Residents of Fort Mac: I watched the tv in awe as you calmly waited in lines of cars, motorbikes, in buses, trucks and even on horses, to evacuate the town past enormous walls of fire. When I flew to the UK, one week later, my family and friends could not stop asking and talking about how amazing you all were. I met some of you shopping to replace your underwear in lingerie stores in Cross Iron Mills, Calgary and was humbled by your lack of complaining. When I returned home I had a new appreciation for my favourite clothes and underwear. You have set a very high bar for Albertans to reach in terms of coping in a disaster. Fiona, Calgary West Jet, thank you for this. Its heart warming and helps me appreciate everything I have.
I know there will be one family especially grateful. They used their "East Coast Christmas" savings account to rebuild from the fire. I never knew their names, just their plan. I prayed for them. :D I love how each Christmas God uses West Jet to do his work!

As an avid traveler and writer when I saw this it touched my heart so deeply that so many people that had lost their homes and belongings yet there was still that miracle of Christmas hope that gathered the many that came from that city with West jets help . When I see this kind of joyous care and holiday spirit it makes my heart care more about those that had lost so much from this town that was able to get alive . That this one of the most beautiful christmas gifts that West Jet has given to the town so that hope was never forgotten and that the sprit of Christmas could be shared with the many that greeted those that were at the Christmas Celebration . When you have a caring airline that saw so many people that had lost their homes they wanted to create that special holiday night for one and all .
This made me cry so much omfg. I'm so proud that Fort McMurray is still strong after what happend. My school had a fundraiser for them just my class and we raised around $2000 all together! Proud to be Canadian!
As someone who went through this through May and June (I live in Fort Mac) I can honestly say this touched my heart. Me and my family were lucky enough to live where the fire barely touched but many of my friends still have no home to go back to.
