This really loud whistle is also known as a "pea whistle" because it has a little ball, or pea, inside that gives it that recognizable trilling sound. It's quite easy to make. If you don't have a bandsaw, this would be a great project to use an inexpensive coping saw.

Thanks, Steve, really appreciate your videos. I like how you're willing to just be you and let us see the process sometimes. It helps all of us feel like we should be willing to give our projects a shot and if it doesn't work out the way we originally thought, then that is Okay.

Steve I know your not one to go into great detail with your projects and explain everything along with trial and error but I am sure that everyone loves it. Including myself, 8 min + videos are GREAT!!! Keep up the video style you been experimenting with!!! Enjoy your week off!! You deserve it!!

Hey, Steve. I just wanted to say thanks for making me want to work wood again. I'd gotten bored with it and had moved on to the next hobby, but your videos have sucked me back in. Your humor and easy going manner make me want to start punching out projects for the kids again. You should be proud of your work and the good your doing. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Steve, I'm a long time follower, and I wanted to throw an idea your way. Have you ever tried oven-tinting wood? That is, placing the wood on a cookie sheet at 400 degrees for however long of time it takes to change it to the color you want the wood to be? (the longer it's in, the darker and deeper the tones that come out). I got the idea from a set of plans that I purchased, as well as the guitar company Ernie Ball/Musicman doing this process to their necks, which is a newer endeavor on their end (I love their guitars). If I can avoid it, I will never need to stain smaller projects again. For some reason, this project struck me as a perfect candidate for heat tinting, and I may try it.
I'm currently heat tinting some pieces of wood for a marble run that I am building, which is the fourth project that I am doing this method.
Keep up the great projects Steve, I thank you for getting me back into this hobby!

A good idea would be to make a cardboard shim to go in the gap when glueing the last piece to hold it in place. Something not quiet the full width, so it doesnt get glued, but that holds it in the right place easily

Hey steve, i really think you should make a hurley. I know you probably never heard of it but you should do research on it. We use it in an irish sport called hurling. Thanks for your time,

Steve, thanks for all of the wonderful projects this year. I only wish that I was able to make them all. Truthfully, I haven't had time to make hardly anything this year. This whistle project looks like fun. Perhaps I can at least make this one. Merry Christmas and happy new year.

Hi Steve! (Can I call you by your fist name since we are strangers? XD)
I was loking for whistles on internet, you know, the tipes, shapes and sounds; and then I find myself watching your train whistle. I had fun whatching you woodworking!
But, always in the search, I saw by the side this video and said to myself "This is (almost) what I been looking for!!!"....
I'm talking too much. What I ment is: Thank you, it's usefull and fun! And what I want is: Can you try making a more complicated whistle? Like a Fo...40 or a Acm...Tornado, a Mol...dolphin, etc. (Damn copyrights!).
    Thank you!
