Defense for Mewtwo: Level Up Moveset 1. Confusion: Like just make him confused about something arbitrary, his tunnel vision and concentration may break.(This could be banned) 2. Disable: Its a bit leaning towards the unorthodox side but Mewtwo can just cancel the abilities that LJ does have. 3. Safeguard: Self-explanatory 4. Future Sight: He can find where the ball will be in the future as long as the ball is visible, which it has to be at some point. Plus you can't count a point if the ref or judge doesn't see the ball go into the net in the first place, so the ball must be visible, which then cascades into Mewtwo being able to do his moves.
There is one thing you're forgetting about. Mewtwos innate ability of either pressure or unnerve. Those aren't from any item enhancements. It's innate, so Mewtwo can use it to affect LeBron
Unless LeBron is eating berries on the court, unnerve doesn't matter. And I guess pressure would be equivalent to like... each shot makes him a little more tired?
@@KBRoller The thing about Unnerve is not that it just makes opponents unable to eat berries, it's that the reason for why it does so is because it makes the opponents *too nervous* to eat berries. So, not only would LeBron be more tired and heavier because of pressure, he could also be too nervous to even dribble or shoot correctly. Mewtwo stomps and it's not even close.

counterpoint: "me first" is in mewtwo's natural learnset, bypasses accuracy checks (meaning it can still hit targets with high evasiveness like lebron's invisibility), and with base 130 speed putting mewtwo in the top 20 fastest gen 9 pokemon, any attempt of dunking made by lebron would be pre-emptively countered by mewtwo dunking first

But the speed stat of a pokemon isnt necessarily linked to his actual top speed across a distance. Its more like how fast can the pokemon attack. Plus we dont know the pokemon stats of a human. We have no idea what the pokemon stats of a human were, so we can't use stats at all to compare mewtwo to leBron

I'm not too sure about the rules of basketball but couldn't you challenge the play if he went invisible with the ball? You could say he did an "illegal basketball move" and we couldn't see it. The way I kinda imagined the invisibility was like a short teleport or blink to get behind the opponent

There is a big flaw here. Lebron's counter only works on PROJECTILES, and since mewtwo's telepathic manipulation of the ball was considered physical, Lebron's counter would not work, meaning that they would jsut keep trading points rather than Lebron always countering.
Which makes it a surprisingly even match. It gets better if you take into consideration Mewtwo's superior speed and Lebron's superior experience. This might be Mewtwo's first ever basketball match so he goes in only knowing the rules and possibly training a little before the match, while Lebron is breathing basketball and is leagues more experienced. This is before any powers with purely their physical abilities. This is an interesting match.
But dont forget lebron can make decoys meaning he could just make a decoy mewtwo would think hes there then he could just grab the ball out of psychic while floating then gg
And it also assumes that Mewtwo, a being with intelligence far surpassing any human, would continue shooting the ball straight into Lebron's hands instead of waiting half a second for lebron to fall back down to the ground. And if psychic powers count as physical contact, there's nothing stopping him from ripping the ball out of lebron's hands even before he goes for a shot. If we go by the rules in this video, Mewtwo could just levitate the ball 50 ft in the air and shoot it at mach speeds to the net and release his powers so blocking would be illegal, and Lebron could never even get the ball above net height without it being ripped out of his hands.
I don't think this is really all that sound: 1- Learning TMs before the fight should be allowed because Lebron is perfectly allowed to learn new moves or techniques before the fight. That means that: A- Mewtwo could use Psychic Noise to bypass Lebron's 'Substitute' B- Mewtwo could use Disable ( learned at level 1 ) to Disable Lebron's Invisibility or Substitutes, and also Imprison to stop Lebron from using Substitutes of his own. C- Mewtwo could use Brick Break to shatter Lebron's sheild. D- Aura Sphere Ignores evasion changes, so Mewtwo would still be able to hit Lebron despite him being invisible. E- Mewtwo could use Swagger to confuddle Lebron before he even gets the chance to pull his tricks. 2- Mewtwo has been shown in media other than the games to be Capable of Mega Evolution without the required stone. Pokken Tournament especially. 3- I'm fairly certain turning completely invisible is 'against the spirit of the game'
Also in multiversus, LeBron can only use his block on items that aren't bring held, so if mewtwos psychic abilities count as holding the ball, then his block won't work
First of if Mewtwo doesn't get to have a mega stone LeBron doesn't get item powerups. I would also say the best set for Mewtwo would be the ability pressure, and moves barrier, mist, recover, and either psychic or aura sphere which are all obtainable naturally. Pressure would tire LeBron out twice as fast, barrier would be used to block the ball, mist to obscure LeBron's vision, recover to increase Mewtwo's stamina, and psychic would allow mewtwo to manipulate the ball or aura sphere would let him have 100% accuracy with the ball but it could still be blocked.
You forgot to mention how Mewtwo can just hold the ball and teleport, and even if that isn't allowed, Mewtwo is canonically known for being aircraft level speed. Mewtwo also can see into the future, create mist along the entire court, use power swap AND guard swap, along with disable and confusion. (All of these are from level up, not TMS) Mewtwo could swap defensive abilities, disable invisibility, and oops forgot to mention- LeBron James couldn't even touch Mewtwo with the force fields Mewtwo is canonically shown to make in the movie. Who's to say Mewtwo can't just put up a force field around him, hold the ball, teleport to the rim, float there and just pass the ball through the hoop?

