I was the second owner of a 5.9. The woman was in sales in three years and racked up over 100,000 miles (highway). I purchased it for $4500 in 2001, owned it until 2009, and sold it with 175,000 miles. It still ran and shifted great and was the best tow vehicle I've ever owned. I replaced it because I needed a pickup. The truck sucked for towing, and I still regret letting it go.

A 9r still can't beat a 4.0. You know this! Bring it to Bundy Hill Offroad Park in lower Michigan and we'll see what she can do. She will get scratched and dented, maybe, if you can wheel her right. Yup calling you out sir! You may be a good restoration guy( I love it well) , but how can you wheel? Give it a 3" lift and add hooks. That's it. I even have a very worn front diff. It's cold now I can hear it till warmed up.
I did love the walk around of both the ZJ 9r's . In my heart.. I would LOVE to pull my 4.0 ZJ to the off-road park with either of these! Same color if Dan remembers. Champagne

Hey Dan , just want to thank you for all your great videos on the jeep cherokees. Your one on the infiniti reference speakers was a Godsend -got a set and love the sound . I just watched the o2 sensor one for the 98 - I have a 97 with that exact problem - unplugged the #1 sensor -problem gone and new sensor ordered - thermostat and rear e-brake are next . Thanks again from another Jeep nut named Dan

congrads on the 9er.I,'ve owned mine since 2011.Typical jeep ,always something!Just replaced the drivers rear quarter glass .fyi there glued in ,no seal like the cherokee.Heater core was a real pita.sunroof don't work and just started leaking.Enjoy😁

Rodney Dickman fan switch(210) for the Fiero and adjust wiring. Uses a gm pigtail (search 1988 2.8 rad fan switch connector in the electrical connector section)from rock auto, lots of options. .Its a goofy round looking thing. Grounded it with a bare wire clamped on the radiator hose T with a hose clamp.

@@ProjectDanH I'll look for a part number on the pigtail if you want. I also used a pigtail to connect to stock wiring to avoid cutting the connector.

I bought one about a year ago deep slate. Both front seats are shot but over all a pretty nice driver.
Always wanted a 5.9 limited. I'm on my 2nd GC. 1st one was a 95 limited with a 4.0. The current one is a 93 Laredo with the 4.0. It's an early model, build date mid 1992 and it has the AW4 auto. Got 321k on the clock on what I suspect is the original engine. I got it at 180k and the most I've had to do to the engine other then basic stuff is rear main, timing chain and front cover gasket/ front main, harmonic balancer, distributor, valve cover gasket. I just fixed the door hinges this weekend with my dad (73 and still gettin after it!) and your video. Door closes better then it ever did in many years! Thanks for all the good info on your door repair video. Looking forward to watching the 5.9 progress into a beast! Sounds knarly with those headers! From WA to NY, 🍻 cheers!

Heah Dan Im watching your video on your new 5.9 and I bought a WJ 02 4.0L for $1500 a month ago. I had he trans rebuilt and put some 5 star Rubicon rims with BFG- ATSI found out it had a 3" Rough Country lift so I replace with some new RC shocks and it runs great 210k miles . I thought I would check here in Oregon and I found some nice examples of the 98 5.9L interesting buy you made . I will be watching. Around Bend Oregon out!

Do a Novak Conversations' transfer case shift cable! It replaces the dogleg linkage with a high grade cable. I did it on my ZJ recently because mine kept bumping out of gear while driving!!
It is pricey and takes awhile to adjust but in the end totally worth it, it is reliable and so solid- you can actually feel the detents in the case! Something this good definitely deserves to be put into a ZJ of such value

My ZJ Orvis has all those bits. Looks just the same. It's a 1998 4.0 in the UK. Just replaced one sill/rocker after looking under the cladding! Even got a full set of Generals.

Right now my 5.9 is sitting in the driveway the instrument cluster quit working and the power windows do not go up and down while the Jeep is running. We still go raise hell around the neighborhood every Saturday or Sunday

Sweet score!!! I say keep it oem and stock but do upgrades like on your last ZJ. Like a restoration and preservation. Too many of these get obliterated and cut up for off road use. In my opinion they look the best original and stock with little tid bits here and there lol. Plus they are really getting hard to find in good shape and not butchered. I will say though you should definitely get the same General Grabber tires you had on grievous. Those looked real good! It had that aggressive but tame look 👌if that makes sense lol.

Gotta wonder if that trans is burnt up after towing in N. Always put the trans in P since the trans pump isnt pumping. Tcase pump will pump fluid as long as rear driveshaft is turning.

Nice ive had m6 5.9 limited for 13 years. I bought a SJ 90 Grand Wagoneer 6 years ago. The niner i kept stock. The SJ is the one i did the major work too and lifted etc.
The upper and lower coolant switchs arent Relays btw they are switchs.. lol. And the switchs arent made anymore. So when one goes bad.. ur kinda boned.. unless you can find them. I have 3 spares nyself.. gone through two so far.
Your friend btw needs to adjust that steering wheel.... That far off center lol cmon.. it takes a few min to adjust the wheel. But i am very curious to why its off center to begin with.
(Stuck) thermostat isnt good either btw.. it can stick closed and then youll overheat till coolant boils out the head gaskets failsafe or not.
First thing you need to do is verify your upper hose fan switch works.. and if your speed fan works. And kicks on.. itll turn on at 212f. High speed is 225 or so.
Also check your alternator.. do you still have the original 150 amp or did prior owners replace it with a 110/90amp. They dont make the 150amps btw. So when the 150 dies.. get it rebuilt. Otherwise youll have to downgrade to 136. The 150 was for the electric fan as it pulls lots of amps.
The Jeep being this old. I 100% garuntee youll need 8 new control arms. Check your torque boxes for rust. They allllll ZJs tend to rust under the drivers and passenger torque box. And rust the frame out. And you wont see it by just looking as the factory undercoat hides it
So many other things i can tell you as ive had ZJs for 20 years.

Hello. Please tell me , jeep grand Cherokee 2002 When opening the doors, the lights in the cabin stopped turning on. And the light in the legs burns , then goes out , but not completely , it burns constantly , at half - intensity . Maybe you have met with such a breakdown ?
