Wood Whistle

  • Making your own Wood Whistle is a simple, fun project. The whistle can be constructed using the dimensions given or by using the paper pattern at the construction article: woodgears.ca/reader/walters/wh...
I used oak, which is fairly porous. A denser, tighter-grained wood might be a better choice.
Make several. Your friends will want one.

I build custom cabinets for a living, been at it for nine years and I'm ALWAYS impressed by your content. I've built your garbage can dust extractor and stationary vacuum dustpan as well as several of your little fun projects, most recently the U-joint. Sadly, I never thought to repair my table saw with epoxy until you made the video. You've made my shop a better place to work Ron, Please keep it up!

In my childhood days, I was making a small trumpet with Coconot leaves . Today I along with my grandson viewed your awesome video and I thank you for having made me to know how whistle is made.

    Ron,
very do-able and fun project. I'll be sure to pass this on to my friends who have the tools to do it. Be blessed.

Very nice project. I think these will make great Christmas gifts and when my son gets older (he's just 1 month old today :-) ), I can see this as a fun project for he and I do together. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Ronald. Very well done! I’m with CW. For years I’ve said I want to give my grand kids 3 things - SillyPuddy, glitter, and a whistle. If I give them this whistle, they rightly can’t just toss it in the trash. :)

Made your whistle today, it's great. I'm always looking for things to do with scrap to make a little extra money with out putting out more money for materials.

You can use just about anything including plastic. A dense, less porous, wood would probably sound better.

When the kids were younger, I'd make things like this that make a lot of noise and let them take it back to the X's house. You know ... you can make a drum out of just about anything !!
