The hype going into this event was crazy. It’s good to have a look back. Mox showing up broke the IWC’s internet
It’s really surprising that it’s almost been 5 years near to the day that AEW first pay per view Double or Nothing happened. A lot can happen in 5 years I guess.
It’s gotta be safe to say that Double or Nothing is the best first show any company has ever put on
Bret Hart appearance makes me wish Tyson Kidd and Harry Smith could’ve wrestled together in AEW
That’s a great shout, I’d of loved to of seen that as well. However not at the expense of Tyson Kidd’s physical health.
Still though, if one thing being a wrestling fan has taught me, is nothing is out of the realm of possibility.
Honestly Cody's "I need my brother" line during that post match segment is still something that hits hard 5 years later.
Seems like only months ago I was as amped as ever for a wrestling renaissance. It may not have played out as I expected back then, but glad its happened in general
I'm happy AEW is Here
And I became a Wrestling fan again
It’s trash tho
@@thedecider6574wrestling is trash*
Got me and my wife back into wrestling. Still the only wrestling we follow now.
For real?
Shawn Spears showing up was a fun surprise
I dont get all the hate between fans of both companies. Week to week Aew put on some of the best wrestling you could hope for. Wwe are doing the storytelling, either way the fans are being served in a way that has never happened in the history of the business, be happy people
Seriously. Just freaking enjoy wrestling as a whole. Why does the IWC seem to want to bathe in the cesspool of tribalism and criticism all the time?
I think the problem is people aren’t willing to just tell the truth about AEW…
@tj-23 aew has plenty of issues for sure, but it also has a ton of positives also just like wwe
@@tj-23the truth is both companies suck and we need a better 3rd company😂😂😂😂😂😂
I always love the opening to this series. Idk why, but its the small details on the VCR, the tape, and tv.
I did some video editing back in highschool 2 decades ago and it nothing that detailed 😂
It makes me feel like an old man seeing what cool shit gets done these days 😂
Jack Whitehall is a huge wrestling fan and has trained to wrestle before, although it was a long time ago
Hey guys, can you make a "The Captivating Career of Sandman"? I don't know the guy, but I remember him on videogames and small clips about ecw. I couldn't find any documentaries or videos talking about his career in wrestling, only a few interviews with no footage of his performances.
You can be the first channel to present a proper informative video about the guy. :)
Great job on this one Jack. Just imagine if a couple of things that happened didn't happen.
Almost half a decade since the first AEW PPV and ALOT has happened during those 5 years good and bad.
Hot take - I liked the voice-overs in Blade Runner, it fit the film noir genre.
I liked them in theory; they did a good job of fleshing out the world-building. But I thought Ford's delivery was a bit monotone. It was nowhere as good as the narration in classic films noirs like "Murder, My Sweet" and "Double Indemnity".
Cody VS Dustin is still one of the greatest, if not the greatest matches of all time. Definitely the most emotional match of all time!
Thank god for AEW
Jim Ross was a huge get for AEW
AEW Dustin Rhodes is great
Get what he meant but calling Dusty/Cody "an all time AEW match" comes across with the same energy as going "Of all films ever, this is definitely one of them."
First match I watched in over twenty years got me interested again, I agree with him, it was an emotional hard hitting match
AEW helped me revive my love for pro wrestling. I was so about to give up because of the ridiculous monopoly WWE had and how it was basically We put on what we want and suck it up if you don't like. Is it perfect? Of course not
Thats cool and all but why did Riho push Yuka at fyter fest 2019???
They never did get Cody and Dustin towards the tag belts. Being wwe and see tag Champs before ftr would have be nice to see
Can we please get a video on the relationship between aaa and cmll, with forbidden door bringing this back to light
Haa! 8:34
This pic makes it look like Excalibur has a bunch of hair in one side of his nose.
😄👍
Hey, a show I was at. Rare to see a video about one.
I was a lapsed WWE fan at the time, a little bored of the same old but didn't hate it or anything. Didn't pay attention to any wresting news until I saw one photo- Dustin hugging Cody, covered in blood. I remember googling 'what is AEW'... and yeh apart from a couple of months break I've watched every episode of regular(not youtube) AEW show since. Even got me back watching WWE on the regular as well.
Why does everyone forget and dismiss TNA in the 2000s as a competitor. This is an actual question since in some what new to pro wrestling and it's history
TNA from 2005-2009 was a competitor. TNA after Hogan took over creative was nowhere close to a competitor. You heard Jack. The very first PPV from a new company dwarfed every TNA PPV ever in terms of PPV buys. That doesn't say competitor at all.
@@WarEagle1023 thank you
@@adandelgado8591no problem man.
Because it never had solid backing and even at its peak, it rarely drew more than 3,000 fans per show.
Was there live for this show, Cody vs Dustin was a barn burner, and seeing Mox roll thru the crowd was a massive surprise and it helped legitimize what was a young AEW for the time, love this first show
The night the plumber was born!