Just wanna say, even though it doesn't affect much, the anime/movie Mewtwo was capable of achieving mega evolution without the need for mega stone. In the event of compositing data like this, a mega stone is not necessary. (Note this has only been recorded to allow him to turn into Mewtwo Y, but figured it should still be mentioned)

There's actually one big mistake in this theory! Mewtwo doesn't actually need the stones to mega evolve. In both "Genesect and the Legend Awakened" and "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX." Mewtwo is able to mega evolve without using anything. I believed it's called an awakened form, and Mewtwo is able to mega evolve into both forms. With this in mind, I think Mewtwo would beat Lebron even with his comic powers.

ALMOST. We did not delve into Mewtwo's movepool enough - excluding technical machines, as noted, but including move tutor moves. We have: Gravity (unsure if this counts as impeding LeBron as essentially all it would do is counter his levitation), Disable (which could prevent LeBron from using his moves, though unsure if that counts as impeding), Miracle Eye (which allow Mewtwo to hit evasive targets e.g. invisible ones) and the icing on the cake the two moves Mimic/Me First & Role Play, which allow Mewtwo to respectively copy moves and abilities of LeBron. I also wonder how far Mewtwo could float the ball up vs. how far LeBron could fly, because Mewtwo could simply drop the ball from high enough into the basket - downward motion and untouched, so cannot be goalkept. Still epic work, Tom!

I think there is a flaw. Mewtoo could just get the ball straight up over the ring and shoot it at enormous speeds, which means even if LeBron will counter it, it will count as goalkeeping.

16:14 but i dont think the NBA or other basketball groups allow interference since cloning means adding a copy of yourself which is interference, and also, turning invisible means that you are not present, because, you physically technically arent there, so either way mewtwo wins.
Catch is that it's not a fight, but a basketball match with all rules applied (with stretching the definition of some aspects). Neither Mewtwo nor Lebron James can do whatever they want. If no powers are allowed at all, I think it's a surprising even match with each have different advantages: Mewtwo is faster while Lebron is more experienced. With powers I think it would come down to who can get a hold of the ball more often so I would give a slight edge for Mewtwo purely based on speed.
The only problem I see with this is that multiple times pokemon talks about how psychic types don't need to see the opponent to hit them, so invisibility wouldn't matter and if LeBron is dunking the ball then Mewtwo is allowed to use psychic to block it for the same reason LeBron uses deny

Honestly I feel very convinced but not fully, considering that you said that mewtwo psychic powers are illegal in basketball but Lebron is able to turn invisible. You mention that he can’t be caught then, but won’t he be caught once he dunks the ball? The other thing I had also thought about was you didn’t really develop any characteristic attacks that mewtwo has for example he also can use teleport which is almost the same or better as lebrons invisibility. I also took note that mewtwo can use disable an attack that will stop Lebron from using his block mewtwo can also use barrier which dose the same as lebrons special block also can’t mewtwo also guard the hoop and can’t mewtwo use confusion to make lebron miss his shots? psychics takes the worst of both worlds, it isn't physically attached to something so you can argue it's a projectile , and it's be controled by mewtoo so it wouldn't count as goalkeeping

