Not a garage queen but driven around and enjoyed. It's a nice looking car with bright red paint, red seats, and red carpet, yes lot's of bright torch red. The car had a couple different things fixed that were under open recall that usually will make this car inoperable, by the previous owners. It's still a "fast car" with a 350hp LS1 aluminum V8, transmission is in the rear of the car so almost 50/50 weight split front to rear. Parts are cheap and the C5 Corvette is known to be fairly reliable with out known major engine or transmission issues and falling apart like some cars do. Before you buy an older discontinued car model, see what parts are available to fix it. The C5 Corvette still has a HUGE after market support and parts availabilty for a few more years.

To buy an older Vette like that, there's usually some nice new parts and all the BS stuff that fails has already been fixed.
Not sure how rare those were in the states but 5.9 limited are pretty common in Canada - sick little rigs
In California it’s not uncommon to see limtied versions of them. Also Lots of zj driving around with 5.2
That cherokee had the same drive train as the dodge Dakota R/T 5.9 and the Durango R/T 5.9
You're half right. Grand cherokee and the durango rt had the same exact drivetrain, the dakota rt was only rear wheel drive.
Different diffs Chrysler 9 1/4 with 3.92 ratio used in the Dakota’s, and Durango’s.
Dana 44 in the rear on the Jeep and some of the jeeps have aluminum center sections on the Dana 44.
That was the SRT8 jeep before the SRT8 jeep I guess
At 8:08 - babies don't stand, they just lie there and the Jeep would have plenty of ground clearance to roll over it.
I remember these in high school my boy had one and we smoked a mustang gt of
That year and a Camaro ss brand new cars and couldn’t beat the truck lol never forget the feeling of that truck that’s why Iam all mopar for life and mind u that was in 2003/04 last years of high school
Ive had my 5.9 ZJ for 13 years now... I also have a 90 Grand Wagoneer for 5 years now. Love them both to death... only issue today.. is long distance driving kills me on gas costs.. it really does hurt when you have say a long distance relationship where you live an hour or so away... my wagoneer takes 50$ in gas to drive to my gf both ways and the ZJ is 30$. I need a 3rd fuel efficient car lol.. but its just so much fun cruising in a Zj or wagoneer
I got a 5.9 98 love it I'm getting a new cat and imma be back to rumbling propr
You are giving the Jeep an additional weight penalty. Switch drivers! LOL
The 5.9 Jeep still looks good
Greetings to all from a happy Grand Cherokee 5.9 owner
I had the 1998 limited 4.0 v6 and was pretty good
I like it but for the year it feels old to current traffic sold it 👍👍👍
That was the softest take off from a Porsche I ever seen
and they brought out the n/a soft top to boot 💀
I'm a huge zj fan and finally got a 5.9 limited two years ago I absolutely love my Jeep and could never imagine selling her. I kick 90s mustangs and Camaros a#$es all the time. I did a 242 transfer case swap and love smoking tires when I can afford the premium gas it requires.
I've got a spare pcm with a flyin Ryan 93 tune on it I'll sell ya at a reasonable price.
@@racerx250 I also have the 93 octane tuned pcm with the stock as a backup. Thank you anyway.
It would be fun to see a modern Grand Cherokee 3.6 V6 vs older V8 Jeep or Porsche etc. older muscle cars even. Modern base family SUV is somewhat quick etc.
A RAV4 Prime would spank it off the line.
I have the dakota rt with the same 5.9 and mustangs and camaros are always surprised when i keep up.😂
You should find the kid with the rwd 8speed swapped jeep commander he has designed his own adapter plate to mount the new 8speed to the first of the new 5.7's it's a beast and it'll be the one you find when Google searching tuned commander
4:55 "Wall aerodynamics", "Cruise Ship Wheight" with long automatic 90's transmission.... LoL
Love the 5.9LM! I still have vids of mine on my page.
98 jeep limited 5.9 vs 03 durango 5.9 R/T would be an amazing race
I lived at 9000 feet above sea level (Toluca, MEX) with my Shelby GLHS for years. My speed secret was to get to sea level (Acapulco). My GC is a 2014 diesel, not fast. I guess you get used 17's in the 1/4 at high altitude
it sold for 3600$ lol the person who got it got a steal!
Lmao it’s been driven hard by the owners of this channel, it’s in rough cosmetic shape and it’s got like 215k miles not what I would call a steal
Hey thats my jeep! But mine has long arms ,slip yoke, woods shafts, upgraded brakes, modifyed rockers, 33s and souped up for off roading lol
Put that up against a 92 or 93 GMC Typhoon. 4.3L Turbo V-6 with 280hp - 350lb-ft.
There's a price difference of about 20k+ and increasing.
@@Carado5150 There’s probably a $20k + price between that 911 cab & that Grand Cherokee. I think calling it the world’s fastest SUV is a bit of a stretch. Like Brian mentioned the 92-93 GMC Typhoon would have destroyed the Jeep Grand Cherokee with its lighter weight, 280hp/360lb/ft torque with a turbo V6. At sea level they’ll run 14.0’s. At elevation it’s hard to say but I’d guess it would be quicker than 17.2 in the 1/4 mi.
@@GrandCamino6 probably had a higher top speed or something
You know you want the 4.0L when you can get one. These 5.9s used to be on Craigslist all day long back in the day.
Emphasis on “back in the day”
You guys should find one of my vehicles, 99 explorer with the 5.0. Awd or rwd
My son had a 95 grand Cherokee with the 5.9. that thing was pretty fast to be stock that all wheel drive made it jump out like a big bullfrog on the line !!!
I bet the jeep would be a beast with a Supercharger bigger injectors cam and intercooler still would be a beast of a sleeper.
Had a Dakota r/t with the 5.9. Nice truck
Race the jeep against an xc90 v8. That will change your mind about no replacement for displacement.
I owned a 1998 5.9 grand Cherokee and that thing ripped
We had the one with a 5.2 it was a runner
I have a turbo from a Saab on my 5.9 tuned with mega squirt
I used to turn my face around when seeing the Jeep somewhere
The seats were very confortable
The 118 mph speed limiter really hurt the Jeep 5.9 but it got there pretty damn quick for what it was
Had death wobble happen at 90. First time experiencing that. Oh man I thought I was done for.
They’re fast from a dead stop until around 30mph or so in the high end it’s slow as fuck
Y’all gotta race that jeep with literally every other sport truck of the late 90s, including a lightning
It's funny to see what used to be considered fast. We have minivans now that run low 14s and would out perform sports cars from the past I'm pretty much all aspects.
