up Ella Purnell lol
we need more of this stuff, the cast seem like good people
I just love the cast of this show, they really play the characters so well, Even though I had never heard of any of them.
Except for Michael Emerson. What a suprise it was to see him in this show!
I know this show is already gonna be one of my life’s comfort shows that I can go back and rewatch and I love that
They deserve all the praise. Great show, great cast.
i liked the spinning of the shovel as well
I love Kyle MacLachlan as an actor, ever since his Orson Hodge days. The whole cast did a phenomenal job. Loved the show, love the games, very excited for season 2.
I would litterally do...anything to just be in the background of this show. Fallout is my world and my comfort and to see these people care about something I've been so passionate for, for years and to have them sit and take the time to learn the characters and the environment made me really happy. If I can't be in the show I'm glad these guys can do such a wonderful job!
Thank you. BEST SHOW IVE WATCHED IN SOOOOO LONG
There are so many great scenes in the show that I'd really love to hear their commentary on.
Amazing cast, Amazon did good with this!
That's such a great point, having that reaction for all of humanity.
I really, really enjoyed the show. Makes me want more and I went right back to watch old game playthroughs... reliving some good times in my memory. 😁
Kyle Mclaughlin is adorable narrating what Lucy is doing to Not Lucy, like it's a home movie. He's a treasure. :)
The acting is fallout was brilliant, every person cast was amazing and did a fantastic job at bringing their character alive. I personally love looking forward to season two!
All actors are great in the series but Walton, you are something else.... You give the character so much dept with absolutely brilliant acting! This series would not be close to what it is now if you weren't in it the way you are... 1000% favorite!!! Keep up the great job, I pray there will be 2nd (and more) seasons.... You sir, deserve a massive award for you performance!
Taking nothing away from all the other actors which I think have been great.
Loved Ellas character Lucy..caring , strong and open..the background songs takes you to different world, specially in the wasteland..waiting for Season 2
Awesome show, thank you!!
I'd really love just like an hour or two of these actors talking about the show. Fallout is beloved by so many, and it's SO fun to watch so many people experiencing it for the first time like this, in such a different way.
And these people did a phenomenal job of depicting the characters inside of this particular setting. It really felt like Fallout. From the lethally pragmatic, to the naively heroic, to the downright insane - I really have no complaints about any particular performances, even from the side characters.
Everything about this show was amazing
The intro is the most powerful scene in cinematography to date...
Yeah absolutely not lmao... not even close. TV show was good but calm down.
@@AIONmogwai Good luck beating the end of the world...
love the show but thats a wild claim. baby driver beats it for sure.
You should, like, watch more things. Before saying stuff like this.
@@Pebphiz If it's made in the west... i have already seen it...
Kyle MacLachlan kills it with a dad character again, no surprise. Dude was awesome years back in Agents of Shield as the father of a main character
There aren’t words for how much I adore Kyle MacLachlan
Amazing cast!!
This show was so great. I was initially intrigued by the teaser trailers but also a little hesitant. I'm glad I was wrong. I loved the cast especially Walton Goggins, the man is an incredible actor and was perfect to play the role of the Ghoul. I know everyone here has probably seen Justified, but if you haven't you need to watch it. He and the main character make the show.
Great job guys
So happy Walton Goggins is getting the flowers he deserves
I’m truely shocked how good the show turned out. All the actors were amazing and I can’t wait to see them more as these characters.
I cried when the bombs dropped in ep 1, I don’t know why and I never cry at a show. But I was merely overcome with emotion. Well done sir and hats off to yous.
Seek therapy.
Walton is the goat, perfect casting.
As a fallout fan I’m so happy and proud to have this part of the fallout world and media!
ABSOLUTE best show from game EVER - completely nailed it.
Am I the only one rp'ing Cooper Howard and Lucy McLean in FO4?
Not for long
Coop's outfit is available in Fallout 76. There's plenty of people who are roleplaying as him in that game. Did someone already make a mod of his outfit in Fallout 4?
Absolutely awesome show. Don't fire a single writer on staff. The acting is superb. You knocked it out of the park!
I want cast reacting to every episode. Like right now. lol
I am glad to live in an era in which we actually get not only good, but masterpiece levels of video game adaptions, this is what we have been waiting for years, just outstanding work.
Amazing series
I hope Fallout gets the award for best adaptation this year
Am I the only one who sees very big resemblence in them. He does really look like her father

Dale Dickie reaches legendary status as a scene steeler 😊
have to agree with Walter, showing the bombs in the first episode, the dulled audio, his reaction, the little girl's reaction.. they did it *perfectly*, same feeling you get when you see the bombs drop in the intro scene to Fallout 4 or even seeing them drop in 76, feeling never goes but in the show, its amplified cause it feels more real - insanely good job, every single person deserves praise and I'm an avid Fallout fan, thousands of hours across all Fallouts
Walt is my favorite in the show. His performance is top notch.
I just love how they seemingly reminiscence about killing the groom togather.
nothing nicer than father and daughter watching old family videos ☺️, love the rest of the cast too, love the series 😃👍🏼
Creepy

As a Fallout fan who was initially VERY skeptical about this series, I’m happy to say they knocked it out of the park. Every detail. And the cast is incredible. Can’t wait for S2.
AWSOME SHOW!
So glad they had the guts to create something original in the Fallout universe. Great storytelling, great acting, and best of all they nailed the tone - not an easy task imo. Kudos!

honestly, it would've been exhilarating to wait a week to watch each episode. i still have 2 more to go.
Have to say all the stories was really interesting. I wonder what will happen to Nord, Lucy and Maximus, Ghoul and off: Thaddeus
Nobody messes with Boyd Crowder!
"And the cast of Fallout?" They have NAMES too you know.
“Is It Your Thumb or Mine?” Can totally see that as an in-game quest name
I seriously wonder, does Ella realize she's sharing the screen with Paul "Mua'dib" Atreides??
