Thanks for your videos. It is quite refreshing to hear a voice rather than music and fast moving screen shots. I have only just started on FreeCAD and have used your videoss on the "revolve feature" in a couple of my small stationary steam engines. Don from Australia.
Got a new subscriber here! I love your pace, not to slow, not to fast and very limited number of "hmm's" I just started with FreeCAD, I have used Blender for a number of years now, but I am getting in to CAD so I can start using CNC to design parts. Thanks for all your hard work!
Thanks for this tutorial. I learned more in this single tutorial than i have in the last 2 months trying to use FreeCad. Looking forward to your other tutorials.
To echo what others have already said.. Thank you for the clarity of detail at a pace where one is able to absorb the various steps in an overall sequence. For future topics... "An example that uses multiple bodies, parts and groups" please - would be of immense help.
Thank you very much for the wonderful tutorial that you had provided to use. But when I use the add mirror transformation. Each part(all four parts) is separated from the others. But in your video tutorial. All parts become one part. No vertical line and horizontal line to separate into four parts. Could you teach me to solve this problem
Greate work! Love your pace, right level of details and objective. Is there any tutorial of yours reviewing FreeCAD general conceptual functionality? Application, File, Body, Sketch seems to be the hierarchy. Can a sketch be integrated into the body after being created with the sketcher workbench? Is it possible for example to use with Arch Workbench parts previously created with Part Design? Thank you for the great tutorial.
You're Freecad tutorials are in a league of their own, pity that you didn't take this into the Path Design workbench and try the engrave toolpath because Freecad is quite capable of doing a professional job?
@@MarthamEngineering Am looking forward to your videos, it's safe to say they will be good! I did your above video in Freecad but used Gothic and the engraving toolpath handled it with no problem, absolutely delighted with myself, thanks!
SO many techniques that aren't covered in other tutorials, and all done in such a simple design. Great job on this. For creating the inset, does it make more sense to use the external geometry of your previous sketch or of the pad feature itself? Pros/cons?
I know it's old video, but when I did the transform, I still have for quadrants with horiz and vert lines dividing them. Yours is one surface. What am I missing? I am using version 0.19. TIA
Great Video... but for some reason the multitransform feature created 4 parts " well 4 parts when I moved my mouse over them " I have the sketch correctly constrained to the centre as you have in the video and it also turned green... I'm using freecad 0.19... I've been using it for about 2 months.. I'm currently a professional autodesk inventor user with over 15 years of experience, so I'm wondering if it could be my setup on freecad that's not the same as yours ?? Another great video, thanks. I think I might have hit a bug in FreeCAD, when I tried to create a pocket with the ShapeString it removed the face the text was supposed to cut into. Everything else worked fine so I just skipped that step.
Again another excellent tutorial but this one has caused me an issue I can't work around. Nicely done tutorial. I learned a little more today. I'll have to watch and follow along a few times to get it down to where I can accomplish these tasks without looking back as I work. But, that's fine. At least I have a go-to for such things. My big issue now is that every tutorial shows how everything works when it all goes right. I have yet to completely restrained an object that I'm working on. I can follow along exactly and still end up with two to four constraints missing. Is there a tutorial on that? Thanks in advance!
It's a great video and I will be watching a lot more - thanks. However, when I do the 2 mirror transforms I get the same shape as you but it is still 4 objects and I can't "select the face" as oyu do - it only selects one of the 4 faces which make up the whole sign, I've watched it several times and can't see what I did differently. Can anyone help me please?
