Yes they are. I’ve been buying set booster boxes for $120 total after tax. A $20 + increase is crazy. They said it would be around the cost of a set booster box. That was another Wizards lie
Set booster boxes are 30 packs. Play booster boxes are 36 packs. $20 more for 6 packs isn't too bad.
I personally think the community as a whole should just sit a year out. If hasbro/wotc are going to run this train off the tracks the players should just take the initiative and give them what they desire. Are we going to let rich idiots collapse it or will the players just become the final boss already and dominate😂
$138 play booster on TCG after fees and shipping those sellers are losing $5-10 per box before the set is even released. Also i don’t think a set needs to be limited to be successful, Ixalan is good BC it has lots of high end chase cards and good box toppers, should be an easy model to follow but they still refuse to do it consistently
I have nothing but high hopes for play boosters. I've never drafted, always bought set packs but if I'm buying packs anyway it'll be cool to get some more enjoyment out of them. Price wise, I'm not sure where it'll fall. I suspect it'll fluctuate for a bit while they market adjusts to a new product.

Players should just get use to the price. Pretty sure distribution cost is close to $120. I don't see boxes ever getting less than $125 outside of a set being a straight dumpster 🔥
I got into magic with LoTR and wanted to play so i got Arena which funnels you to standard. I liked buying random stuff but find myself valueing new standard cards while i figure it all out without having dipped into modern or gotten to a commander point yet. I think there are probably alot of new players like myself not really playing in person but interested in standard or commander cards and these last 2 LCI and WOE have been great for those.

138 is super low and not worth selling. Every other ccg is fine with paying normal markups for cards except mtg for whatever reason. Anything below $160 is a waste of time for a store imo.
Just seems to be a negative feedback loop among content creators without expressing that it’s 6 more packs and thus a minimum of about $25 extra dollars because it’s more cards

Don't care much because most of it is not of interest to me. will be singles yet again, but expecting singles to become more expencive because we ain't MASS cracking anymore. Might even become scarce again 😳. Now would that be something. 🤘🦁🤘