Mewtwo's level up movesets and move tutor movesets should be included since they don't require TM discs to be learned. Mewtwo learns Miracle Eye by leveling up in Gen 5 which enables an evasive target to be hit, negating LeBron's invisibility. Mewtwo also learns Substitute by move tutor in Gen 3, so both of them can make decoys.
Oke so couple things: 1. thats how decoy works INGAME not in the logic of the pokemon universe, in universe it's basicly a substitution jutsu, and even then thats not the same as what lebron is doing 2. mewtwo has been clocked around 100mph or around 5x as fast as lebron on his best day 3. waving off his telepthy because "he's been snuck up on" is like saying "this swordsman can't fight because he dosen't have a sword" after a couple seconds he would be able to lock on to lebron and stay locked on to know exactly where he is regardless of invisibility, also as DND puts it, invisibility just makes it so a person can't see you, not that you don't leave any traces 4. mewtwo's psysic power is pinpoint accurate enough to let him fight against multiple pokemon that are just as fast as them, if not more so (the genosect movie) sure they lost that fight but again 100MPFH so here's how i think this would go, mewtwo would be caught off guard for like the first 3 points, maybe 4 if lebron can put up that guard enough, but then mewtwo just....dodges the guard? and steals the ball as soon as he hears it bouncing and scores 50 baskets in the next fourty minutes
Pretty sure if LeBron James turn invisible, you can still hear the squeaking of the shoes, and the bouncing of the ball. On top of that, the making a duplicate, then going invisible to score a hoop might work once, but then I’m pretty sure Mewtwo would become wise to that trick. Also, I’m pretty sure Mewtwo would still be aware of the presence of his competitor that he knows he’s up against so he’d probably continuously have a psychic link with LeBron James.
Before the move was removed in gen 8, Mewtwo could learn miracle eye, which has the effect of resetting the opponents evasiveness. This implies Mewtwo would be able to see invisible Lebron as if he were visible. Mewtwo can also learn disable which disables a move for 1-8 turns which he could use to disable Lebron's substitute after he uses it. Then Mewtwo could grab the ball with telekinesis, and teleport to the goal to shoot before Lebron can block it.

I think you're forgetting an important factor here: intelligence. See Mewtwo is far more intelligent than LeBron. Yeah LeBron's invisibility might get him the first few times, but as soon as Mewt figures out whats going on, he wont be falling for any decoys (this is basketball not turn based rpg). Also Mewt can do more than just dunk, LeBron's fence ability only works if the opponent is dunking the ball otherwise its not allowed. Mewt could use his powers to throw the ball at the right angle and just let gravity do the rest. Heck he could probably drop the ball straight down. Its not as one sided as we thought, but Mewtwo still has the upper hand.

If it WAS illegal to go invisible hen lebron would be caught as he would have to reappear to make the point count, If nobody see him score they can't count it. 2. mewtwo could let go of the ball after it's perfectly aligned close to the goal. Therefore lebron could not stop him because it would be goaltending Lebron might still win but Mewtwo now has a better chance.
But the ring gives him an unfair advantage which is against the rules cuz as you said. “A player shall not surpass their natural ability through the use of synthetic substances” which is why mewtwo couldn’t use TM’s. You also said “Any kind of equipment that is designed to increase a player’s height or reach or in any way give an unfair advantage is not permitted” and the ring is giving lebron a unfair advantage. So no lebron James won’t beat mewtwo in a 1v1 basketball match.
All Mewtwo has to do is pull off a successful down-special from smash bros (the one where he stuns the enemy if they make eye contact), and Lebron is done.

you never see mewtwo actually watching the tms so it does count as drugs, also disable counts as impeding a player's progress and he can't use it, and since lebron isn't in a turn based battle game we don't know wether substitute is gonna work on him

There is a big flaw here. Lebron's counter only works on PROJECTILES, and since mewtwo's telepathic manipulation of the ball was considered physical, Lebron's counter would not work, meaning that they would jsut keep trading points rather than Lebron always countering.
Which makes it a surprisingly even match. It gets better if you take into consideration Mewtwo's superior speed and Lebron's superior experience. This might be Mewtwo's first ever basketball match so he goes in only knowing the rules and possibly training a little before the match, while Lebron is breathing basketball and is leagues more experienced. This is before any powers with purely their physical abilities.