Cody Rhodes vs Dustin Rhodes gave me Eli Manning vs Peyton Manning vibes
Thank For the Story Video 📖🙊🤯😁😻💗😍🥰💐🌟🥇🏆😇🙏🏿🕊️✝️💟☮️🛐♾️🤗👍🤍🌟🥇🏆
AEW 👍
F the haters ratings watchers & doomsdayers
Just sthu & enjoy wrestling
Tribalism sucks
Where is this energy in the early years. Now aew is losing. It let enjoy all wrestling.
@@SirDumplin It's still good its just going to take time to undo crying man bs punks crap it drove fans away punk hurt AEW as bad as Russo hurt WCW
@@SirDumplinI have been for AEW since day 1. Competition breeds innovation and I believe AEW did that
I love all wrestling. Do people like just one flavor of ice cream?
@@WarEagle1023 👍
They've been around for almost 5 years and they still aren't bigger than the company that has existed for over 40 years? Obviously AEW is a failure...
Genuinely hope this is sarcasm....
@@WarEagle1023 it is genuine sarcasm, yes
Yes
And they just became the second most profitable wrestling company in history. Such a horrifying result😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wtf is going on at 1:37
i was there, it was perfect
Wow, a comment section completely devoid of AEW haters. I'm kind of shocked by the lack of gatekeeping😂.
I miss the old look of aew
It would be better to announce Pac as the former NXT champion rather than former WWE cruiserweight champ.
Dean Ambrose is still a work
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
When they gonna do a war stories episode about WWE vs. TNA???
The New Monday War.
Phenomenonal documentary 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😢
Hardly a competitor. Its more like a joke
Wrestling is a joke😂😂😂
Both of y’all can’t be first
I dont like aew but u have watched multipe double or nothing 2019 clips and videos becauae it was literally perfect
It 5 year anniversary and for haters AEW dies for the last 4 years haha XDDD
Do the rise and fall of AEW
And then they crapped almost all this good will away. Great job Tony
Yeah, $180 Million a year is so bad😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Crazy that this company is on the brink of extinction
It just became the second most profitable wrestling company in history.
AEW In 2019 was fresh and could be something different!
AEW In 2024 is just pure garbage!
How? Dynamite has been really good in the last 3 weeks.
@@Ge0rgika Great wrestling maybe but at the same time what’s the stories here? What am I invested in? It Swerve being a placeholder World Champion for a British Guy! I don’t watch dynamite on Wednesdays. I usually watch it the next day because on Wednesdays is Survivor night!
Not garbage per se, the in-ring stuff in AEW is top notch, but the storytelling and character development is wack.
@@danielholmes-nj5nq The in ring is basic indy garbage!
Wrestling is pure garbage😂😂😂😂😂😂
Tony Kahn = Herb Abrams with unlimited trust fund
Comparing Tony Khan to Herb Abrams is no knowing about how batshit Herb Abrams was.
The company is now profitable.....
First
I look forward to an AEW without Jim Ross. He has to be one of the most bitter and miserable old men on the planet. He is widely considered the greatest (or at very least, one of the greatest) play-by-play man in US wrestling history, but he acts like he never gets any respect. He seems proud that he has refused to go through the therapy necessary to address his prolific daddy issues.
I neber heard of AEW! wow they must be destryed WWE now!
You are godamm right!!!
Now tell the true story of how quickly the awesome debut went to shit.
But cultaholic is telling biographical wrestling stories, not some mark's crybitching
@@WillyKillya I believe how quickly the bloom was off the rose would still be a biographical wrestling story.
@@chrissalem3747 again, that's a story for you, not everyone
@@WillyKillya not everything is a story for everyone. That's the beauty of different tales. Some appeal to some people, others appeal to others. So again, how quickly the amazing start deteriorated is a biographical wrestling story.
@@chrissalem3747 but that's a story in your head, that is your perspective, that is not how everyone sees it
"Changed wrestling forever" lol y'all give aew too much credit. Wwe was gonna become better with or without aew. It wasn't aew pushing wwe to get better,it was vince slowing wwe. AEW is still light years behind,go outside and nobody knows aew, they didn't change shit. WWE is STILL and Forever will be the number 1.
That's the thing. Nobody with a brain believes that AEW is number 1. But you can't dent that AEW didn't light a fire under WWE. Competition breeds innovation. Hell AEW bested NXT so bad Vince scrapped the black and gold era. So you are lying if you truly believe that
Yeah the half empty arenas and record low tv ratings as well as the part timers burying all the rising stars really spelled out a successful business plan from WWE😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@WarEagle1023why does everyone choose to forget just how empty wwe arenas were in 2018? How Super Roman was a massive failure? How WWE offered The Elite contracts with full creative control just to stop them from creating AEW?
It's starting to sink in?? You fn Meltzer marks are starting to realise we are getting closer to the End???
Long Live CM Punk and Long Live Jim Cornette!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You should get off of your knees sometimes
@@mikeddh2018 AEW Fanboy Detected 🫵🤣🤣🤣🫵
Fragile Phil the worst UFC fighter in history, and Who????
Yeah, that new tv deal just made them the second most profitbale wrestling company in history. ITS OVER😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
