Reliability, availability, cost, time to reload, etc. The real advantage of early guns was that any scrub could use them. Guns and pikes/halberds coexisted for hundreds of years. Look up spainish tercios.
adropintheocean You'd have to drag a wagon around with you for the amount of bullets you'd need for the hordes of enemies crawling over the land. Best to conserve ammo and use it when your melee weapon wouldn't do the job just as well. A bladed, slashy weapon just won't do the job as greatly against plate. You also have to keep in mind that its not just a world where guns exist, but where magic and massive monsters also exist. A good amount of creatures will shrug off a bullet, and you don't want to spend your precious time reloading a rifle that isn't even that reliable when a great green mass of muscle is charging right at you. Then there's the chaos lads that you see them fighting in the video. Quite some chaotic chaps shrug pain or damage to organs off, so the safest bet is cutting their body to pieces and "disarming" them, as marauders just keep on going, and most nurglites don't feel pain and other discomforts. Some of the chaotic back-busting chiropractors of Khorne will even keep going after their limbs have been cut off.
gameplay wise: you want to save ammo for specials because there are many enemies that trap your teammates and do tons of damage to them or try to drag them away and it's much better to quickly shoot these enemies rather than have to spend a bunch of time chasing after them with your melee weapon (This becomes very important on higher difficulties). Plus melee weapons tend to do a much better job at killing a bunch of scrub tier enemies than ranged weapons anyway. The only reason they don't have severe ammo problems now is because simon is playing the Ranger class which makes specials drop ammo. The Ranger is however probably the worst spec in the game and the tankyness or damage dealing abilities of the other 2 dwarf classes blow ranger out of the water. Lore wise: Pretty much the same reason. You can only carry so much ammo.
can confirm, a raider got me downed after I chopped his left arm off from the shoulder and thought he died. But no, he got up and chopped me right back. Should've went for the right arm

Ok. Time for a cool psychology lesson to answer that rat inquiry. In the 1930's, or some time around there, some researchers couldn't help but notice that clans of rats were very tight-knit, and absolutely HATED other clans. They would start killing eachother viciously if they got too close. So, they removed a rat from one clan, let's call him Fred. They applied the scent of the other clan to Fred and re-introduced him back into his clan. Fred got torn to pieces by his own family, just for smelling different. Anyway, that's my best guess for why rats are synonymous with betrayal and other low morals.

You don’t have to go anywhere in the keep to do anything. You can access items, loot boxes, talents, and crafting all from the character menu.
