Hi! I have been looking to connect a gpon/xpon module directly to my router (opnsense) what sfp+ cards support those modules? I heard that not all cards are compatible.

Am I crazy, or did you get 10G speed with an 1.25G optical module in the Mellanox SFP port? You said 10G optical cable, so I'm a bit lost here…

Please watch at 5:44, this is a Mellanox DAC cable with sfp+ connector (10G).

Yes th cable is 10G with SFP+ connector but @15:25 you mention the same cable with the 1.25G adapter, that’s what I didn’t understand

for the jumbo frame test did you set the mtu to 9000 on the zuma side too ?

Exactly; the mtu should be set to the same value on both sides of the connection.

Yes, you can also try the Emulex/Intel cards which I already made the videos.

This was an interesting test. I'd like to see the dmesg output for the dual SFP port card too.

Sorry I didn't keep the log. With the dual SFP+ port adapter, when you insert the module to the 2nd port, there will be an error message "unsupported cable" or something similar on the OpenWRT console. I am not sure if this is the problem with Mellanox Connect-X3 adapter in OCP connector (and converted to PCIe via adapter) or it is the same with the Connect-X3 adapter with PCIe X4 connector.

also for iperf3 test please try to run several TCP connections in parallel with -P4 or something similar to see if there is any throughput improvement (multiple flows can be processed in parallel on different queues/cpu threads). Trying with UDP with -u -b10g would be interesting too.

This is what I'm looking for, I think. This as my router, with a mikrotik 10gb switch in switch mode, I should have minimal bottlenecks for my casual use cases. 😊

Did you stop using the Mellanox and replace it with a media converter? I am thinking about testing a Gowin R86S which has this Mellanox board.

Currently the answer is yes. I am using a 2.5G SFP GPON module with the 2.5G media converter and the NanoPi R6S. As I tested the Mellanox doesn’t support 2.5G (either 1G or 10G only)

is it possible for to test dual port SFP + on zima board with pfsense?

Unfortunately I don't use pfSense a lot and know how to install the driver for the ConnextX-3. As I tested with OpenWRT and Debian, only a 1 SFP+ is working despite the card has dual SFP+. I believe it should be the same for pfSense.

Hi, this NIC only supports either 1G or 10G, 2.5G is not supported.

现在只有Viettel有XGSPON，可是他们只在河内-胡志明市两个大的城市可用。其他的都是GPON。这里没有EPON。
