- Here are parts of a flight I made a couple of weeks ago. Ran up a river though an unpopulated area. Actually, it's the same river, but because I'm new at this video editing, I actually did the first part of the river run second, the second part first. In case you're wondering why the river is smaller, and it's a bit darker. Just some fun flying in my Kitfox 4 , on skis in northern Mn. At about the 2.50 part in the video, I go past a bald eagle in a tree on the right hand side of the plane. I went by another one as I come out of the river into the lake, but I don't see him in the video. He was on the left. Anyway, it was a fun flight for me. Notice if you want, on the second take off, it took me 32 seconds to go from pushing the throttle in to being at 500' altitude. This 80 HP rotax 912 does pretty good in this 650 lb Kitfox 4.
Great Video, Skis add a whole other level of fun.
Great video. I fly a Kitfox 4 with a 100 hp rotax . Got the ski's on her but its been so cold and windy I've yet to take her up this winter. Hope we get some good weather here in March.
Again, great job
Thank you for taking me flying! I can't wait to finish my model 2 with the D-MOTOR and post some flying vids too!
Beautiful. I'll bet it's cold up there.
Hi there. I met you today at Little Lagoon Pass Park. I was riding the OneWheel.
Looks like fun flying.
was nice talking to you. Glad you found the channel
Awesome video Jim! Makes me wanna get my Capella in the air ASAP. If I only had my tailwheel endorsement…. I’m seriously considering converting it to a nose-dragger as that’s more practical where I live. I can’t find any usable grass strips near me.
Thanks! Get er done! One way or the other. :-) A plane is not much fun sitting on the ground. It will pretty much fly the same once it's in the air so do what ever you need to do.
Thank you sir for the fly along,,great fun, much appreciated.
Question,, does landing onto the snowi in these light conditions mess with your depth perception like landing on water does?
Nice job on the touch downs by the way,,Bush pilot quality!!
Cloudy conditions and low light make it real hard to see how high you are in unbroken snow. Sunlight make shadows and that helps a lot to see where the snow actually is. With poor light, if you are landing on a frozen lake, if you land close to shore, you can usually get clues from the brush on shore and such to see how high you are. Actually, it's kind of funny that you mention depth perception, I only have one eye, but there are ways to work around that. Thanks for the kind words.
Nicely done!
See any deer?
No deer on this trip. Just two eagles. I have a heater in the plane so it's not cold.
