Having read some of the rules the Dad's Army section have, holy crap they're BONKERS - Godfrey can reroll his medic check 5/6 times, Jones halves the attacks the enemy get in melee, Walker lets the entire squad shoot twice once per game, and Pike can take up to 6 shots with his Tommy Gun (But it jams permanently if two or more ones are rolled)!
this was, absolutely without a doubt, the best tabletop content the yogs have produced and i am including all of the battle boys in that statement! a suggestion for a follow up, Dads army accidentally end up in D-day?
This series has literally gotten me into bolt action and now I go to an old persons home and play on a monday night. You made me into an old man and I'm loving it
These videos are SO GREAT. The editing and pacing of it all makes a multi-hour endeavor like wargaming a perfect video, and Lewis, Ben, and Pyrion are having such a great time playing. The rotating cast of actors is a HILARIOUS bit that I loved immensely. Amazing work, everyone involved!
Even as someone whos never watched Dad's Army, only knows of it, this was an absolute hoot. I think the more goofy approach made it a lot more entertaining, and the joy of you boys playing definitely came through too. Also fantastic editing Tommy B, your additions are an integral and appreciated part of the formula too!
The rotating members from Dad's Army actually sounds like a neat little rule/ability. Can swap out one model with one of the wounded models, but you can only swap one model.
I still find this to be one of my favorite of these videos. Just so entertaining. And I love Lewis’ being totally ok and encouraging the comedy of swapping people out, because in the end it is just a game, and led to so many great silly moments.
This needs to become the plot to a remake of Dad’s Army! And I can’t believe Pyrion would even consider letting Jones die (and get retroactively revived)!
This is wonderful, I love how they're all so in to it. The pure EMOTION in every dice roll. The shock from the triple 1s the saving grace of the holy 6. It's poetry in film
I love the little Dad's Army figures. Were those an 'official' off the shelf product or were they just made for this video? I do love the swapping of characters as well, even if it's a bit of a cheat. Kinda works like an old school continuity error, like the episode 'Things that go bump in the night' where the exterior scenes have Private Walker but not the studio scenes due to those being filmed after the actor, James Beck's, death.
It was not continuity "error" as such - more a continuity "challenge". If I recall correctly Walker's lines were given to the actor who played the ubiquitous but usually silent Private Sponge.
I loved the moment when, putting their rivalry aside for King and Country, Captain Square and the Eastgate Platoon arrived to reinforce Capt Mainwaring's men!
Private Fraser was a sniper! Part of his back story was that whilst a petty officer in the RN in WW1 his job was to to explode sea mines by shooting at them with his rifle from a mine sweeper standing off at a safe distance . However, it meant that on land he had to simulate the roll of a ship whenever he shot.

I think the scenario should centre about retrieving that well known painting.

You get JUST enough snippets of actual play to get an understanding of the mechanics of the game without it dragging on. AND with the retelling you get the Story of the game. The fun more cinematic version the players imagined in their heads. I haven't played many war games and they've always seemed difficult to get into but these videos get me excited to try! This formula for battle report videos is the best I've seen by far.
Thank you for making another one of these! By far my favorite battle reports on youtube.
I love Pyrion so much! He's so great with voices and making a story XD I love how into it he gets with these!
I can see how these take so long to make but you've really hit on the formula. Amazing quality!
This video was bloody fantastic. I loved how you went all in on the narrative it was so entertaining to watch. More miniature videos please.