And if psychic powers count as physical contact, there's nothing stopping him from ripping the ball out of lebron's hands even before he goes for a shot.
If we go by the rules in this video, Mewtwo could just levitate the ball 50 ft in the air and shoot it at mach speeds to the net and release his powers so blocking would be illegal, and Lebron could never even get the ball above net height without it being ripped out of his hands.

I don't think this is really all that sound:
1- Learning TMs before the fight should be allowed because Lebron is perfectly allowed to learn new moves or techniques before the fight. That means that:
A- Mewtwo could use Psychic Noise to bypass Lebron's 'Substitute'
B- Mewtwo could use Disable ( learned at level 1 ) to Disable Lebron's Invisibility or Substitutes, and also Imprison to stop Lebron from using Substitutes of his own.
C- Mewtwo could use Brick Break to shatter Lebron's sheild.
D- Aura Sphere Ignores evasion changes, so Mewtwo would still be able to hit Lebron despite him being invisible.
E- Mewtwo could use Swagger to confuddle Lebron before he even gets the chance to pull his tricks.
2- Mewtwo has been shown in media other than the games to be Capable of Mega Evolution without the required stone. Pokken Tournament especially.
3- I'm fairly certain turning completely invisible is 'against the spirit of the game'

First of if Mewtwo doesn't get to have a mega stone LeBron doesn't get item powerups. I would also say the best set for Mewtwo would be the ability pressure, and moves barrier, mist, recover, and either psychic or aura sphere which are all obtainable naturally. Pressure would tire LeBron out twice as fast, barrier would be used to block the ball, mist to obscure LeBron's vision, recover to increase Mewtwo's stamina, and psychic would allow mewtwo to manipulate the ball or aura sphere would let him have 100% accuracy with the ball but it could still be blocked.
You forgot to mention how Mewtwo can just hold the ball and teleport, and even if that isn't allowed, Mewtwo is canonically known for being aircraft level speed.
Mewtwo also can see into the future, create mist along the entire court, use power swap AND guard swap, along with disable and confusion. (All of these are from level up, not TMS)
Mewtwo could swap defensive abilities, disable invisibility, and oops forgot to mention- LeBron James couldn't even touch Mewtwo with the force fields Mewtwo is canonically shown to make in the movie.
Who's to say Mewtwo can't just put up a force field around him, hold the ball, teleport to the rim, float there and just pass the ball through the hoop?

There's actually one big mistake in this theory! Mewtwo doesn't actually need the stones to mega evolve. In both "Genesect and the Legend Awakened" and "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX." Mewtwo is able to mega evolve without using anything. I believed it's called an awakened form, and Mewtwo is able to mega evolve into both forms. With this in mind, I think Mewtwo would beat Lebron even with his comic powers.
The question then would be, can he see LeBron invisible in Mega Mewtwo Y?

ALMOST. We did not delve into Mewtwo's movepool enough - excluding technical machines, as noted, but including move tutor moves. We have: Gravity (unsure if this counts as impeding LeBron as essentially all it would do is counter his levitation), Disable (which could prevent LeBron from using his moves, though unsure if that counts as impeding), Miracle Eye (which allow Mewtwo to hit evasive targets e.g. invisible ones) and the icing on the cake the two moves Mimic/Me First & Role Play, which allow Mewtwo to respectively copy moves and abilities of LeBron.
I also wonder how far Mewtwo could float the ball up vs. how far LeBron could fly, because Mewtwo could simply drop the ball from high enough into the basket - downward motion and untouched, so cannot be goalkept.

If no powers are allowed at all, I think it's a surprising even match with each have different advantages: Mewtwo is faster while Lebron is more experienced. With powers I think it would come down to who can get a hold of the ball more often so I would give a slight edge for Mewtwo purely based on speed.

