The second time I played this commercial I somehow had two tabs open playing it at different points and this *just happened*. "I am your grandfather. I'm going to fucking kill you. You are prefect."
Most of the people who are not native sepakers learned phrases from american action movies and had problems with beach/bitch. Former didn't help the latter, since "beach" was rarely used in these movies. They managed to smuggle some childish humor in a distinguisged way. Plus I suspect your expectation was built in this suspension before grandpa spoke, to add another layer of fun for Internet dwellers.

It’s August 2023, I’m sitting, watching this on repeat and sobbing. This ad made such an imprint in my heart, I watch it every year without fail and cry and laugh every single time. This is possibly the best Christmas commercial ever, I always share it with other people. ❤

Today, this video was a part of "bagrot exam" for 4 points English students in Israel
This is just about the sweetest language learning video I've ever seen. Hats off.
This ad has a double bottom. It is addressed to Polish emigrants in the UK, who left their homeland in search of a better life. Grandfather is willing to learn a few words in English for his grandchildren whom he loves over his own life, but they can not understand him because they live in another country. Still, he wants to have contact with them. In my opinion, this is a sad ad, that shows us the problems of Polish politics and the labor market. How many people have to sacrifice for the sake of their children. I hope that the current government will not allow my next generation to leave my country.

Nie zarabiałem najgorzej 2800zł netto. Nie miałem własnego mieszkania, a nie chciałem brać łańcucha kredytowego na 40lat aby kupić mieszkanie. Po 2 latach pracy zagranicą stać mnie na kupno mieszkania do remontu w Polsce ale nadal tutaj mieszkam bo jak widzę co się dzieje w kraju to odechciewa się wracać. Oprócz tego 2 krotnie zmieniłem auto (używane oczywiście) wcześniej w Polsce musiałem 3 lata odkładać abym mógł sobie kupić używane auto. PiS obiecywał złote góry a jest coraz gorzej.

Niecierpię reklam, ale ta to wyjątek. Uwielbiam ją, jest taka wzruszająca ♡

Okay that was a bloody masterpiece. I'm in floods. I particularly loved the way he grips the handle inside the taxi as the moment of meeting draws near. Plus it's for a good, decent product, not some cheesy consumerist trash.

It's not Christmas, I'm not in Europe. But it made me cry. A man who loves his granddaughter enough to learn another language. So sweet .
How can I add ten billion thumbs ups for this video? I have watched it about 20 times and the ending still makes me cry every single time. Being a Mexican living in the US with my Taiwanese wife and our 4 year old daughter and having my mother in Mexico City makes it impossible for me not to absolutely adore this video. Kudos for an incredibly heartfelt holiday video with a character that is impossible to not love.

I spent over two years working in Poland. The attempts by the Polish to speak English made me laugh sometimes. However, they were miles better at learning English, than I was at trying to learn Polish. The vast majority made me feel welcome in their country, and I have fond memories of my time there. dziękuję wam wszystkim.

I like Poland but it's obvious that England is and ever was the best country in the world with clever politicians, fair law and nice people. who never think only about themselves. England is beautiful because this country respect people from other countries and understand other people problems. The culture in England is also amazing. Maybe England was created by God.
I had a friend whose mother was from Poland. Her parents sent her here before WWII, to be out of danger. An uncle was supposed to meet her but didn't. she never knew what had happened. At the age of 13 years she supported herself, first by just walking down the street and if she saw someone who might need help, she would offer to help for food or whatever. She built a business helping people move for whatever they could give and what they were leaving behind that she sold. More than anyone I have ever met, she taught me to be grateful for this country and how lucky I am to have been born in it.

A few years ago one of my professors showed this to us before Christmas. He had just become a grandfather and as a very very English man with a very very Finnish grandchild, this commercial meant quite a lot to him. It was a reminder for us too why we study English philology in the first place. ♥

Once I was on the bus and I randomly thought of this commercial and couldn't control my tears. It makes me cry just THINKING about it it's so touching. Mostly because it's relatable. My uncle is in Switzerland and we had to learn a bit of German so as to greet his kids. Most of us Albanians have family abroad so we know that feeling when someone you love is far away from home. So even thinking about this commercial makes me cry because it reminds me how difficult it is for those who's kids or parents or any loved ones are so far and they only get to see them like once a year and then they have to say goodbye to them again until next year.. it's so sad and so common amongst us Albanians

A few years ago, while I was learning English, I was watching this video and always dreamed of going abroad. I have been abroad for approximately 132 days now. And now I realized that this guy is Polish and this is also a Polish brand. Therefore, it was a coincidence and quite surprising for me that the first country I visited abroad was Poland. :)

Me and my friend went from Turkey to Poland for education in September 2012. The plane landed in Berlin and we had to go Lodz by bus at 11 pm. There were few people on the bus (not Polskibus). An elderly woman realized we were foreigners and she tried to help us where we wanted to go. Even she doesn't know English, she used her body language to describe what she wanted to say. In the end of trying, we thought she gave up. When some passengers went off & others had a break in Opole, we saw through the window that she spoke with others. After 15 mins, people got in the bus and one of the old men approached us and told "Espanol?", we said no. He said "Français, Dutch?", we nodded. "German?", nodded. "English?" Yes! He started talking in English and told us how we should go to the university (TUL). We couldn't believe he was able to speak 4 languages even we said "stop cunting languages". It was very interesting experiences for us about Polish people.
