When I started, trucks were built with substantial front ends, so you could tow them from the front. It made tractor swaps lots easier. If you left the engine running with it in neutral the transmission would oil so you didn't have to pull the driveshaft. Now to pull that off you need an underlift, and I'm not sure how well the transmission would lube with an auto