The only problem I see with this is that multiple times pokemon talks about how psychic types don't need to see the opponent to hit them, so invisibility wouldn't matter and if LeBron is dunking the ball then Mewtwo is allowed to use psychic to block it for the same reason LeBron uses deny

Honestly I feel very convinced but not fully, considering that you said that mewtwo psychic powers are illegal in basketball but Lebron is able to turn invisible. You mention that he can’t be caught then, but won’t he be caught once he dunks the ball? The other thing I had also thought about was you didn’t really develop any characteristic attacks that mewtwo has for example he also can use teleport which is almost the same or better as lebrons invisibility. I also took note that mewtwo can use disable an attack that will stop Lebron from using his block mewtwo can also use barrier which dose the same as lebrons special block also can’t mewtwo also guard the hoop and can’t mewtwo use confusion to make lebron miss his shots? I don’t really know but I would like to hear some other opinions on this topic.

psychics takes the worst of both worlds, it isn't physically attached to something so you can argue it's a projectile , and it's be controled by mewtoo so it wouldn't count as goalkeeping

Mewtwo learns Miracle Eye by leveling up in Gen 5 which enables an evasive target to be hit, negating LeBron's invisibility. Mewtwo also learns Substitute by move tutor in Gen 3, so both of them can make decoys.

Oke so couple things:
1. thats how decoy works INGAME not in the logic of the pokemon universe, in universe it's basicly a substitution jutsu, and even then thats not the same as what lebron is doing
2. mewtwo has been clocked around 100mph or around 5x as fast as lebron on his best day
3. waving off his telepthy because "he's been snuck up on" is like saying "this swordsman can't fight because he dosen't have a sword" after a couple seconds he would be able to lock on to lebron and stay locked on to know exactly where he is regardless of invisibility, also as DND puts it, invisibility just makes it so a person can't see you, not that you don't leave any traces
4. mewtwo's psysic power is pinpoint accurate enough to let him fight against multiple pokemon that are just as fast as them, if not more so (the genosect movie) sure they lost that fight but again 100MPFH
so here's how i think this would go, mewtwo would be caught off guard for like the first 3 points, maybe 4 if lebron can put up that guard enough, but then mewtwo just....dodges the guard? and steals the ball as soon as he hears it bouncing and scores 50 baskets in the next fourty minutes

This implies Mewtwo would be able to see invisible Lebron as if he were visible. Mewtwo can also learn disable which disables a move for 1-8 turns which he could use to disable Lebron's substitute after he uses it. Then Mewtwo could grab the ball with telekinesis, and teleport to the goal to shoot before Lebron can block it.

I think you're forgetting an important factor here: intelligence.
See Mewtwo is far more intelligent than LeBron. Yeah LeBron's invisibility might get him the first few times, but as soon as Mewt figures out whats going on, he wont be falling for any decoys (this is basketball not turn based rpg).
Also Mewt can do more than just dunk, LeBron's fence ability only works if the opponent is dunking the ball otherwise its not allowed. Mewt could use his powers to throw the ball at the right angle and just let gravity do the rest. Heck he could probably drop the ball straight down.
Its not as one sided as we thought, but Mewtwo still has the upper hand.

Great theory, But you missed that 1. If it WAS illegal to go invisible hen lebron would be caught as he would have to reappear to make the point count, If nobody see him score they can't count it. 2. mewtwo could let go of the ball after it's perfectly aligned close to the goal. Therefore lebron could not stop him because it would be goaltending Lebron might still win but Mewtwo now has a better chance.
But the ring gives him an unfair advantage which is against the rules cuz as you said. “A player shall not surpass their natural ability through the use of synthetic substances” which is why mewtwo couldn’t use TM’s. You also said “Any kind of equipment that is designed to increase a player’s height or reach or in any way give an unfair advantage is not permitted” and the ring is giving lebron a unfair advantage. So no lebron James won’t beat mewtwo in a 1v1 basketball match.
All Mewtwo has to do is pull off a successful down-special from smash bros (the one where he stuns the enemy if they make eye contact), and Lebron is done.

after 1 min of reaserch i found that mewtwo can just learn substatute, future sight and disable before the mach (also x atack would be the equivelent of performan enhancind drugs NOT tms
you never see mewtwo actually watching the tms so it does count as drugs, also disable counts as impeding a player's progress and he can't use it, and since lebron isn't in a turn based battle game we don't know wether substitute is gonna work on him
